Voiced by: Laura Stahl
"All I need is cute."

- Polar Opposite Twins: With her twin sister, Luna. The chipper and upbeat Sunny, like previous generations of Madisons, attends Rainbow High and has an affinity for colors, while the brooding and overly sensitive Luna is the first of their family to attend Shadow High, preferring shades of gray. Sunny also studies animation while Luna is taking courses in live-action filmmaking.
Jade Hunter
Voiced by: Jenny Yokobori (Seasons 1-2), Frankie Kevich (Season 3 onwards)
"Maybe I'll get a therapy tarantula. Just 'cause. This is me. Any questions?"
- Ambiguously Bi: Jade has a close relationship with Bella even after her expulsion. She’s sensitive only around Bella and gets defensive when she is hurt. Violet even uses a ship name hashtag with hearts while describing their relationship in “The Vi Life”. In addition in episode 10, even Jade isn’t resistant to River’s charm.
- Berserk Button:
- Jade doesn’t like those who hurt her friends. If it weren’t for the others present she would likely confront Colin herself physically.
- Jade especially hates it when Bella gets hurt. She shows zero mercy to anyone who does, even if it’s a close friend like Violet.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Green.
- Colourful Theme Naming: Jade is a shade of green. Her surname comes from the shade "hunter green".
- Informed Attribute: She's described to be "sporty", but asides the Cheer project Jade is never seen participating in sports.

- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy to Bella's Girly Girl.
- Shout-Out: Her green hair and baggy clothes instantly liken her to Billie Eilish.
Skyler Bradshaw
Voiced by: Anairis Quiñones
"Classic never goes out of style."
- Beware the Nice Ones: In the "Ask Us Anything", it's revealed Skyler has cut off all connections to Colin since the Color Block Party and their breakup.
- Color Contrast: The red-blue kind with Ruby, who she shares the protagonist status with in episodes 5-6.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Blue - specifically, with a lot of denim.

Violet Willow
Voiced by: Kira Buckland
"Diva by nature. Royal by choice."
- Break the Haughty: Ruby and Jade give her the Humble Pie in "Going Viral".
- Casting Gag: Kira Buckland voices a teenage Girly Girl who has a love for royal fancies and tends to think for herself over others and has a pet cat. Basically Violet is Girls!Jewel Sparkles who's all purple instead of pink.
- Character Development: A slight detail in "Amaya's Time". Violet asks River and Amaya if she can vlog about their first date before she does it, showing she has learned from the fallout of "Going Viral".
- As seen in the following “Vi-Life”, Violet doesn’t want her friends to be devastated by disrespectful boyfriends again, learning from the Colin incident in “Double Date Disaster” and “Gurlfriend Take Over”.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Purple — though a shade more like lavender.
- Color Contrast: The yellow-purple kind with Sunny.
- Colourful Theme Naming: Both Violet's first name and surname are taken from purple flowers.
- Drama Queen: Biggest example is in the recap "Vi Life" for "Gurlfriend Take Over", Violet hyping up a boy in teal as a mystery to be solved next time... until Skyler busts the mystery in a few seconds by revealing he's River Kendall.
- Foil: She contrasts heavily with the other social media influencer Karma.
- In their In-Universe videos, Violet vlogs about her daily life and features interviews with her friends while Karma discusses news around Rainbow High instead.
- Violet has had falling outs with her friends (although she makes up with them later) while Karma doesn’t seem to have any quarrels with her Best Friend Stella so far.
- Karma is heavily implied to not think the highest about Violet, however Violet aspires to be like and collaborate with the larger influencer.
- Funny Background Event: At the end of “Double Date Disaster”, the camera shows everyone staring at Colin... well, everyone except Violet, who’s digging in her purse for a pen.
- Before Jade confronts Colin in “Gurlfriend Take Over”, Violet tries to hand said pen to her friends to sign the releases. Then she finally takes matters seriously and gives Colin a cold stare.
- Graceful Ladies Like Purple: Her signature color is purple, and she is among one of the more feminine characters.
- Hidden Heart of Gold: In River’s interview for “The Vi-Life” Violet is shown to be heavily protective about Amaya, and clearly doesn’t want to see him break her heart anytime soon.
- Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!: In "Going Viral", Violet incidentally made Bella a viral joke with the upload of the vlog about her expulsion. She ends up on the receiving end with Ruby and Jade uploading a video of her "Bubble Boogie" dance unwarranted.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While Violet can be insensitive and self-centered, she's generally sweet in "The Vi Life" and has moments where she genuinely cares for her friends. She holds heavy resentment over Colin and takes any moment she can in "The Vi Life" to mock him because of what he did to Skyler and Ruby.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: Although she’s more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, she has a pet cat named Mr. Whiskers (who also was her first interviewee).
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl to Ruby's Tomboy.
- Unreliable Narrator: Puts her own take on the events discussed in the recap series "The Vi Life", which in turn is her In-Universe web show.
- What the Hell, Hero?: “Going Viral” reveals Violet uploaded a video of Bella crying after being cut online, and let it rack numbers. Jade and Ruby then had it with her lack of care for others.
Avery Styles
Voiced by: Laura Stahl
"Never follow, always lead."
- Et Tu, Brute??: When Ainsley switches from Rainbow High to Shadow High she is completely devastated, and her makeup becomes caked with her tears.
- Girl Posse: The leader of the As, the star clique of Rainbow High.
- Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She mainly wears lilac hair.
- Hime Cut: Her main hairstyle has her lilac hair as this, but in her illustration and her first episode appearance it was in a side part.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: At the surface she's uptight, but she's supportive of the freshmen. She even lets the main cast preview her inventory in episode 5.
- Meaningful Name: She's a stylist sewing her own collection and dresses in "every style", making her full name all the more fitting.
- Nonstandard Character Design: The only character so far to not be based on a specific color.
- Not So Stoic: Her face beams greatly while cheering for Aidan, showing she deeply cares for the other As.
- Out-of-Character Moment: In "Going Viral" she and the other As mock Violet's "Bubble Boogie" dance, which is behavior unexpected from an upperclassman, a prefect leader even. Her previous and later appearances have never portrayed her to be as smug as she is here.
- Pink Means Feminine: Her second wig is hot pink in a Hime Cut as well.
- Punny Name: Her name sounds like "every style".
Wave 2 Characters
Stella Monroe
Voiced by: Deneen Melody
"I fancy a bit of fabulous."
- Best Friend: She hangs out with Karma.
- Blue Blood: She's a marquess.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Magenta pink.
- Establishing Character Moment: As shown in episode 5, she won’t let anyone get in her way. Literally.Stella: A Prefect Party? I got to get ready now! (Immediately gets up from her seat and pushes Sheryl aside to exit the room) Mooove!
- Foreign Exchange Student: Though her parents aren't too keen on her concluding her private lessons to study in the United States, Stella enrolled anyway.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Stella enrolled into Rainbow High to join a school life where she isn’t pampered like a royal.
- National Stereotypes: Heavy accent, relation to royalty, love for tea and crumpets—it’s definitely not obvious that she’s British.
- Pink Means Feminine: Her theme color is fuchsia.
- Rebellious Princess: While her feelings about being a marquess aren’t shown yet, Stella has been yearning for a way out of the castle (having been raised her all her life) and took the Rainbow High scholarship as her ticket out.
- Recurring Extra: She’s a recurring character in the background and occasionally involved in the plot.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: Double subverted. At first she may seem more concerned with herself but Stella is extremely well-mannered, as she treats Sheryl to tea and crumpets after the infamous "Double Date Disaster" scene.
- Shout-Out: Her surname "Monroe" references Marilyn Monroe, who wore a fuschia dress in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
Bella Parker
Voiced by: Brittany Cox
"Own it! I would!"
- Beware the Nice Ones: Has a bit of an outburst in “Double Date Disaster” when Poppy suddenly barges into the dorm.Poppy: (suddenly bursts through door) Guess what!
Bella: You’re gonna learn to KNOCK!? - The Bus Came Back: Following episode 8, she makes occasional appearances via video call. She’s also featured in the “Turn Your Color Up” music video alongside Amaya although she attends Rainbow High after Bella's expulsion onwards.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Pink.

- Decoy Protagonist: Introduced as part of the main runway group alongside the first six characters, and had a prominent role until episode 7, where she is replaced by Amaya.
- Embarrassment Plot: Bella's embarrassment from a viral "Vi Life" featuring her sobbing from being expelled is the catalyst of "Going Viral".
- Foregone Conclusion: She is noticeably absent in the first scene of the first episode, which takes place in the future. The reasoning behind her absence is revealed in episode 7.
- Girly Girl: She's very girly, especially when compared to her close friend, Jade.
- Hide Your Lesbians: Her relationship with Jade is as close to a couple, with moments such as going to the Color Block Party together like each other’s date. Violet even uses #Jella in “The Vi-Life”. But Bella gets expelled midway through the series and Jade is seen crushing on River in “Bring On Rainbow Cheer”, implying she wasn’t in a relationship all along.
- Morality Pet: To Jade, as she acts softer than usual around Bella. Noticeably after her expulsion, Jade gets colder toward the others.
- Nice Girl: Is an overall sweet girl even to Amaya, who takes up her runaway group spot.
- Pink Means Feminine: All in pink and pretty girly.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: A pale pink-haired Nice Girl.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The girly girl to Jade's Tomboy.
Karma Nichols
Voiced by: Shanta Parasuraman
"Hold my phone."
- Always Someone Better: Her profile states that her older sisters are this to her.
- Best Friend: She's often accompanied with Stella.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Neon green.
- Foil: She contrasts heavily with the other social media influencer Violet.
- Violet is into a glamorous, royal style while Karma is more down-to-earth in fashion.
- Violet, although dramatic and insensitive about certain topics, maintains a sweet and upbeat tone in “The Vi-Life” where as Karma takes a more inquisitive, gossipy tone in “Kontent With Karma”.
- Violet has enthusiastic support from her mother and her childhood friend Sunny, while Karma, although coming from a family of Rainbow High graduates, remains in the shadow of her older sisters.
- Violet is eager to collaborate Karma, but it’s heavily implied Karma looks down upon if not mocks Violet behind her back.
- Unreliable Narrator: A more egregious case compared to Vi, "Kontent with Karma" is packed with insane gossip that likely is Malicious Slander.
Krystal Bailey
Voiced by: Tatiana Varria
"If you didn't hear it from me, you didn't hear it."
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Indigo.
- A Day in the Limelight: In the episode “Shining Star”. Krystal is currently the only non-runaway group character to be a main character in a webisode (outside of “The Vi Life”).
- Punny Name: The head journalist of The Scene is named Krystal. You can say she’s omniscient and all-knowing, like she possesses a “crystal ball”.
- Purple Is Powerful: Wears indigo and is a daring head of the newspaper.
- Shout-Out: The Scene heavily references Vogue covers, and resembles a Fashion Magazine more.
River Kendall
Voiced by: Zach Aguilar
"You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing."
- Chick Magnet: Described as “one of those guys in high school everyone has a crush on.” Amaya and even Jade swoon over him.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Teal blue.
- Colourful Theme Naming: Rivers are seen as blue.
- Hidden Depths:
- Although he loves football, River has a great interest in pursuing an acting career.
- In his "Vi-Life" interview River reveals he was raised with a single mother and has an older sister, hence he is respectful and polite (without personal gain) towards women.
- Lovable Jock: He’s on the football team, and has a sensitive side.
- Official Couple: With Amaya since "Amaya's Time". Unfortunately, he ends things rather harshly in Season 3 when his failings get to him.
- Punny Name: "Kendall" is a play on "Ken Doll".
- The One Guy: Of wave 2.
- Trauma Conga Line: Suffers a BIG one in the middle of Season 3. He was on the news team to promote Rainbow Vision at Rainbow High, but because he auditioned with his band for the contest as well, he was ousted by Phaedra due to it being a “conflict of interests”. Then when he actually gets a chance to perform with his group, then immediately bomb by not getting a single spotlight from the judges and don’t make it past the first round. Worst of all, these two major failures one after the other put a major strain on his romance with Amaya until it comes to a head with a seriously self-conscious River questioning why someone like her would see someone like him and anguishly declaring that he needs a break from the two of them after the stress of everything happening to him.
Amaya Raine
Voiced by: Brittany Lauda
"Be bold like the rainbow."
- Chekhov's Gunman: Introduced outside the main runway group, and becomes one of the main characters in the series halfway.

- Colourful Theme Naming: Amaya is an Arabic name meaning "night rain" and what follows rain is a rainbow.
- Crush Blush: Parodied in episode 15, where Amaya’s face turns literally sickeningly bright red because of Jade’s “mood makeup” while trying to ask River out.
- Doomed by Canon: Judging from the first scene to episode 1, something is going to happen to Amaya which will render her absent from the runaway group minutes before their first project.
- Mystical White Hair: Subverted. Amaya has white hair in her initial look, but she comes from a humble small town. Then is fully averted when she dyes her hair to the full-rainbow look in episode 10.
- Nice Girl: Despite the varied attitudes the runaway group gave to her upon arrival, Amaya remains kind-hearted and successfully makes better relations with them in "Amaya's Discovery".
- Official Couple: With River after "Amaya's Time". They have a messy breakup in Season 3 however.
- Rainbow Motif: It's more prominent in her first doll. Her wave 2 doll has more of a "CMYK" motif.
- Ship Tease: She develops a crush on River in episode 10.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Amaya's second look is the most alike to Rainbow Dream of the previous series.
- Walking Spoiler: It’s hard to discuss Amaya’s presence in the web series’ roster without getting into her taking the expelled Bella’s spot.

Voiced by: Lizzie Freeman
- Ambiguously Jewish: "Meyer" is a Jewish surname, which contributes more to her characterization being a massive Cher Horowitz reference.

- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Buttercup yellow.
- Flower Motifs: Despite what her name may imply, she accessorizes with daisies. She gets another one in the form of her color, buttercup yellow.
- Reality Is Unrealistic: A meta example. A lot of people with albinism (or some form thereof) can and do look something like Delila. In people, "albinism" is lack of pigment but not always complete absence. Likewise, many people with albinism also require glasses.

Sabrina St. Cloud
Voiced by: Paris Dunbar
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Rose Gold.
- I Just Want to Be Special: She wants to be a star, which while she already is one, she ends up put out the spotlight by her group mates.

- Trademark Favorite Food: Like Amaya, the Rainbow Union's croissants.
- Vanity Is Feminine: Her profile states that she is usually late because she spends a lot of time on her makeup and jewelry.

- Meaningful Name: Her first name Phaedra means "bright," and her last name references the sun's movement to the west, AKA sunset, her theme color.
Paris Hilton
Voiced by: Paris Hilton
- As Herself: Paris Hilton voices herself, though subverted in that she is cast as the Headmistress of Pacific Coast High rather than a regular celebrity.

- Those Two Guys: She and Ash are almost always seen together and are shown to be good friends.
Luna Madison
Voiced by: Laura Stahl
’’”You will never influence the world by being just like it.’’”
- Light Feminine Dark Feminine: She's the darker twin to her sister Sunny's light.
- Polar Opposite Twins: Luna and Sunny are as dissimilar as the sun and moon, night and day. Sunny is bright, energetic, and social, whereas Luna is more reserved, calm, and is far less social. And Luna cannot stand being in the same room as Sunny, though, that might be because of her role as the Black Sheep as much to do with Sunny as a person.

- The Fashionista: Shanelle is a Couture Designer.
- The Prima Donna: She demanded a director's chair, reverse osmosis water and fresh fruit from Luna for her to be in their film.

’’Naomi:”I’d agree with you but then we’d both be wrong.’’”
’’Veronica:”You say “double trouble” like it’s a bad thing.’’”
- Big Bad Duumvirate: Like the De'Vious twins, they are in the top of the social pyramid of Shadow High.
- Bubblegum Popping: Veronica tends to do this whenever she likes.
- Dark Is Evil: They are the main antagonists of Season 3 and wear black articles of clothing. With the few pops of color in them being their rainbow eye shadow and their lips which is purple for Naomi and pink for Veronica.
- Identical Twin ID Tag: The most visible difference between the two is that Veronica wears a spiky headband and has pink lips—and in the dolls, came with a permanent gum bubble.
- Polar Opposite Twins: Naomi is loud, reactive, and is hot headed while Veronica is quiet, observant and knows when to keep her cool.
The New Girl (UNMARKED SPOILERS)
Ainsley Slater
Voiced by: Jenny Yokobori (Seasons 1-2), Kimberly Siu (Season 3 onwards)
’’”The only thing higher than my standards is my ponytail.”’’
- Always Someone Better: She feels her sister Audrey is this, as she is always being compared to her by her two surgeon parents. Their high expectations are the reason Ainsley put more pressure on herself with two majors, and it’s implied that it may have something to do with her switching schools…
- Best Friend: The closest of the As to Avery. Which makes it hurt her more than anyone when she ends up betraying them by swapping over to Shadow High.
- Color Contrast: Her theme color is black to parallel with Aiden. Its far more fitting when she becomes a Shadow High Student.
- Evil Costume Switch: When she announces during the Shadow High ceremony that she is leaving Rainbow High, the lights turn off and on to reveal that her Rainbow High look has now been swapped out for an edgier Shadow High outfit.

- Green-Skinned Space Babe: A teenaged one; while she's not stated to be from space, she's green all over with a space theme.
Dia Mante
Voiced by: Alex Cazares
- It's All About Me: During her introduction, she notes that if the spotlight isn’t on her, then it’s pointing in the wrong direction. This attitude ends up costing her when she becomes the first boot of her team when her domineering insistence on being the team leader and pushing for her design ideas while ignoring and shooting down her teammates inputs rubs them all the wrong way and leads them all to send her back to class. Even Maria herself notes that while her final product may have been good, her unprofessional behavior during the process of making it ended up hurting her team more than anything and that she needed to learn to make sure everyone was heard in a group project if she wanted to make it big.
- Meaningful Name: Dia Mante derives from diamante, Spanish for diamond.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: She's based on Rihanna and her 2017 Coachella look.

Reina “Glitch” Crowne
Voiced by: Stephanie Southerland
- Beneath the Mask: Onstage, Glitch is shown to be a cool, slick and confident hostess full of sass, showmanship, and stage presence. Offstage, however, the real Reina is shown to be much more quiet, reserved, and unsure of herself, constantly struggling with performance anxiety and finding her own voice.
- Meaningful Name: She appears to teleport and "glitch" around the Shadow High auditorium in her debut episode
- Performance Anxiety: The Rainbow Vision Hostess is revealed to be nowhere near as self-confident as she appears offstage and regularly suffers from this beneath a mask of coolness. This is especially true when it comes to singing, as her first attempt to conquer at Rainbow Vision ended in disaster for her when she froze up on stage… making it rather awkward that singing a song in the finals is a requirement for her hosting gig.
- Reused Character Design: She uses a fair ton of recolored models from other characters like her ponytail which is from Jade's runway look, her earrings are Nicole's, her combat boots are Ainsley's and her outfit is from the Black and White Background Girl.
Rexx McQueen
Voiced by: Irving Green
- Meaningful Name: He is named after the fashion brand, Alexander McQueen.

Webisode-Exclusive Characters
Colin
Voiced by: Hayden Summerall
- Amusing Injuries: Gets hit behind the neck with a football (presumably thrown from the second floor) during a time-lapse sequence in episode 9.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Was introduced as Skyler’s loving boyfriend in episode 3. But episodes 5-6 reveal he doesn’t feel the same way about her anymore, and cheats on her with Ruby.
- Butt-Monkey: "Girlfriend Take Over" onwards Colin is put as a background character at best and a punchline at worst. Case-and-point, anytime he comes up on "The Vi-Life" he's painted in such light and everyone (even Skyler) is unapologetic about it. Karma (the idea, not the character) is working its way here.
- Casanova Wannabe: He tried to manage two dates, one with his girlfriend Skyler and another with Ruby, but his plans got screwed when the two friends wanted to have a double date.
- Official Couple: With Skyler... until episode 6.
- Oh, Crap!: From Violet catching him with Ruby on camera, to Skyler and Ruby going up on stage after reconciling and indirectly referencing his double-timing... Safe to say Colin is going to be single for a good while.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Even Colin was allowed to have a few chuckles with Violet’s embarrassing video in episode 11.
- Ship Tease: Was revealed in episode 3 to be Skyler’s boyfriend who also got accepted into Rainbow High. They promised to “keep things chill”, well... that’s what Colin made Skyler think.

- Meaningful Name: Her name references Delfine China plate patterns just like her design.
Fransisca De Silva
- Meaningful Name: Fransisca refers to a species of butterfly just like her runway outfit
Ms. Lou Wright
Voiced by: Rebeka Thomas
- Felony Misdemeanor: Fail a project or break a school rule, you will be expelled with no mercy. Bella learns this the hard way in Episode 7. And due to Sabrina performing solo instead of a group with the other Rainbow Divas at Rainbow Vision, this blatant breaking of rules disqualifies her.
- The Glasses Come Off: She takes her sunglasses off when she tells Bella she has been expelled in episode 7.
- Good Cop/Bad Cop: The "bad cop" teacher, as she's aloof and more stern compared to Ms. Morton. Ironically inverted when dealing with Bella's leave, Ms. Wright drops the bomb in an uncharacteristically as-gentle-as-possible manner and seemed greatly disappointed in her student.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: A parody of Anna Wintour as a fashion school principal.
- Sassy Black Woman:
Alfie Kingsley
- Plot Allergy: Tessa ran into a perfume-filled auditorium because she thought Alfie’s allergies were acting up.
- Reused Character Design: Recolored version of Ash Silverstone (without a jacket).
- Ship Tease: With Tessa. They have many of these moments, and even the other students are invested in their relationship.
Emerald McNabb
Voiced by: Bryan Green
- Early-Bird Cameo: He was first mentioned by River in "All About Aidan."
- The Faceless: Averted, as he appeared in the Season 1 finale.

- Official Couple: With Georgia Bloom.
- Reused Character Design: He uses Colin's hair, River's hoodie, and Aidan's football jacket.
- The Voiceless: Averted in Season 3; Episode 8 when he finally after being named 2 seasons prior.
Ms. Pamela Morton
Voiced by: Tara Sands
- Ambiguously Brown: Speculated to be of Latina descent.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Downplayed. She's seemingly gentle and understanding to the girls at first, but in episode 8 she shows a more hissy and strict attitude on the side of the authoritarian rules recalling Bella's expulsion. However, she doesn't show any more antagonism outside that.
- The Faceless: Subverted, her face is shown in the second episode of "The Vi Life".
- Good Cop/Bad Cop: The "good cop" teacher, although she abides by Rainbow High's rules she's more approachable toward the students and has more interactions with them. Ironically inverted when dealing with Bella's leave, Ms. Morton dismisses her coldly and demands the runaway group must welcome Amaya.
- My Nayme Is: "The Vi Life" spelled her name as "Ms. Morten", but it's actually "Ms. Morton" according to the credits.
- Pink Means Feminine: The second female teacher introduced, and wears pink.
Those Darn Dolls
- The Nameless: Despite the lead singer having voice lines in outside of their song, she’s never credited with a name or voice actress in the credits.
- Take That!! : They are an obvious jab at MGA's rival Mattel's Barbie. Portrayed as vapid, shallow, uses autotune and from Bottom Barrel High.
Ramona Barnes
Voiced by: Lisa Ortiz
- The Faceless: Averted when she appears at the end of the first season.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Despite not physically appearing until the end of Season 2, her stage designer contest is the catalyst behind Season 1’s big twist of Bella being expelled and replaced by Amaya.
