Having initially gotten into music in The Noughties as a member of various Pop Punk and Post-Hardcore bands, he began a solo career in 2009, primarily as a rapper blending Alternative Hip Hop and Rap Rock, releasing a series of mixtapes throughout the first half of The New '10s before being signed to Rostrum Records (the former label of Mac Miller) and releasing his debut album Look Up in 2015.
In The New '20s, he shifted his solo career back towards Pop Punk, as his frequent collaborator Machine Gun Kelly had done to significant commercial success in 2020, releasing his fourth album, Internet Killed The Rockstar in 2021.
Outside of music, he's also notable for his relationships with Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau between 2018 and 2020 (initially a polyamorous relationship with both of them, before dating Thorne and then Mongeau monogamously). From 2021 to 2023, he was in a relationship with Avril Lavigne, with the couple getting engaged in April 2022 before breaking things off in February 2023.
