  • Why didn't Amarantha just kill Feyre instead of organizing the trials.
    • The last third of ACOTAR is intended as a retelling of/Whole-Plot Reference to the myth of Cupid and Psyche, in which a mortal woman, Psyche is commanded by the jealous goddess Venus to complete perilous tasks to be reunited with her immortal lover, Cupid. Earlier parts of the book also reference this tale, though to a lesser degree. Amarantha clearly enjoys torturing people physically and psychologically, which the tasks are definitely designed to do for Feyre and others. She may also hope it will persuade Tamlin to submit to her to save his lover. And because the plot needs to continue, as it would be a bit of a downer if Amarantha was a No-Nonsense Nemesis and just killed the heroine.
  • Feyre's magically-sealed deal with Rhysand specifies that she has to live with him one week every month for the rest of her life. But, considering how magic seemingly functions on precise wording, wouldn't the deal be off after Feyre gets her neck snapped? She does get resurrected, but she was definitely dead for a little while, and seeing as she made the deal prior to her resurrection, would it still count?
  • What were Miriam and dragon doing during the fifty years of Amarantha's reign. Surely they had to know that their arch nemesis was enslaving Prythian. You would think they would lend a hand.
