Shadowchasers In General
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Every member is equipped with a dwarven forged sword that is invisible to Mundane eyes.
- Impartial Purpose-Driven Faction: While the Shadowchasers will work, and make deals, with governments, they are not beholden to them.
- Organization with Unlimited Funding: Thanks to Jalal's vast wealth.
Jalal Stormbringer
The Founder and Leader of the Shadowchasers himself. The half-dragon son of a Gold Dragon named Jamor Stormbringer, Jalal inherited his immortality and vast fortune after his father was assassinated by a rival. After avenging his father, Jalal realized he needed to do something with his newfound fortune and immortality, and thus, he created the Shadowchasers.
- Big Good: Of the entire Shadowchaser Series, as he founded the group and personally coordinates every branch.
- Crazy-Prepared: Knows exactly what can kill him, and has prepared in the event he confronts such things.
- Complete Immortality: Can not be killed except by a small number of things.
- Embarrassing Nickname: Some poke fun at him with "Jalal the Dragonblind" after an incident where he mistook the female minotaur Terra Ironhoof for male and got beaten up for it.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Gold Dragon on his father's side, human on his mother's.
Neo Domino Shadowchasers
Shichiro Osaka
- Magical Seventh Son: Believes that he might owe his being Aware to this.
- Samurai: In The Power Primordial, Shichiro alters his deck to focus on the Seven Samurai monsters.
Michiko "Ember" Eiko
- Audience Surrogate: Acts as one in the original fic, asking all the questions the audience might have regarding how the Shadowchasers work.
- Playing with Fire: Uses various Fire attribute monsters.
Maurice "Gears" Poston
- Dark Is Not Evil: Uses the Allies of Justice, which were created to oppose the Worms.
- Embarrassing Name: Really dislikes being called by his real name, with the implications that he was picked on for it.
Kaede "Jinx" Noriko
- Barbarian Hero: Uses the X-Sabers.
- The Gambler: Used a number of gamble themed cards in the original Shadowchasers fanfic, but abandoned them after the story's conclusion.
- Known Only by Their Nickname: the only characters to call her Kaede are Jalal and a friend of her family.

Hyde Vance
- Yōkai: His deck consists of these, including a few created for the fic.
Faye Heng-Ai
- Healing Winds: Her deck revolves around Life point recovery.
Alice "Ace"
- Beast Master: Uses a Beast deck.
- Do Not Call Me "Paul": She hates being called Alice, partially because she hates the story Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
- Unknown Rival: To Ember. Ace joined the Shadowchasers round the same time Ember did and is jealous of the latter's accomplishments. It is also completely one-sided.
Barron Diego
- The Dandy: Is obsessed with looking as cool as possible, to the point that the trait influences his monsters.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Uses a Fiend deck yet is a heroic character, and his monsters will obey his commands to hold back when attacking.

Jacob Dugan
- Last-Name Basis: Aside from when he first introduces himself to Ben, everyone, including the narrative, refers to him as Dugan.
Nicole Belvins
- Amazon Brigade: Uses the Amazoness monsters.
- Religious Bruiser: A devote follower of St. Cuthbert, although not able to use divine magic.
Karl Hudson
- An Ice Person: Uses an Ice Barrier deck in Torment.
- Technopath: Comes with being a Shadowjack. By Conspiracy, he's upgraded to a full on Technomancer.

Dante Connors
- Elemental Powers: Dante has six decks, one for each attribute/element in the game of Duel Monsters, plus one more.
- Air is represented by Armed Dragons.
- Earth has Armor monsters.
- Water has Frogs.
- Fire has Laval.
- Darkness has Genex Allies.
- Light has Three Musketeers of Face Cards.
- His seventh deck has a mix of Light and Dark monsters.
Ophelia
- Ritual Magic: All three of her decks revolve around Ritual Monsters.
- Team Chef: And so good at it the Massachusetts Shadowchasers have never felt the need to hire a cook.
Jebediah Johan Belmont
- Confusion Fu: At first glance, his deck looks like a simple Warrior Toolbox deck. In reality, he swaps in different members of the Legendary Planets series.
- Known Only by Their Nickname: Generally called Jeb, rather than by his full name.

- Blow You Away: Uses a Mist Valley deck that also includes Simurgh and a few other Wind attribute monsters.
Hank Richards
- Adventure Archaeologist: In a similar vein as Indiana Jones, just working for the Shadowchasers instead of a museum.
Douglas Bowmaker
- Brave Scot: Scottish and a brave Shadowchaser.
Penelope
- Magic Music: Trained in Bardic Magic.
Edgar McDonald
- Old Master: About sixty when first introduced and noted to have many accomplishments under his belt.
Maddie
Edgar's sixth, and latest, apprentice.- Mook Maker: Her deck revolves around Token generation and use.
Red Feather
- Everybody Has Standards: Loves nature, animals, and dislikes technology, but considers PETA to be a bunch of lunatics.
- Meaningful Rename: Once was known as White Feather, but when members of her environmental activist group carried out an act of ecoterrorism that got people killed, she changed it to Red Feather, to represent the blood she felt had stained her cause.
- Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: Since she disdains technology, she never watches TV or goes on the Internet, so almost all pop culture references go over her head.
- Sentai: Uses the Nature-themed Elemental HEROs from the GX Manga.
