Die-Cut is a Marvel Comics series, published as part of the Marvel UK brand.

Czorn Yson is an alien warrior from Ganalon, one of a race who've been locked in a war with their cyborg enemies for a very long time.

Czorn himself was taken prisoner, tortured for a very long time, and then killed by an intruder, Death’s Head, who had not yet escaped his ‘Minion’ programming and was still assimilating the minds of targets with useful skills.

In Czorn’s case, those skills included an unnatural talent with blades.

Eventually, he escaped Death’s Head’s mind into a newly constructed body, equipped with the impossibly sharp 'psythe'. And that’s when the trouble really started.

Tropes included in the various Die-Cut series:

    open/close all folders

Tropes not specific to a particular series
  • Atrocious Alias:When Die-Cut introduces himself to small-time hood Santa, the crook’s response is a sympathetic "Yeah… it's difficult to come up with a good name these days, ain't it?"
  • Death by Origin Story: Czorn himself, who only becomes Die-Cut after his original body is killed and his mind is assimilated by Death's Head.
  • '90s Anti-Hero: Die-Cut himself seems to qualify. An alien warrior who’s back from the dead in a genetically engineered body with a huge blade grafted to one arm and a crazed mindset. The only subversion is that he values life and really doesn’t like killing humans or other organic sentients. However, he also thinks all cyborgs and robots are abominations that must be destroyed, so…
  • Self-Constructed Being: Czorn's new body, Die-Cut, is created to his specifications from the biobanks of Matricca Scoppio before he downloads himself into it.

Death's Head II and the Origin of Die-Cut
  • Brain Uploading: Czorn's killed and absorbed into Death's Head II this way. And then reverses the process to download his mind into the new Die-Cut body.
  • Enemy Without: Die-Cut to Death's Head, at least initially. After an initial attempt to kill each other, they settle for some Teeth-Clenched Teamwork.

    Die-Cut
  • Affably Evil: Mr Veneer. It helps that he's actually a mutant whose power helps to enforce this. As long as he's pleasant to people, their responses seem to be non-violent.
  • Big Bad: The Red Skull, who turns out to be the secret sponsor behind Manmaker
  • Dragon with an Agenda: M’lish follows orders when he has to, but he’s definitely not following the same dream of human superiority as his employers.
  • Elite Mooks: The sentient robots of the Kull.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: After Manmaker has no further use for the kidnapped Beast, Die-Cut removes Beast’s memories of those events via very specific brain surgery.
  • Losing Your Head: The robot Red Skull was decapitated before the first issue of Die-Cut and spends most of the miniseries in a box.
  • Mutants: Veneer’s charm is revealed to be a function of his mutant power.
