* CharacterDerailment: The plot of this episode (and its role in the season arc) relies on Burnham repeating the same type of mistake that nearly ended her career in season one: disobeying a direct order, going rogue, and putting her captain in an untenable position. It also comes right after returning to the XO position just two episodes earlier. (Saru even [[LampshadeHanging compares it to being on the ''Shenzhou'']] again.) Obviously, the outcomes are much different, which is why she isn't tossed into the brig again, but it does render her subsequent promotion at the end of the season much more suspect than it would have been otherwise.
