- Charlie's kids obviously know they aren't really his kids, and they're incredibly loud and foul-mouthed to contrast the meek and nice Charlie. Despite this, however, it is made clear that all three of them are Happily Adopted and love their "Daddy" as much as any child could love a parent, biologically related or not, and Charlie returns that affection just as deeply. While his marriage may have ended in humiliation, Charlie got a great set of boys out of it.
- Charlie has to go to great lengths to protect Irene and deal with his split personality. In the end, he proposes to Irene (and she accepts!), and they all live together, even welcoming Casper/Whitey into the family.
