In contrast to many others, Luigi preemptively stay's himself even through his transformations; when he gets dry, he instead goes for the viewer instead of Mario, meaning he still has some of his old self inside of his dehydrated form to know not to turn on his brother. Instead of a spotlight-stealing self-insert esque third wheel, he's oddly wholesome in the alleged reason we've never seen him in a Mario game; he's been offscreen, everywhere, instead cheering on his two bro's from the sidelines at any chance.
