* TooBleakStoppedCaring: Considering the psychotic nature of both Mateo and Molly, the uncaring attitude of Killian, and the overall monstrous acts of the Sigil Holders they encounter, it's very easy to not care about what ultimately happens to everyone.

* SerendipityWritesThePlot: The primary reason Sigil Holder after Sigil Holder is introduced after the Nocturne arc and most of the story from thereon in is them fighting while Mateo's adventure goes on in the background... and why pretty much all of them are dead by the climax, [[spoiler:where Andromeda and Cetus appear]]. WordOfGod loves creating characters and writing them in extreme situations, but can't stand [[KudzuPlot Kudzu Plots]], so they introduced Sigil Holder after Sigil Holder into the story and had them constantly fight each other, but to keep the story from being too confusing and stop too many plot threads from being left unresolved, they had the Sigil Holders die off, one by one, so all that was left to focus on in the end were four resolutions: Mateo, Molly, and Killian reuniting; Cassius and [[spoiler:Melissa]] reconciling; V reaching her true form; and the six teaming up to vanquish Andromeda.

* AcceptableTargets: Superheroes, as Sigil Holders are pretty much this setting's answer to them. The majority of them, however, are either horrifyingly cruel or outright insane, with the best ones gradually getting worse the more their sigils corrupt them. Not to mention a lot of them are ''very'' irresponsible with their powers, with even those with more benign powers like Larka and Sally often causing easily avoidable casualties.

Despite his insanity, he's a brutally cunning strategist, able to think two steps ahead of his enemies, and ultimately ends his time as the story's BigBad [[spoiler:successfully getting Mateo's half of the Red Star, forcing Mateo into hiding]]. However, while [[spoiler:having the complete Red Star]] makes him even more dangerous than he was before, the story begins to de-emphasize his intelligence by showing the fallout of [[spoiler:his decision to leave the remaining members of Nocturne for dead]]. That, and the introduction of ''more'' Sigil Holders, most of which are far craftier and more experienced with their powers compared to him. All this causes his flaws to become much more apparent, and shows how insignificant he is in the grand scheme of things despite [[spoiler:being a major player in most Sigil Holders' lives]].
