" What is a heart...? A heart is the battle cry of life! "

Ultraman Zero Gaiden: Killer the Beatstar is a tokatsu series produced by Tsuburaya, part of the Ultra Series and further chronicling the adventures of Ultraman Zero. The Ultimate Force Zero made a comeback as well after the events of Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial.

A year after saving the galaxy from Belial's forces, the Ultimate Force Zero returns to Planet Esmeralda for a reunion visit. Jean-Bot is the first to arrive, but he ends up being captured by a mysterious robotic force, which his friends arrive just in time to see him being taken away, before getting ambushed by a legion of Mechanical Monsters.

After fending off their respective foes, the Ultimate Force investigates further, and discovers Jean-Killer/Jean-Nine, a duplicate of the abducted Jean-Bot, and Jean-Killer's creator, the evil supercomputer Beatstar, who aims to wipe out all organic beings in the universe and replace them with mechanical copies...

Tropes related to characters in the film are on the main characters pages.

Ultra Galaxy Legend Gaiden: Ultraman Zero vs. Darklops Zero provides examples of the following tropes:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Beatstar's original programming was meant for peacekeeping purposes. Too bad the misguided computer interprets that as genocide.
  • Bait-and-Switch Gunshot: A Mexican Standoff between Ultraman Zero, Glenfire and Mirror Knight, against Jean-Bot and Jean-Killer, ends with all of them subsequently firing their attacks at each other. There's a moment of silence, then the camera zooms out... to reveal the small army of Legionoids surrounding the Ultimate Force, now exploding one after another after being shot.
  • Class Reunion: Sort of, the Ultimate Force Zero were pretty much on their own before they become Fire-Forged Friends from the previous movie.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: During the battle against the mechanical legion sent by Beatstar, Ultraman Zero realize something is hindering him from using his full abilities against his opponent, King Joe. Turns out Beatstar had the atmosphere of the planet covered in energy-draining fog.
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: After thwarting Beatstar, the supercomputer, and the moon its base is located, blows up entirely.
  • Evil Counterpart: Jean-Killer to Jean-Bot, although he made a Heel–Face Turn after Beatstar's destruction, where he is subsequently freed from his programming.
  • Keystone Army: Destroying Beatstar also leads to complete annihilation of its army in a huge nuclear explosion.
  • Out of the Inferno: The penultimate battle between Jean-Killer, Ultraman Zero and Beatstar had Beatstar and Jean-Killer firing their attacks at full blast at each other, creating a massive explosion between the two. And from the explosion, out comes Jean-Killer, using the flames and smoke as a cover to deliver a Megaton Punch into Beatstar's face and quickly turning the tide of battle.
  • Imagine Spot: Early on, Rei and Captain Hyuga received reports that they may have a chance to take a day off. Cue the two of them daydreaming of spending a lazy day at a beach (with Gomora frollicking in the water!)...
  • Planet Spaceship: Beatstar's headquarters is built for one, a Dyson Sphere large enough to destroy a planet by simply plowing into it. It's hollow inside houses the inhabitants, with an artificial sun and moon giving a semblance of normality.
  • Reveal Shot: When the Ultimate Force Zero arrives at Beatstar's moon base, everything seems suspiciously quiet... until the camera zooms out to reveal an entire army of robotic kaiju all over the moon's surface.
  • Robot War: Well, Beatstar's army on the moon had a purpose...
  • That's No Moon: Beatstar's planet base, which the Ultimate Force Zero tracks it down and saw its surface populated by an entire robotic army.
