"If ya don't have the Eddies, you can work off what you owe. See, I got this client — needs volunteers to try out this newtech before it hits the market. Don't worry — already been tested, perfectly safe. Now they're just lookin' for material for promos, ads and whatnot. Already have a number of people takin' prototypes for a test run around town. But I get the feelin' you're the right man to really give it a go."
Lexy Hammer

Cyberpunk 2077: Your Voice TP is a graphic novel published by Dark Horse Comics, written by Aleksandra Motyka and Marcin Blacha and illustrated by Danijel Zezelj. It was added in a digital form to pre-orders of the game Cyberpunk 2077 and was released in a physical format on June 23, 2021.

The story takes place in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, more specifically in the year 2023. During a routine shift, a lonely maintenence worker named Todd stumbles upon an Edgerunner named Yishen, who is being chased by a few members of the Maelstrom gang. She manages to pass him a chip and tells him to deliver it to her client before she's captured.

Todd helps Yishen escape, and he's devastated when she leaves him right after he saves her. Desperate to find her again, the worker takes the shots of her face captured by the CCTV camera to a fixer named Lexy Hammer. After locating her, Hammer demands payment, which the worker doesn't have. Hammer then offers an alternative way: the worker has to wear an amygdala stimulator that's supposed to help him make quicker decisions. What follows is a reunion with Yishen, a bar shootout, an attack on a military convoy and a meeting with the legendary Johnny Silverhand.

This comic book provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: Yishen works as an Edgerunner and can clearly handle herself much better than the worker.
  • Action Survivor: Todd is just a Rapid Transit worker that gets caught up in a bunch of Edgerunners fighting over an unknown package.
  • All for Nothing: All of Todd's efforts end up with Yishen being tracked down and executed by Zetatech. Worse, it becomes a popular brain dance.
  • Canon Foreigner: Neither the worker or Lexy Hammer appear in the video game. Likely justified, since they probably wouldn't be able to afford any life extending treatments.
  • Canon Immigrant: Yishen has a small cameo in 2077 in the mission "Never Fade Away", where you can briefly interact with her as Johnny. This sequence take place 10 years before the events of this comic, so timeline-wise her first appearence is in the game.
  • Deal with the Devil: Lexy Hammer provides Todd with a chip that is supposedly recording technological information. It's actually recording a brain dance of his adventure.
  • Downer Ending: Yishen is killed while being operated on by a Ripper Doc and it is turned into a braindance. Also, the equipment that the worker got to Johnny Silverhand is used to bomb Arasaka in a terrorist attack.
  • Electronic Eyes: The data Hammer has on Yishen reveals that she has Kiroshi eye implants.
  • Love at First Sight: Much of what Todd does is motivated by his clear attraction to Yishen.
  • Prequel: The comic takes place in 2023, the year Johnny and Rogue raided the Arasaka Tower for the second time and 54 years before the events of Cyberpunk 2077.
  • "Truman Show" Plot: To pay for his information search on Yishen, Todd records a brain dance of the events. It ends up being a super megaseller.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Yishen comes across as this due to telling Todd to get lost after he saved her life.
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: Todd doesn't realize that he's being talked to by a Brain Dance director the entire time.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Zig-zagged. Johnny's appearance is clearly based off his game design as opposed to the tabletop's depiction (key distinction being black (and not blonde) hair), but he lacks Keanu Reeves' facial features.
