A fan fiction co-written by three authors (known by the cybernyms bigfatcarp93, thebobmaster, and Garjel_blah), the story of Solar Eclipsed takes place in the Mass Effect universe, but 50 years after the events of Mass Effect 3. In this story, a rogue faction of Eclipse has bombed the Citadel, killing the Council in the process. However, a shadow organization by the name of Mandate, taking exception to this bombing for their own reasons, sends in two of their own, a male human named Dillon Harding and a female salarian named Zelaria Cetari, who goes by the codename of Nasari, to track down and eliminate the bombers. However, not only is there more to the bombers than meets the eye, but many of the characters seem to have their own agendas...

This fanfic's first two chapters were published in August 2018, and is still being written and published, with the first chapter being available here.

This fanfic contains examples of:

  • Alternate Universe: While taking place in the same Mass Effect universe as the games, it is set quite some time after the trilogy, with no canon characters, placing it closer to this category.

  • Evil Versus Evil: Just because the main characters are tracking down those responsible for the Council bombing doesn't make them the good guys. In fact, at least one of the team seems to be using the job as a way to boost their standing and prepare for a power play rather than any altruism.

  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Vintoria, one of the bombers, is cooperating willingly with at least one of the operatives, Harding. Given, however, that her cooperation also involves an attempt on the life of Nasari, it's highly debatable how much of a turn she's actually made.

  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: While not really a traditional "face" at any point, Harding has taken a turn for the opportunistic, offering a plan to sacrifice Nasari and take her place as the new leader of the team, with Vintoria by his side.

  • Villain Protagonist: This is, ultimately, a tale about a group of murderers murdering other murderers.
