Tropes:

  • All Love Is Unrequited: "The Story of Nothing!" is about a guy thinking back on his unrequited crush.
What's wrong, I'm standing over here
It's just so weird that she can't see me
It's like she waved her magic wand
    And somehow turned me into...

Nothing! Let's talk about something else
I'm starting not to see myself
    She went so far away
But I still see her everyday
  • Depraved Dwarf: "Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates!" features "The Midget Pirates of Willigoat".
Although they were wee men, they had big swords and were known for gutting many, and leaving few alive.
  • Face on the Cover: The full band is seen posing on the album cover.
  • Genre Mash Up: "Red Sweater!" has a doo-wop sound, "Magic Chicken" goes into a hip-hop song in the bridge, "Attacked By Snakes!" is a full-blown tango song, and "Lobster Bucket!" has a bluegrass/country sound.
  • Instrumental: "Fight Song!", "Phantasma del Mar!"
  • Operation: [Blank]: From "Super Rad!":
    All systems go
As we step into the octagon
Feel the wrath of mission codename
    Applesauce, applesauce, applesauce
  • Silly Love Song: "Red Sweater!" and "Martian Girl!".
  • The Something Song: "Fight Song!" and "Theme Song!"
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: "Lobster Bucket!" is about how The Power of Friendship is better than dragging people down out of envy, competitiveness, or spite like "lobsters in a bucket".
  • To Serve Man: The alien girl from "Martian Girl!" is planning to capture and eat humans, but after kissing the narrator she finds humans distasteful and leaves.
She had an appetite that couldn't be beat
She came from space to eat people meat
    I guess I didn't taste good anyway
'Cause when she kissed me, she flew away
  • Trademark Favorite Food: The narrator of "Magic Chicken!" really loves fried chicken.
  • "The Villain Sucks" Song: "Powdered Milk Man!" is about how awful the eponymous villain is for replacing regular milk with powdered milk.
