Ed Devereaux, born Edward Sidney Devereaux, (27 August 1925 — 17 December 2003), was an Australian actor who lived in Britain for a long period, best known for playing Matt Hammond in Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.
Living in Australia, he worked as a boy soprano, teenage soldier, cabbie, storeman, and truck driver until the age of 25 when he moved to the UK. His film career began with roles in comedy films such as five of the Carry On films, Watch Your Stern, The Wrong Arm of the Law, and Ladies Who Do.
On British TV, he mostly appeared in dramas, most notably playing Thomas Macaulay in four episodes of The Onedin Line. On Australian TV, he was best known for playing Matt Hammond in the children's series Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, while other notable roles for Devereaux were Jack Meredith in My Brother Jack, George King in Kings, and Prime Minister Ben Chifley in The True Believers.
He died in his sleep of kidney failure at the age of 78.
