The Consequences of an Errant Shell is a story in AlternateHistory.com, written by johnboy, with an interesting premise, that hasn't been explored that much by the alternate history community: what if the Russian Empire won the Battle of the Yellow Sea due to a lucky shell hit?
Answer: Russian Empire becomes a constitutional monarchy, with a British-styled parliament, and Russia (and the world), is much better compared to our timeline.
- Alternate History: Of course.
- Death by Adaptation: Some famous people die much earlier than they did OTL.
- Josef Stalin was hanged in 1907 due to 1907 Tiflis Robbery, Vladimir Lenin was shot in 1919 for high treason.
- For Want Of A Nail: The story hinges on this story element.
- A lucky shell from one of the Russian battleships, causing the destruction of the Mikasa, and sending the Japanese into disarray, which led to a Russian victory.
- Due to the victory in the Yellow Sea, a drunk Tsar caused Alexandra to awake, only to get hurt from slipping on to a laid out toy and Alexi to be stillborn, and forcing the Tsar to enact political reforms.
- Laser-Guided Karma:
- Oskar Direwalnger and his band of raping murderers were destroyed by some Cossacks.
- Richard Nixon, the Used Car Salesman: A few interesting (some humorous) examples of this come about such as:
- Roman von Stenburg. Gets imprisoned for killing an ex-Bolsheivk. Latter, in the Second World War, he's released and takes command of a penal division. Kills Shiro Ishii in a brutal manner.
- Vladimir Putin still becomes a spy. But due to internal affairs, he was reduced to a simple border guard in Russia's Far East.
