This is the character page for The Legend of Dark Witch 3. As usual, beware of spoilers.
Tropes specific to the first Legend of Dark Witch go here, while Episode 2 tropes go here.
Major Characters
Zizou Olympia
Voiced by: Karin Yabiku
- Skills: Liner Shot, Lord Attack
Zizou, the titular Dark Witch, is a goddess in charge of maintaining the balance of magic. After nearly being defeated by Day, she seeks out the former members of the Magic Lion Corps in hopes of quelling Day's rage.
- Ambidextrous Sprite: The white half of her hair almost never faces the camera.
- The Cape: The entire game illustrates how Zizou is effectively this. While the past games had Zizou beating up multiple factions causing trouble, here, it's fleshed out why she does it. Instead of trying to battle people, she either wants to get past them, or warn them Day is out for blood, or is getting in the way of someone causing a massive problem. More than once, she tries to talk her way through a problem instead of getting into a fight, and the only reason she ends up beating up both sides is because they usually attack first. She even tries talking down Day and then tries to relate to her before she commences with the standard asskicking.
- Physical God: She is a goddess in charge of maintaining the balance of magic.
- A Taste of Defeat: After an entire series of either curbstomping everything in her way or, at absolute worse, being fought to an apparent standstill, Zizou finally suffers a legitimate loss at the hands of Day. Her sister Mati nearly quotes the trope word-for-word after she chases Day off. Of course, Zizou being Zizou, she just brushes herself off, fights the bosses of the month, and tries again. It should be obvious who wins this time. Zizou kicks Day's ass before Simeone finishes Day off. To be fair for both sides, though, Zizou couldn't have predicted Day would have something that would drain the Capacity gauge, and it's implied that, had Mati not intervened, Zizou would have still found a way to win.
- Then Let Me Be Evil: She doesn't become a villain (if anything, she explains her reasoning and more than solidifies herself as a hero), but by endgame, after Mati makes it clear that Zizou's actions have painted a target on her head that the three villains from each game so far are gunning for, Mati and Zizou both agree it's for the best she lets herself appear 'evil' in the eyes of the villains; if Riva, Simeone, and Franzer are busy seeing Zizou as a villain getting in the way of their goals, that means they are wasting resources on dealing with Zizou and aren't doing worse things to other people.
- Unlimited Wardrobe: Undergoes yet another costume change.
Day
Voiced by: Nozomi Nagumo
- Skills: Dual Comet, Bite BallRevenge Magic: Capacity Zero, Ultima Splash
A former member of the Magic Lion Corps who turned traitor, said betrayal leading to the destruction of the group. Her impending Roaring Rampage of Revenge sets the events of the game in motion.
- Another Side, Another Story: She is the second playable character.
- Character Development: She goes through this over the course of her story, as we get to see her interact with her former comrades that she hates so much. The game actually provides a subtle point of reference for her growth: in her conversation with Zanetti, Day states that she wouldn't continue to follow through on an ideal in the face of evidence that invalidates it. Compare that to her second boss fight in Zizou's story, where she states that there's no turning back from her revenge despite encountering all of her former comrades and learning that they don't hate her.
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Uses Capacity Zero to completely cancel Zizou's powers and defeat her in combat. Zizou only escapes thanks to her sister, who's immune. In her story, she defeats Mati as well.
- Foreshadowing: Even before the story reveal, the fact that her subtitle on the websitenote is also part of the subtitle of the game as a whole gave away the fact that she's a major figure.
- Interface Spoiler: Anyone who watches the opening movie will easily be able to identify her messy hairdo, silhouetted or otherwise, on the character select screen. If that wasn't enough, the silhouetted portrait is her Super Move Portrait Attack, which you'll probably see about three minutes into a new file.
- Making a Splash: Her true Revenge Magic, Ultima Splash.
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: She feels this way toward Simeone after encountering her former friends and Simeone's underlings. Unfortunately for her, Zizou gets ahold of Simeone first.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: She was involved in a betrayal that made her a pariah. Now, she's returned to the Old Islands and is pissed. Though it turns out that the whole thing was manipulated by Simeone.
Mati Olympia
Voiced by: Mai Kadowaki
- Skills: Tres Stall, GeroundRevenge Magic: Capacity Zero
Zizou's sister, who rescues Zizou from her ill-fated first encounter with Day.
- Big Damn Heroes: Mati makes her first on-screen appearance in the series to rescue Zizou from Day's Capacity Zero.
- Facial Markings: Has a small, tattoo-like design under her left eye.
- Final Boss: She's the final boss of Day's story.
- Not So Above It All: Despite being portrayed as one of the wiser characters in the series, she jumps into battle against Day for fairly flimsy reasons like almost everyone else in the game.
- Oddly Shaped Sword: She wields a scimitar-like sword.
- Physical God: Like her younger sister, she's a goddess.
- Scarf of Asskicking: She has the godlike power called "Imperative" and wears a very long blue scarf.
- Top God: Implied. It's definitely canon at least that, even if she isn't a better warrior than her sister, she definitely has more overall power, and is able to No-Sell the Capacity Zero that briefly brought Zizou to her knees. What makes her the top Goddess is the fact her conversation with Zizou implies they are the only two Gods that they know of.
- Unseen No More: She was only mentioned in passing since the first Dark Witch, but she finally makes a proper appearance in this game.
Simeone
Voiced by: Natsuki Hamada
- Skills: Maisanz Ball, Ultima BeamRevenge Magic: Doom
A Beast Man with both humanoid and monstrous features.
- All There in the Manual: Her Boss Subtitle is only shown on the official website. She never appears on the character select screen and thus doesn't have one in-game.
- Ambidextrous Sprite: Another notable case. Her beastlike limbs switch sides depending on what direction she's facing.
- Bait-and-Switch Boss: Day's story changes the timing of some of the later events of the game. There, she sets Folkstone on fire herself and gets flattened by Zizou before Day even arrives. The player fights Zizou and Mati instead.
- Big Bad: She is the main antagonist of the story, leading Brujita, Zanetti, Patty, and Claudia.
- Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Riva and Franzer are human royalty who are just trying to do what they feel is best for their respective countries. Simeone is a magical creature that hates humans in general and is perfectly fine with Day's attempt to burn down the Old Islands.
- Cute Monster Girl: Pushes it a little bit more than the average Dark Witch character, but she's still a cute girl first and a monster second.
- Final Boss: She is the Final Boss of Zizou's story.
- Friendly Enemy: In true Dark Witch fashion, she holds a fairly cordial conversation with Day in the latter's story. Granted, this is fresh off of a defeat at the hands of Zizou...
- Manipulative Bitch: Tricks Day into thinking that her teammates have turned on her, and nearly succeeds in burning down the Old Islands before Zizou finally takes down Day.
- Summon Magic: Summons enemies in her boss fight to swarm Zizou.
- Title Drop:"Those who appear rich with wisdom to their allies appear as but lunatics to their enemies."
- What Happened to the Mouse?: We never see how Simeone reacts to losing to Zizou in the main story, the ending instead cutting to a conversation between Zizou and Mati. Day's story states that she and her followers will retreat to "Azel," but the two stories aren't quite compatible continuity-wise so there's no telling whether this also happens in Zizou's game.
- Winged Humanoid: She has one feathered wing on her back.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Played straight when she casually tosses Day aside before serving as Zizou's final boss battle. She also tries to invoke this in Day's story, when Day says that she's done believing Simeone's lies. Day isn't having any of it and calls Simeone out for being a Sore Loser.
Former Magic Lion Corps
Al
Voiced by: Junca Amaoto
- Skills: Cold Block, Ice GraveRevenge Magic: Freeze Barrier
The recurring Treasure Fighter makes her second appearance as a boss. She is fought at Millenium Bridge.
- Adventure Archaeologist: She is a treasure hunter.
- Badass Cape: Her red and black cape returns from previous games.
- Continuity Nod: She's called The Grim Reaper by Day, an In-Series Nickname that was mentioned way back in the first game.
- Fanservice Pack: The new art style was very kind to the Treasure Fighter. She always had a larger chest than the average Dark Witch character, but they went all out in Brave Dungeon and it carries over to this game.
- An Ice Person: She has ice powers.
- Gender-Blender Name: Al is almost exclusively a male name.
- Goggles Do Nothing: Subverted; she wears goggles in her hair, but pulls them down for at least one attack.
- Hero of Another Story: She goes on many adventures as a Treasure Fighter, Brave Dungeon being one of them.
- Recurring Boss: After being Demoted to Extra in Episode 2 and having A Day in the Limelight in Brave Dungeon, she is back as a boss.
- Series Continuity Error: Al's scythe is only intended to be used a conduit to summon magic. She actually uses it as a physical weapon in this game, which was stated to be a miscommunication between the director and M2.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: She styles her hair in this manner.
- Unkempt Beauty: Still present, even with a Tomboyish Ponytail trying to keep her hair in check. Her character design page hangs a lampshade on how messy her hair is.

A thief who has been stealing from the rich at Muswell Hill. Fought at Muswell Hill alongside her companion Campbell.

- Non-Human Sidekick: Her sidekick is a weird, one-eyed creature named Campbell.

- "Super Sentai" Stance: She strikes a solo variation in her intro animation.
Beast Men
Patty
Voiced by: Mao Komiya
- Skills: Double Clutch, Patty RumblingRevenge Magic: Lightning Angry
A muscular Beast Man who spends her days training atop Kinder Hill.
- Aerith and Bob: Patty is a relatively mundane name compared to the likes of Zizou, Seama, and Wonder Girl.

- Facial Markings: She has red marks below her eyes.
- Femme Fatalons: Has long black fingernails and toenails.
- Inconsistent Spelling: Inside System wanted to romanize her name as "Paty" to help differentiate her from Litty, but overseas fans went with Patty and Inside System decided to run with it. Notably, the Archive spells her name as Paty multiple times, suggesting that this was a very late change.

A Beast Man with a seductive nature. She's fought at Lyme Park.
- Badass Cape: She wears a short, reptilian-esque cape.
- Combat Stilettos: She menaces the player while wearing high heels.
- The Dragon: Functionally serves as this for Simeone. In one After Talk in Day's story, she calls the shots among Simeone's forces and relays messages from Simeone to the others. Additionally, as mentioned under Master of Illusion, She's the only member of Simeone's forces who aids her boss in the final level, by using her illusions to slow Zizou or Day down.
- Gorgeous Gorgon: She's a skimpily dressed sexy woman who is actually a magical being with snake-like red eyes and her cape look like bat wings.
- Master of Illusion: She is apparently the one responsible for creating the illusions of the Magic Lion Corps used in the Boss Rush.
- Ms. Fanservice: She wears a low cut outfit that exposes her cleavage and thigh high heels.
- Navel-Deep Neckline: Rivals Al as the most "stacked" character in the game, and her very low neckline exposes a great deal of it.

- My Master, Right or Wrong: This is how she responds when she's asked by Day why she's following a villain like Simeone.
- No Sense of Humor: She lacks a sense of humor, according to her profile on the official website.
- Slasher Smile: She wears an awkward, toothy grin most of the time.
