He started his Scratch career humbly in 2008 and rose to fame in 2010-2011. Unfortunately, in August 2016, after 8 years, he quit and left the site, yet still continues on other sites like YouTube.

scratchU8's works on Scratch contain examples of:
- Abusive Parents/Domestic Abuse: In "Backstory" series, Cam's father is revealed to be this, but only abuses his wife and adoptive son, so Cam never really found about it.
- Adventures in Comaland: scratchU8's animations are strong implied to take place in comaland, thanks to "Backstory"
- And I Must Scream: The fate of Randomynesserz series' flying Mario when he ends up stuck in the moon, as shown in Randomynesserz 6HELP ME
- Angst? What Angst?: In-Universe with the appropriately titled "Oblivious", where scratchU8 is happily walking through The End of the World as We Know It.
- Anti-Escapism Aesop: In the "Backstory" series, scratchU8 is faced with depressing moments from the real world, convincing him to get out of the imaginary world he has lived in for 7 months.
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: scratchU8's reaction to running out of chips, dying in a video game level, and being poked by a friendly bystander: "How could this happen to me?"
- Art Shift: "Prepare your 3d googles" has a 3D scratchu8scratchU8: Hey there everyone, I have my body parts surgically inflated, so now I'm 3D! Whoooaaa-
- "Mario isn't quite fit enough for the morning" changes from scratchU8's usual Marioesque style to animesque when Mario talks to "Le Princy Peachstool" Melodramatically.
- Art Evolution: His early projects consisted of crude and childish art that could be drawn and manipulated by an elementary student with MS Paint. As time moved on, his art evolved into sleek and more realistic art typical of that by an average professional illustrator.
- Bait-and-Switch:
- "Scribblenauts" is Eggman's April Tricks.
- "Luigi's Mansion: Return of the Mansion - Beta 3.0" is a GIF of Luigi dancing from Luigi's Mansion, while a mashup of the Space Jam theme and Luigi's Mansion theme is playing.note
- "Animatronics Are Very Happy!!" (formerly "Animatronic Outlook") is really there's no April Fools' Day because it's one big April Fools' joke.
- Balloonacy: "This project is as pointless as a white crayon." is an animation of scratchU8 being lifted by a single red balloon.
- Berserk Button: Do not call Astro simple.
- Bowdlerise: "Animatronic Outlook" was taken down because of Scratch's strict policy against "scary" Five Nights At Freddys material, so scratchU8 brightened up the dark title screen and altered it to look silly, replaced the creepy-sounding "Innocent Moon", renamed it to "Animatronics Are Very Happy!!", and slightly changed the Bait-and-Switch Black Comedy ending of scratchU8 dying to him living Happily Ever After.
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: "Order now to get 50% off books, backpacks, and a gun-"Offscreen someone: LOOKYOU'RENOTSUPPOSEDTOADVERTISETHAT.Notebooks.
- Bullet Time: Parodied with "Epic Kick is Epic", in which scratchU8 attempts to kick Mr. Man Guy, but does slowly, so slowly that Mr. Man Guy backs out of the way and scratchU8 ends up kicking himself
- Disproportionate Retribution: scratchU8 once destroyed a city because he had 700 projects.
- Driven to Suicide: In Part 4 of "Backstory", scratchU8 jumps off a cliff so he can exist his imaginary world and return to real life as Cam.
- Escapism/Mr. Imagination: Played for Drama and gradually Deconstructed in the Backstory series. Since he was constantly abused by his adoptive Big Brother Bully, Axel/Buiji, Cam ended up spending time in his fantasy world and eventually falling into coma, leaving his family worried. He later, in his own world, discovers emotional and heartbreaking hints of the real world (more information on the Tear Jerker example on YMMV.Scratch U 8). This drives him to commit suicide in his own world and return back.
- Epileptic Flashing Lights: "This is what happens." ends with a simple animation with a spinning bright technicolor rainbow background. While very tame, scratchU8 still presents a warning:NOT have a seizure, because that'd be bad and I might get sent to court or something.
I wouldn't like that.
You wouldn't like that.
So don't have a seizure.
Thanx
~scratchU8 - Family-Unfriendly Death: At the end of "The Curse of Weegee pt. 1", scratchU8 has his head turned into a blood puddle after being zapped by Weegee's laser.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!:
- Gratuitous Spanish: "Chocolate" is entirely in Spanish. Even its code is.
- Heroic Sacrifice: In "scratchU8 Generations", modern scratchU8 beats up and kills himself to stop the Reality-Breaking Paradox from consuming the world. Don't worry, classic scratchU8 grows up into modern scratchU8 and learns to not accidentally Time Travel again.
- Human Popsicle: The result of scratchU8 doing the Ice Bucket Challenge
- Inkblot Cartoon Style: "If I Were In A Classic Cartoon" depicts everything in monochrome and all characters with Pie Eyes, even the Weird Sun and flower. Not the exact style, but grasps it.
- Meaningful Name: "Backstory" series: Cam is short for "camshaft" and Axel is a modification of "Axle". Think of an axle rolling, making the camshaft connected to roll too. Thus, Axel's bullying is the reason Cam resorted to Escapism.
- Meet Your Early-Installment Weirdness: "scratchU8 Generations", an Affectionate Parody of Sonic Generations
- Mind Screw: "How can April Fools' Day be an April Fools' joke if April Fools' Day is just a joke?"
- Mundane Made Awesome: "Then the phone rings and you're like" has scratchU8 pulling off sheets dramatically, running Parkour-style, and fighting Humongous Mecha, just to answer a ringing phone. Oh, and it's all accompanied by the Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood intro theme.
- Palette Swap: scratchU8 was originally a blatant Mario recolor. Later on, he was redesigned to be more original, by having rolled-up sleeves and a fedora.
- Paranoia Fuel: In-Universe with "Watching you", which has scratchU8 staying freaked out after listening to a Pianta Police saying "We'll be watching you pal" in a cutscene from Super Mario Sunshine
- Rapid Hair Growth: This happened to Mr. Man Guy spontaneously.scratchU8: Oh dear god, I can't breath. Mr. Man Guy, get a haircut.
- Real Men Wear Pink: "EVERYBUDDY LOOKIT MAH PINK SKAYTEZ"In that case, I'm a REAL MAN.
- The Smurfette Principle: Princess Rose, Expy of Princess Peach and Mr. Man Guy's Love Interest, is the only prominent female character in scratchU8's works. scratchU8 tried to justify this by saying that he doesn't have any female friends to provide voices for female characters.
- Soundtrack Dissonance: A hard rock song, "Diary of a Jane", plays in a silly and poorly-drawn animation, "teriyaki chicken"I use the music in the background as a joke but I really do like it oops
- Stylistic Suck: scratchU8 has lots of these kinds of projects, complete with art that looks like a newborn scribbled it, primitive animation, cringeworthy voice acting, and nonsensical plots! Examples include "THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER" (Epileptic Flashing Lights warning), "Oh", "priorities", "Senkick du HeadHoncho", and "teriyaki chicken".
- Under the Mistletoe: In "Chrmistmahanakwanza Special", scratchU8 and Mr. Man Guy encounter a hanging mistletoe and agree that standing under it would be awkward. After leaving the room, the mistletoe follows them and..scratchU8 and Mr. Man Guy: OH MA-MY
- Vocal Evolution: He sounds medium-pitched and young in his tween years and later sounds low-pitched and manly in his teen years. This is one of the reasons he doesn't like his older projects.
- Year Inside, Hour Outside: the Backstory guide confirms that Cam has been living in his fantasy world for 7 months, which makes the fantasy world's year a real world's month.
scratchU8's works on other sites contain examples of:
- Loophole Abuse: Good luck trying to ask scratchU8 for a face reveal. He will always find a way around it.
- Revisiting the Roots: "Sonic vs. Infinite", done in style of his 2010 projects
- Ruder and Cruder: His post-Scratch works have become quite profane since.
