Cable is a 2024 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics. It is part of the Fall of the House of X (Crossover), the concluding chapter of the extensive Krakoan Age saga, begun in 2019.

Cable must fight against Orchis and the threat of the Neocracy.

Cable (2024) provides examples of:

  • Assimilation Plot: The series introduces the Neocracy, a kind of genetically engineered singularity whose presence converts all humans around into Energy Beings capable of exploring all planes of existence at the cost of losing individuality to a Hive Mind. Cable has witnessed their existence in multiple timelines, and is guided by graffiti predicting their coming to investigate and prevent them from coming into existence.
  • Back for the Dead: Mutant Empyrean, introduced way back in X-Men Annual #2 (1993), during the height of the Legacy Virus plot thread, comes back during the mini-series only to have his plug pulled and given a merciful death.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Kid Cable shoots his older self in the head to convince Parvenu he's on the other's side, but Cable notes that his younger self knew where to shoot him without doing any serious damage.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Irene Merryweather returns after last being seen in The Despicable Deadpool.
    • Amanda Müeller/Black Womb reappears after last appearing in X-Men: Legacy.
    • Issue #4 reveals Konie is Courier, Gambit's... go-to person during Nicieza's stint with the Ragin' Cajun.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • In issue #3, Black Womb tells Kid Cable she got the idea from "another time and place", referencing X-Men Legends (2021) #10.
    • In the same scene, there is a flashback showing a group of scientists working at Alamogordo facility: Irene Adler, Mr. Sinister, Amanda Mueller, Brian Xavier and Kurt Marko.
    • Parvenu's last ditch scheme is pulled from Cable's memories of when he had access to his full power and used it to pull an Genghis Gambit on the entire world that ended up with him fighting the Silver Surfer.
  • Future Me Scares Me: In the last issue, Kid Cable admits that he doesn't want to become Cable, fighting only to prevent bad futures from happening instead of helping good futures come about, to which Cable replies that he hopes that doesn't happen either.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Parvenu's scheme is motivated by a combination of narcissism and abject loneliness that feed into each other. He was raised in isolation, dehumanized by surgeries to enhance him, which lead to his Neocracy plan to forge a connection to other people, validating his upbringing while also no longer being alone. Unfortunately, everyone fears change and refused him, and he kills himself futilely trying not to be the only being like him.
  • It's All About Me: Cable notes that this is the main reason Parvenu destroyed himself, as he ultimately couldn't accept that he was wrong and essentially wore himself out trying to achieve his goal.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Black Womb is the secret head of Parvenu Industries.
  • My Future Self and Me: The series stars both old Cable and Teen Cable.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: Empyrean's ability to convert negative emotions into energy is being exploited by Parvenu Industries to power their facilities. He's strung up in a massive machine that taps him into the world's emotions and is thankful when Cable euthanizes him.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: Grey Gargoyle is usually a member of Thor's rogues gallery.
  • Self-Disposing Villain: Henri Parvenu ends up destroying himself in a futile effort to force humanity to evolve into Homo unitus.
