The Main Group

     The Group as a Whole
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ap_college_students_spoop_2.png

  • Flat Characters: The viewer doesn't learn much about them or their personalities before they get killed (or, in Taryn's case, possessed) and most of them have no importance to the plot. The only important character is Taryn, but even she has a lack of discernable traits besides it being mentioned that she doesn't like her brother's girlfriend (which is only brought up once).

     Taryn

Portrayed by: Ashley Green Elizabeth

The protagonist who is implied to have a connection to the house.

     Michael

Portrayed by: Luke Brandon Field

Taryn's brother and Niki's boyfriend.
  • Adoption Angst: Technically. The situation isn't him angsting over himself being adopted, but his sister, Taryn being adopted. When Michael finds out, he's in disbelief over the fact that Taryn is not his "real" sister (even though she is his sister, regardless of them being blood-related or not).
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish sibling to Taryn's responsible sibling. He brushes off Taryn's concerns and tells her not to "ruin everything" with her worrying.

     Niki

Portrayed by: Nikole Howell

Michael's girlfriend. She invites a few of her friends to her upcoming birthday party.

     Scott

Portrayed by: Jakob Renken

  • Chekhov's Gun: The cross he brings comes in handy later when trying to perform an exorcism on Dianna, of course.
  • Driven to Suicide: The cop encourages Scott to commit suicide after the exorcism doesn't work, saying his God can't same him and there's only one way out. He then shoots himself without hesitation (or after a few hours just as Taryn comes in the basement, for some reason).
  • Flat Character: His character can basically be summed up as "church".
  • Hollywood Exorcism: Scott and Michael try to expel the demon from Dianna by pinning her down and yelling "God, the father, commands you!" It doesn't work.
  • Token Religious Teammate: He brings a cross, several bibles, and talks about church a lot, just to make absolutely sure the audience knows he's Christian. Jenna may also be religious, since Scott says they met at church, but her religiousness is not as overt as Scott's.

     Jenna

Portrayed by: Jaime Sarchet

  • Ankle Drag: Jenna gets dragged into a dark room by Lizzie Borden's ghost and that's the last we see of her.
  • Flat Character: Despite being a part of the main group, Jenna is just kinda there and the only thing we know about her comes from Scott saying they met eachother at church. She also has the least amount of lines.

Others

     Dianna Eastbrook

Portrayed by: Donna Spangler

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20240429_051236_youtube.jpg

The "eccentric" homeowner.

  • Demonic Possession: She's possessed by the spirit of Lizzie Borden throughout the film.
  • Blatant Lies: When they're all having dinner at the table, there's suddenly a loud door slam. Dianna then says it's just the wind.
  • The Stoic: She has a monotone voice and an expressionless face 24/7.
  • Wicked Stepmother: Dianna reveals that she's Taryn's stepmother who married her biological father.

     Lizzie Borden

Portrayed by: Nicole Holland

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tt3108604.jpg
The ghost of the infamous woman who allegedly murdered her parents with an axe in 1892.
  • Ax-Crazy: She puppeteers Dianna and goes around killing a lot of the characters one by one during the climax of the film. Bonus points for her weapon of choice being an axe.
  • Demonic Possession: Lizzie was the victim of this and the perpetrator. She's in possession of Dianna for most of the film and then possesses Taryn at the end.

     Officer Alvarez

Portrayed by: Nicholas Talone

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He presents himself as an easygoing cop, but he let's all of Taryn's friends die (which includes encouraging Scott to commit suicide) just to bring her back to the Borden house. In the end, he causes Taryn to get possessed by Lizzie Borden's spirit.
