Headscratchers / Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'

Go To

  • Considering that Master Roshi, a man who hasn't fought since the King Piccolo Saga, was allowed to kick serious ass in Resurrection 'F', why didn't Tien allow Yamcha and Chiaotzu to come along? Or at least Yamcha, considering that Chiaotzu hasn't been a main character after the Saiyan Saga sadly. I find it very hard to believe that Master Roshi is stronger than Yamcha or Chiaotzu.
    • Because Yamcha and Chiaotzu hadn't improved like Tien has. Yamcha even stopped training. Not only that, but Tien probably wanted someone looking after Chiaotzu.
    • Also no one invited Roshi. He came on his own. He originally came to bring the Senzu Beans, but stood for the rest of the fight.
    • This makes absolutely no sense to me. Even if Tien did indeed improve it wouldn't be a large difference, considering how much Goku is stronger than him. The difference between Yamcha and Tien is literally nothing comparing it to the difference between Goku and Tien. Heck, even Piccolo is way, waaaay stronger than him. And Chiaotzu was always a good deal weaker than Yamcha (looking at power levels). And not to mention Roshi was totally fine.
    • The point remains, no one asked Master Roshi to fight, he came on his own. If it was up to Tien, he would tell Master Roshi to leave before he's killed, but Frieza arrived not long afterwards. Tien and Chiaotzu also been constantly training while Yamcha had his off and on periods so there would be a notable different in power and Tien is being over protective of Chiaotzu. He didn't want Chiaotzu to fight the Saiyans despite going through the same training as everyone. And the fact that Roshi didn't die in two seconds is because Frieza's men were fairly weak and Frieza didn't bother to fight him, something the group couldn't have known before hand. Before that point, they were only sensing Frieza.
    • Considering all the laughs that line about leaving Chiaotzu and Yamcha at home got, I'm fairly sure it was a meta joke about how useless Yamcha is considered to be by fans.
    • While the above is probably true, it could be taken as either a sign of Tien being overly cautious and overestimating the threat posed contrasted to Krillin's underestimating the situation(bringing Roshi, leaving behind 18), or a sign of Tien being savvy about who was going to be playing Sacrificial Lion in this fight and just deciding to leave them out of it so that didn't happen.
      • Krillin didn't underestimate the danger. If he survived, they didn't need 18 there. If he died, they needed someone stronger to protect their daughter.
    • Same reason Krillin showed up: he has a move that can hurt and even kill people thousands of times stronger than him.
    • Particularly in the original, the scene with Tenshinhan saying he left Yamcha, and Chiaotzu wasn't played for comedy. In Japan, polls show Yamcha is more popular then Tenshinhan, and even people who made fun of Yamcha wanted to see him do something. Basically when you get down to it, it was because Toriyama forgot about Yamcha, or didn't want him there.
    • If Toriyama 'forgot' about Yamcha that line about Tien leaving Yamcha behind wouldn't be there. Plus, Yamcha only beats Tien by one slot in the popularity poll.
  • Because someone likely added that line as a Voodoo Shark to explain why Yamcha was gone when the real reason was Toriyama didn't care or want him there. Yamcha beats Tien significantly in all other polls such as the Buu Saga poll where Tien didn't even rank, its easy to say he's more popular.

  • Ok, so Sorbet manages to mortally wound Goku with an energy attack to the heart... How? Characters have shrugged off (relatively) much stronger attacks. Sorbet is a henchman, not even showing any real combat ability. He isn't stated to be a prodigy like Frieza, he is said to be weaker than Frieza (you know, that's why he wished him back). He is by and far weaker than SSGSS Goku, yet one attack aimed at the heart is enough to damn near kill him?
    • Whis explains this to Goku much earlier in the movie and tie-in manga. No matter how strong someone is, when they let down their guard, their power drops. Freeza also explains this while kicking Goku into the rocks. Because Goku was so overconfident, and let his guard down while telling Freeza to ditch Earth, quite a bit of his power vacated his body at the time, leaving him vulnerable to even a simple beam attack.
    • It is also constant with the rest of the series. Throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z it has been repeatedly shown that no matter how powerful the characters become, they can be serious hurt if their guard is relaxed. This is often Played for Laughs, but a serious example is when Vegeta was able to knock Goku unconscious for several hours because he lowered his defenses when reaching for a Senzu.
    • Except there's the problem of Goku still being Super Saiyan. And staring at Frieza. And the laser came from the same direction Frieza was in. And Goku should know better by now
    • If you lower your guard, it doesn't matter how powerful you are, Super Saiyan or not. That's why Whis warns Goku about being too relax. Not only does it leaves one open to attack and it slows a person's reaction time. And Goku obviously didn't know better since he offers to spare Frieza despite what happen the last time he gave Frieza mercy.
    • So it's just a poorly done scene then?
    • They kept going on about how the technology had gotten better, I thought maybe they had just invented stronger laser guns or something.
    • Krillian has been able to actually hurt SSJ Goku by throwing a rock at the back of his head while he was eating (he assumed Goku would sense and catch it). This is just the logical extreme of that. Add to that, lasers aren't Ki so he can't sense them just like he can't sense the Androids, and they even explicitly bring up early in the movie that the speed of nerve impulses is still a thing, and neither Goku or Vegeta are capable of dodging on pure instinct at all times like Whis can.
    • First of all Krilling hitting Goku with a rock was filler which was often inconsistent, and any time a character has been seriously hurt by lowering their guard, their power was fairly comparable to them. The gap has NEVER been as wide as it was between Goku and the ray gun Sorbet used. A better way to do it would be to have the laser bounce off of Goku, which would distract him long enough for Frieza himself to get the cheap shot in. The scene would barely be different and would be consistent with everything else we've seen in the series.
    • Even as early as the original Dragon Ball it has been shown that a strong character can be hurt by a weaker character. Chi-Chi put a blade in Master Roshi's head because his guard was lowered, Goku got knocked unconscious by a boomerang blade because he didn't expect it, King Piccolo got his thumb bit by Goku to the point of bleeding because he lowered his guard, and Goku got a hole in his shoulder by Piccolo despite tanking a blast that destroyed the island not even a minute earlier. So yes, the series have a history of character's getting hurt because their guard was lowered. It's usually Played for Laughs.
    • But the problem is the power gap has never been as wide as it was between Sorbet's ring and Goku. The ring was referred to as a 'common raygun', it couldn't have been very powerful at all. Likely akin to those footsoldiers using those arm cannons. Goku is millions upon millions of times more powerful than that, relaxed or not. There's no way it would come close to damaging him.
    • Krillin once hurt Goku who was in Super Saiyan form by casually tossing a rock at his head when he wasn't paying attention. The show directly and explicitly contradicts the point you're trying to make, multiple times over. You say "there's no way" for something to happen when it happens, repeatedly.
    • In filler. Which isn't canon. In the source material, this isn't consistent. Please use actual canon material next time.
    • There have been several examples from the manga stated here and you dismiss it as 'the power gap isn't wide enough'. So I will give you this, in both Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Super, Bulma slapped Goku without breaking her hand and Goku fall over in pain. Given that Goku is god-level at both points, the power difference between him and Bulma is quite great and is compatible to the power different between Goku and Sorbet's ring. We also have no point of reference for how strong that ring is, only that is a common ray gun. Okay, so how does a common ray gun compared to a normal energy blast? We don't know. As far as we know, a common ray gun in Frieza's army could blow up mountains or just put a hole in steel.
    • Yes, easy to keep griping when you can just dismiss direct evidence that your problem is unfounded. Also, other posters already have. Your only answer seems to be that you don't think it should have worked that way, then you don't have much of an argument.
    • I think what the original troper's trying to convey is something similar to how guns and bullets are treated in the Dragon Ball universe; no matter how off-guard or not you are, if the character is strong enough then getting shot has no effect and they just bounce off (or in earlier DB cases, give them bruises/put "non-lethal" holes through them). While yes, those instances are more or less Played for Laughs, a common ray gun would be nothing more than a scaled version of this to a SSGSS. That being said the similarities between them fall flat when you consider that the characters usually try to dodge or deflect energy attacks consistently throughout the franchise, especially if they are sharp or pointy. Some notable examples that come to mind are when Frieza shot and killed Vegeta with his "Death Beam" and Mercenary Tao using his Dodon Ray in an attempt to kill Goku in DB, both of which bear a similarity to the one seen here.

  • Why all of a sudden both Goku and Vegeta completely reject teamwork like it was part of their philosophy all along?! I can understand they are rivals and all, but they're seriously saying they'll not going to join forces neither against another enemy who threats the planet and all of their friends?! They completely forgotten they teamed up in Buu Saga exactly for that reason? And besides, they are seriously not going to learn anything after all they went through the fight against Frieza? So, what was the purpouse by making Whis lampshading their flaws in first place?
    • Neither Goku or Vegeta are big on teamwork. In Battle of Gods Goku outright said he hated how he became a Super Saiyan God because it required teamwork and not something he could do on his own. Vegeta only swallowed his pride with Kid Buu because power-wise, there was little else he could do. He was basically useless in that fight and his original plan was to stall while Goku power up to defeat Buu. After that plan failed, Vegeta decided to have the people of Earth defend themselves and give energy to the Spirit Bomb. If they could, neither one of them would have worked together to beat Buu. And Frieza was something that they could have dealt with without teamwork since either one of them could have killed him. Where they screwed up was Goku dropping his guard and Vegeta taking too long to go for the kill. Finally, Whis just lampshading the obvious, much like how Old Kai pointed out that Kid Buu would have been dealt with easily if Goku and Vegeta just merge again instead of giving into their pride.
      • Except them being in anyway opposed to teamwork is fairly recent. Goku had no problem with quadruple teaming Vegeta. Vegeta didn't see the harm in quadruple teaming Frieza. In the Android/Cell Saga is swung wildly be between being useless and being unnecessary but no moral issue prevented Vegeta from helping Gohan at the end. In the Buu Saga they didn't fuse but they sure as hell piled on Kid Buu with Vegeta, Fat Buu and as useless as he was Mr. Satan. In addition Goku's not liking a power that isn't his is kinda funny since while Kid Buu is the only successful deployment of one the Spirit Bomb is explicitly a teamwork attack that uses borrowed power and in all three cases that it was used it involved some degree of his allies holding off the villain because for all it's power the Spirit Bomb is pretty much useless in combat since any enemy that warrants that kind of power to kill can fairly easily kill you during it's absurdly long charge up time.
    • Goku only teamed up to fight Vegeta because he literally had no choice. He got all his bones broken. Part of the reason he wanted to fight Vegeta again was because he couldn't beat him without help. Vegeta also had no choice but team up against Frieza, he knew how powerful he was. The moment he believe he became a Super Saiyan he tried to fight solo. And the end of the Cell Games the solar system would have been destroyed if Gohan lost. And finally, they did try to solo Kid Buu. Remember Vegeta and Goku played rock-paper-sissors to see who would fight first. Goku even says he could have killed Buu himself if he didn't try to give Vegeta a turn and dragged the fight. The Spirit Bomb was a last ditch effort and not something they wanted to do. In Super, Goku says he didn't like he needed help to beat Buu. So, Goku and Vegata never like teamwork and only do it when all else fails. Also the Spirit Bomb is different than the ritual to become a Super Saiyan God. Goku spent months learning that technique. It wasn't given to him, unlike Super Saiyan God where people push their energy into him so he can ascend to god hood.
    • This isn't anything new. Goku and Vegeta very clearly only team up when they have no other option, i.e. against Super Buu. And even then, it's pretty clear that they don't enjoy it. Vegeta and Goku don't want to team up against Freeza because they know that they can handle the fight alone.

  • Wait, so according to Whis, Vegeta's main flaw is that he thinks too much? And it's Goku who gets cocky and underestimates his opponents? Are we talking about the same Saiyans here? Has everyone forgotten the Cell Saga already?
    • What Whis said was that Vegeta was always tense, which made him slow to react on top of thinking too much. He also said that Goku thought too much when fighting, but not to the extent of Vegeta. Whis' lesson to them was to learn how to let their bodies react without thinking. Vegeta is also a thinker, when he's calm and doesn't let his pride and anger get the best of him. For Goku, it wasn't that he underestimated his opponent, but he became too relaxed which emptied his body of ki and easy to catch off-guard. With Frieza, Goku became so assure that Frieza was defeated that he momentarily lowered his guard and never expected a sneak attack. He probably didn't even know Sobert existed. This is also in-character for Goku since he was knocked out by Vegeta in the Buu Saga because he dropped his guard, he got a hole in shoulder by Piccolo because he lowered his guard, and he acted like a Smug Super when he first met Beerus, thinking that Super Saiyan 3 would be too much for him. The Cell Saga is also not a good example for either character since Goku went into the fight with Cell knowing he couldn't win and was only fighting so Gohan can get an idea on how Cell fights. The Cell Saga is also a case study of what happens to Vegeta when he's ego and pride overrules his common sense. Compare Vegeta from the Namek/Frieza Saga who is much more tactical and thoughtful since he knew he stood no chance against Frieza.
    • But it's not at all consistent. Vegeta and Goku were on comparable levels of power, as was Piccolo at the time, and Beerus curbstomped him because he was much stronger than him. Goku getting oneshot by a raygun because he had his guard down is utterly inconsistent with everything else we've seen. If that was the case, why did Frieza shrug off Gohan giving him an utter beatdown instead of... You know... Outright dying? This is the equivalent of saying Superman could die from getting shot just because he didn't see it coming. There's a limit to how weak you are when relaxed or off-guard.
    • Superman is a poor example. Superman's powers are always on. He can't suppress it the same way the characters in Dragon Ball. Goku can press his power so low that his power level only comes up in the thousands. And need I remind you that Bulma slapped Goku without hurting herself, but Goku fall on the ground crying in pain.
    • Thinking too much doesn't mean Vegeta is thinking about anything useful. Vegeta constantly trash talks during his fights, about his pride, his victory, his hatred for his opponents... the fight for him is all about what it proves, what he gains from it. It means he never allows himself to live in the moment, fully absorb himself in the battle. Goku on the other hand is VERY prone to thinking of even his most dangerous battles as no big deal, and it has epicly backfired on several occasions. Wanting Gohan to defeat Cell, letting Vegeta and (attempting to let) Frieza escape, holding back on Buu because he thought Vegeta would want a go...

  • Frieza wanting revenge on Goku is a given, but why does he not spare a thought towards Future Trunks, the one who actually killed him? True, any attempt to seek him out would naturally be fruitless, but you'd think Frieza would at least mention wanting to settle the score with him too. Especially since Frieza doesn't know that Trunks was from the future and thus should think it's possible to seek him out.
    • He did ask about Trunks. He even says he wants revenge against two Saiyans, he didn't know Vegeta was revived. However, he's told before landing on Earth that they couldn't find the other Saiyan. Frieza then says no matter since he's going to destroy the Earth.
    • Indeed, he asks about "the other Saiyan" (Trunks never told him his name), and Sorbet basically says "We seriously looked everywhere for that guy but couldn't find any trace of him. I suspect he's either hiding out on a backwater world or dead." Frieza's response is "No matter. We can start with Goku and Earth."
    • You also have to consider the mentality behind that kind of obsession. Frieza is focused on Goku because that was the start of his downfall. Up until that defeat, the universe feared him. Every defeat from then on is because Goku made others realize he wasn't unbeatable or was just weakened from recovering. By defeating Goku, he would show himself to be the strongest and psych himself up for rectifying every loss since.
  • Ok, Frieza claims that he's never bothered training before because he's naturally so strong he saw no need. But back on Namek when fighting Goku, he said that his father trained him. And it's not like that's something there'd be any point in lying about.
    • You need to show a scan or something of the above. I don't recall him ever saying that.
      • He never specifically referred to training to draw out latent power. He merely said nobody but his parents had ever been able to harm in his true form, and that he 'hadn't exercised that much' in awhile. That doesn't necessarily imply 'training', and training doesn't always have to be to develop latent power; Freeza could have easily trained to refine existing skills, but never to actually unlock anymore potential, which is what he did in this movie with frightening ease.
    • I'm pretty sure Frieza was just exaggerating about how much he didn't train. Even if he didn't train to become the strongest he could be, he still needed to learn how to fight. I assume that King Cold trained him in a way similar to Grandpa Gohan training Goku. He probably trained into adolescence and stopped once he mastered his final form and energy blasts.

  • Why didn't Majin Buu show up to help the Z Fighters? It wouldn't have been so noticeable if Bulma hasn't explicitly mentioned him by name as one of the few people who could possibly help hold off Frieza. At the very least, the movie could have given it a handwave by having someone mention that he's off planet or show him eating at a buffet and not picking up his cell.
    • Gohan specially states that Buu was in hibernation and nothing can wake him up.

  • Android 18 getting told to stay home with the kid and not go off to fight is ridiculous. Even if she was significantly depowered when she was reverted back to human form, she's still easily more powerful than Krillin. She was far stronger than Frieza in his final form in the series (Android 18>Android Saga Future Trunks>Frieza). If she had shown up to the fight she'd probably be the most powerful Z Fighter or second only to Gohan.
    • Actually she would be behind Piccolo and she is still an android or cyborg if you will. She was never reverted to a human or been depowered in any way.
      • Wait, then Piccolo and 18 should both be stronger than Final Form (not Golden) Frieza. So should Super Saiyan Gohan for that matter.
      • No, they are all weaker than Frieza's weakest form. Super Saiyan Gohan got one-shotted by Frieza and he was the strongest fighter at that moment. Frieza's weakest form here is stronger than his final form was on Namek...he powered up just that much. 18 wouldn't have made too much difference outside of helping with Frieza's army.
      • Gohan wasn't Super Saiyan when Freeza hit him.
    • It was more that she respected Krillin's wish than anything. Krillin specifically said that someone had to protect Marron, so he probably implied for 18 to stay with Marron in the chance that the fighters failed. In that case, 18 would have a better chance to protect Marron than Krillin would, especially since 18 doesn't project her aura (and thus she could stay in hiding if she wanted to).
    • Plus, I dunno exactly how seriously Krillin was taking the threat at that point. Compare his reaction here (joking about shaving his hair, generally being in good spirits if slightly worried) to his reaction when Mecha Freeza and King Cold first showed up (dead serious, and absolutely TERRIFIED). While Krillin still fears Freeza, you have to remember that 1) the last time he saw Freeza, he was easily beaten by Trunks, and 2) everyone has grown exponentially stronger since that point. While he figured it'd be a rough battle, he probably underestimated just how strong Freeza had gotten, and thus didn't really see any need for 18 to come. If Krillin really thought that it was life-or-death, he probably would have invited 18.
    • Someone has to look after Marron and Krillin really wanted to go, hang out with his friends, fight a battle he wasn't really all that concerned about. 18 understood that, that it was pretty much a boys night out for him.

  • Shisami. This guy bugs the hell out of me. Everything about him. He's able to match Piccolo in combat, and Piccolo is much stronger than Frieza was prior to his training, following that Shisami is much more powerful than Frieza was back then. Where the hell did they find this guy? How did they convince him to join up and not just take over? How were they having trouble keeping the empire in line with him around? Was he always this strong or is it a recent thing? Was he Frieza's sparring partner and he went from being on a level with Zarbon to being on a level with Android 17? Shouldn't he - and by extension, Piccolo - be stronger than plain SSJ Gohan? I understand at least part of holding the empire together had to do with Frieza's reputation keeping the Empire in line through sheer fear, but that reputation was earned through action. Send Shisami out to personally put down rebellions and you're golden.
    • You answered your own question. When Sobert introduced Shisami, he specially said that he and Tagoma were about as strong as Zarbon and Dodoria. It is assumed while Frieza trained his men did the same. They knew they would be fighting the Legendary Super Saiyan. While the army itself remained weak, Shisami seems to have dug deep and unleashed his own latent power. If he was always this powerful, they wouldn't need Frieza around and they should in hell wouldn't have wish him back. Also, Gohan's full power is still unlocked, he just doesn't have full access to it because of his lack of training. Gohan's 'Ultimate Form' is not an actual transformation. It is his normal self with all his hidden power unleash, which surpasses a Super Saiyan.
      • Piccolo is NOT stronger than a mastered super saiyan. Goku and Gohan in their regular super saiyan forms were about as strong as Perfect Cell, who *far* surpassed Piccolo at that point. Even if Gohan lost his mystic power and hadn't trained, he'd still have to fall *extremely* far to be below Piccolo's level. Even without training, Gohan still was able to effortlessly transform into a super saiyan, showing he hasn't lost his mastery of the form even if he hadn't used it in a while.

  • If I remember correctly, Krillin was blown up by Frieza, but when the Namekian Eternal Dragon brought him back to life, he was whole and undamaged. But then when the Eternal Dragon made for Earth is summoned by Pilaf and Sorbet, he can't put Frieza back together again because he was diced up and burned into smoldering chunks by Future Trunks. Why is this arbitrary restriction suddenly enforced?
    • Shenron is not Porunga, they have different restrictions. Furthermore, Shenron normally can't bring someone back if they've been dead for more than a year, which this film explains as being becuase after a year they get summoned back in whatever condition their body was in when they died. For anyone but a member of Frieza's (We can survive anything) race, they'd just die again in seconds.

  • Shouldn't Vegeta have survived the Earth-Shattering Kaboom as well? He's been capable of surviving explosions that powerful for years, and Battle of Gods shows that a Super Saiyan God is capable of surviving in space.
    • It seems Saiyans can survive for a few minutes in space, but not for a long period of time. Beerus specially says that Frieza's species are adopted to survive in a vacuum, power have nothing to do with it. Even if Vegeta survives the explosion, he would suffocate in space, much like what would have happened to Goku if he survive Namek's explosion.

  • Did Frieza gain goldy ki in his new form? because if not he should have had trouble keeping track of and harming Goku.
    • Do you mean godly? Frieza can't sense energy at all, so it doesn't matter if Goku has a godly aura. And having a power of a god doesn't mean a mortal can't harm you. Vegeta was able to harm Beerus in Battle of Gods as a Super Saiyan 2.

  • Has golden Frieza reached his peak now or could he theoretically train more and keep making huge jumps in power all his life like Goku does. If in only four months he went from friaza level to near Beerus level could he logically have trained his whole life and ended up thousands of times stronger than Whis?
    • It is left very vague if Frieza peak in power, however, given how Dragon Ball universe works he could probably get stronger. What keeps Frieza from being the most powerful being in existence is that he doesn't have Goku's work ethic or the maturity to be a truly great fighter. What makes a person like Whis so dangerous isn't just his power, but the fact that he is well trained.
      • Almost definitely. Goku and Vegeta both point out that Frieza hasn't even mastered Golden form and if he had it's probable he could have beaten Goku straight. Frieza's poor work ethic isn't really a fair point. At the time of his death he could defeat virtually ever known warrior in the galaxy at the same time without breaking a sweat. And while Beerus and Whis kind of mess with the mythology a bit by creating a legit threat to Frieza Frieza's reaction to seeing Beerus solves this. He doesn't seem to consider it a possibility to get strong enough to battle Beerus and thus didn't put in the effort.
      • According to Akira Toriyama Frieza can't become much stronger than he already is since he can never surpass Beerus no matter what he does. So, yes, he reached his limit. At best he can master his Golden Form not to have stamina issues.
    • Actually his poor work ethic is a fair point. The key lesson of the Dragon Ball series is that no matter how powerful you become, there is always someone better. Frieza knew about Beerus and Majin Buu being his betters and avoided them. He was also terrified of a Super Sayain surpassing him. Instead of becoming stronger to fight the Super Saiyan if they appear, he killed any Saiyan who could remotely challenge him. Frieza was afraid of someone surpassing him, but didn't do anything besides murder, which is why he fails so utterly in the movie. He never had to work towards anything in his life and was used to suppressing anyone who could fight him.

  • Why were the Z-Fighters so broken up about Frieza blowing up the Earth? It's not like this kinda stuff doesn't happen to them all the time. Even if they didn't know about Whis's time travel powers, it would've taken Goku less than a minute to find New Namek again and ask to use their Dragon Balls again. The planet would've been back in no time. Death doesn't really have any consequences for them.
    • First, this doesn't happens all the time, this is only the second time the Earth's been destroy. Second, just because the abridge series made a joke about death having no consequences doesn't mean it's true in the series proper. The Z-Fighters actually do take death seriously, which is why they try not to die and protect their families. They never just shrugged their shoulders when someone is killed, even when they know that they can be wished back. Also, Old Kai forbid them to use the Namekians Dragon Balls. Remember, Goku had to bribe Old Kai to get them to use the Dragon Balls to restore the Earth after Buu blew it up and he only allowed it because it was an emergency. According to the rule of the Kais, the Dragon Balls are only suppose to be use on their planet, not to make wishes elsewhere. Yeah, they could ask Old Kai's permission and hope that he would say yes, but it's not something that they can just do on a whim.
      • Fair points, but, being honest, there isn't a whole lot that Old Kai could do to stop Goku from using them if he wants. Beerus and Whis are the only people in the Universe who could and it's doubtful either of them would care.
    • There is a lot of things Goku can do and he can't be punished for it outside of Beerus and Whis. However, Goku obviously wants the permission from the higher ups, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered to bribe Old Kai and restored the Earth after Buu was dealt with. Yeah, in the end he maybe would have acted without Old Kai's permission, but he still would have tried.
    • Gotta agree there, it's also not like Old Kai could do anything to stop Goku and co from just using the Namekian Dragon Balls. Death has become too much of a joke to be played for drama in the DB verse.

  • The guy who trained Frieza...is he alive?!! Given Frieza's enormous ego, I can't picture the evil tyrant letting him live. You would think Frieza would murder his trainers to prevent them from training others to be stronger than him.
    • Frieza didn't take a master. He trained himself. You seriously think Frieza would ever stoop to being under someone's tutelage?

  • Why are Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo having trouble fighting Frieza's soldiers? Any of them could have blasted them into pieces in seconds. This is embarrassing and painful to watch. Also, why does Gohan all of a sudden have this no-killing policy? He's not superman. We seen him killed bad guys back in DBZ.
    • Sheer numbers is one factor. There's also wanting to mitigate collateral damage. A blast that could vaporize an entire army could level good chunks of landmass if not aimed carefully, so why risk it? For Gohan, it's often been established that he doesn't actively train and strive for warrior perfection like the other Z Fighters. He's perfectly fine living like a normal person and that makes him rusty whenever a threat shows up. The non-killing thing is new, but remember Gohan had been moonlighting as the Great Saiyaman, playing the part of a super hero might have left that mentality with him.
    • Actually, in the entire series, the only person Gohan ever kills is Cell, and we all saw how much it took to get him to do that.

  • Why didn't Freiza send his henchmen to search for the Earth's Dragon Balls so he could wish for immortality? I would think he'd be desperate to avoid going to Hell again.
    • It had only been four or five months, the Dragon Balls couldn't be used again for a while. Aside from that, though, it just wasn't what was on his mind. His desire for revenge against Goku is so all-consuming that the thought doesn't appear to come to him. He even says he plans on destroying Earth's Dragon Balls after killing Goku, to make damned sure that Goku wouldn't be coming back.

  • While in Hell, the only exposed part of Frieza's body is his face. Couldn't he use his Eye Beams to fry everything he sees?
    • He's in Hell. He is powerless there and he knows it. The point his face was exposed was just to allow him to see just what he'd be dealing with for an several years and then eternity.

  • Jaco says time-traveling is a felony. There are a few problems with this. 1. How would he know when someone is committing the crime? Does he have a device that can tell him who belongs in his timeline, and who doesn't? He would have to stumble upon their time machine by accident. 2. If someone is indeed altering the past, it would be too late for him to react. His memory would be erased, and a new timeline would be created. 3. What if the culprit has a higher power level than him? It would be kinda hard to arrest the guy who can vaporize you in seconds.
    • It may be that Time Travel is a crime listed in the books just in case, but they've never actually found someone doing it. They probably don't even know how time travel works, so they don't know about the alternate time line thing. Super further states that Future Trunks's time travelling is the only case of time travel that has ever happened in Universe 7 anyway (not counting Whis's "rewinding" ability, which seems distinct from actual time-travel).

  • Why is Frieza so afraid of Beerus? This seems like a dumb question, Frieza was told that there were two beings he should never challenge; Beerus and Majin Buu. He was told Goku defeated Buu, and despite that he was convinced he could surpass Buu. So why is he so certain he can't surpass Beerus? There is no indication he knew Beerus was stronger than Majin Buu so this feels like it was just there to pander to Beerus' fans.
    • Beerus is a God, it isn't a fancy megalomaniac title, he is legitimately a God of Destruction, the only beings that are stronger than them, are their angels, and Zeno, while, eventually, Frieza might be able to become strong enough to take on Beerus, it's kind of up in the air, mostly due to The Gods and their Angels power levels being mostly unknown.

  • Whis' "temporal do over" paradox question: when Whis uses the temporal do over ability when Frieza "kamikazes" Earth, I understand the skill is dependent on who he saves gaining some Time Travellers Immunity , meaning he only uses it when a change can be made after they know what they can do so, (Spoilers ahead) does everyone who participates in the do-over seamlessly take their former place in time, or is there a Time Bastard situation? Also more specific to Resurrection F, does Frieza carry on in the alternate timeline as the victorious conquerer, but STILL persist in HFIL in the altered timeline of Universe 7 since Whis is basically an Angel or whatever? Or . . . . WMG?
    • I believe Whis's temporal do-overs are not Time Travel, but rather he's literally reversing time, undoing (and therefore effectively erasing) the entire last five minutes across the entirety of the multiverse. There's no alternate timeline created when he does a do-over.
