, Ariel offhandedly mentions that Hercules (more commonly called "Herc" for short) is her cousin. Since Herc's (biological) father is Zeus, and one of Zeus's bro . there's was Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea whom Ariel's dad is based on, it can be assumed that Herc and Ariel's dads are probably brothers.- Actually, in Greek Mythology, Triton is the son of Poseidon himself. Which would make Triton Zeus's nephew, but still make Ariel and Hercules cousins(or make Ariel herc's niece if you want to use the greek kinship system ). Which makes sense given when Zeus tried to get Triton's seat during the talent show, he asked him to help a relative out, not a brother out.
- It does kind of make sense for Ursula to be Vanessa's mother. After all, in the original film she did, for all intents and purposes, create Vanessa (albeit as an alias rather than a separate person).
