One moment, Soren Crawford was just a young man working as an assistant to the Head Healer of the royal family in the Kingdom of Fordenia. The next moment, he finds himself in the middle of nowhere, dazed, surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves, and realizing that he had just experienced the unbelievable: King Roland, lying motionless on the cold marble floor, blood spilling out from a terrible wound. King Roland, with his dying breath, confessing that Soren is actually his illegitimate son. King Roland, once a wise and noble man, now dead in his own Kingdom.
King Roland, stabbed by his own wife, with Soren as the sole witness.
Meanwhile, in the country of Malvine, Luna Stratos quickly postpones her search of her parents' whereabouts when her travelling partner, her adopted brother Xander, suddenly disappears without a trace overnight. After a week of fruitless searching, even her plans of taking a break at a local inn had to take a backseat as a tower of light suddenly and briefly appears in Onwa Fields, a place notorious for vicious monsters and sure death for anyone inexperienced or unprepared. Half-curious and half-concerned, Luna ventures deep into the fields to find an young man surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves...
Their meeting will decide the fate of this world.
Pharosia is an unpublished gamenovelstorything by Wynter aka Shoe. This story is based on many RPGs, especially the Tales Series, so expect a lot of borrowed elements from those games. It's currently a work-in-progress, and will definitely never see the light of day, thanks to it's creator's lack of talent. Cheesy premise aside, it's really just something that this troper had in her mind for quite a few years. Let's see if it will even make sense in the end!!
Tropes are slowly being added, and there is now a character page!
Tropes associated with Pharosia:
- Anti-Villain: If you're an antagonist who's not pure evil, you're this.
- Armor-Piercing Question: Quite a few times.Luna: Do you really think sacrificing your life will make things better!?
- Back Story: Pretty much all the characters. From the main party to the supporting cast to the Big Bad to some seemingly irrelevant mauve shirts...
- Subverted with The Whale Guy.
- Badass in Distress: Happens to almost everyone once or twice, willingly or not. However, it's usually followed by a Moment of Awesome or a Redundant Rescue
- Brick Joke: After rescuing Soren from Onwa fields, Luna firmly states that they aren't going back there again. Cue the Disc-One Final Dungeon.
- Combos: Everyone can do it, but it's Luna's specialty.
- Conveniently an Orphan: The main cast, with the exception of Ariana and her mother. Of course, it's lampshaded by quite a few people, and almost all the Parental Abandonment is relevant to the plot.
- Dual Boss: Felix and Shaun, Vivian and Ziven, and Saria and Xander.
- Duel Boss: Soren and Chase, Luna and Xander twice, and Luna and Soren twice as well. For the latter, the first duel is plot-related and the second is a friendly spar.
- Evil Smells Bad: The dungeon where Lilia and the other children were kept. There's a reason for that.
- Fighting Your Friend: The party (and later Soren himself) fighting against Chase. The duel between Luna and Soren also applies.
- Genius Book Club: Derek, and Soren to a lesser extent. Justified with Derek, as books and reading were the only source of entertainment before meeting Luna and Soren.
- Genre Savvy: The main party as a whole shows this, but a special mention goes to Luna.Luna: This is the part where the ceiling starts collapsing and we have to hurry and get the hell outta here, right?Ceiling starts shaking and crumbling down.Luna: (sighing) Of course.
- Chase as well.Chase: (after meeting Soren and Luna for the first time) I won't be surprised if you guys end up saving the world.
- Chase as well.
- Heroic BSoD: Soren suffers a big one after Lilia's death. Of course, the rest of the party gets one as well, but Soren's is especially big since he had personally befriended the girl and promised to save her.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Saria. Xander, in a way. Soren considered making one after his Heroic BSoD but Luna quickly snaps him out of it with a minor, non-fatal Heroic Sacrifice of her own.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: Heterosexuality can be debated, but Vash and David, and Xander and Ciel.
- Honor Before Reason: The main party has some elements of this.
- I Did What I Had to Do: Luna's explanation for murdering Yosef at the dead of night after she had found out that he had escaped captivity.
- Improbable Weapon User: Also subverted by the main party, who use swords, Full-Contact Magic with fists, halberds, staves, gunblades, dual pistols, and knives.
- Mercy Kill: Chase delivers one to his childhood friend Blaine, after the latter had been forcefully transformed into a monster.
- Noble Male, Roguish Male: Soren and Chase, respectively.
- Parental Abandonment: Pretty much everyone in the main party (and then some) suffers from this. Lampshaded quite a few times.
- Polar Opposite Twins: Vivian, a rambuncious bundle of energy to Ziven's quiet politeness.
- Running Gag:
- Why don't we just knock 'em unconscious?
- Soren's repeated insistence that he's not a prince, he's just the (illegitimate) son of the King!
- Shoot the Dog: Luna killing Yosef in cold blood, as well as killing Xander on his request. Particularly painful when you remember that she spent this whole journey hoping to bring him back.
- Violence is the Only Option: Luna seems to think so, when dealing with Yosef.
- Visible Silence: Often used by Luna, which is why she usually leaves the socializing to someone else.
