* IKnewIt: Some of the fandom called [[spoiler:Aika being the mage of Exodus and being her own killer]] once the suspects list had been narrowed down.

YMMV tropes can't be played with. Either they apply or they don't.

* ArcFatigue: Averted. Almost five entire episodes are spent in one place, with virtually no action and a whole lot of Mahiro and Yoshino arguing with Samon. [[MundaneMadeAwesome This is much less boring than it sounds.]]

* ArcFatigue: Averted. Almost five entire episodes are spent in one place, with virtually no action and a whole lot of Mahiro and Yoshino arguing with Samon. [[MundaneMadeAwesome This is much less boring than it sounds.]]
* EnsembleDarkhorse: The two old Kusaribe ladies are extremely popular for [[LampshadeHanging lampshading and mocking]] Hakaze´s attraction to Yoshino.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Looks like [[LightNovel/FateZero the mage killer]] [[Creator/RikiyaKoyama Emiya Kiritsugu]] is now Samon, the head of a mage clan.
** [[Creator/KoukiUchiyama Yoshino]] and [[Creator/ToshiyukiToyonaga Mahiro]] are together again as [[Anime/YuriOnIce skaters]], though their personalities took a hundred-and-eighty degree turn there. That, and they're now rivals instead of FireForgedFriends.
* HoYay: There's a lot of gratuitous touching between the boys on chapter covers. (Not so much in the manga itself, though — so [[http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbleww8gki1r7gyca.gif the anime took it upon itself to fix that]].)
** There is also that flashback scene where Aika tells Mahiro that he would be the kind of person suited to date Yoshino. When Mahiro acts disturbed by the idea, she clarifies that she didn't mean it literally. But then adds that he should treat Yoshino well, because no matter what happens, [[TheNotLoveInterest he will remain by Mahiro's side]].
* MagnificentBitch: As the "Mage of Exodus", Aika Fuwa's duty was to stop the Tree of Genesis from massacring modern civilization and restarting the world, and would sacrifice anything necessary to accomplish it for a bright future for Yoshino and Mahiro. With her ability to foresee future events, Aika imparted cryptic advise to Mahiro and Yoshino ensuring they'd survive the incoming disasters she couldn't stop. Later learning about her death from Hakaze, Aika realized her death was a suicide she planned since it was mandatory to set in motions the events needed to save the world. Resolving herself to her fate, she fought off Hakaze who was trying to prevent it and then killed herself and her parents, leaving behind final messages to her loved ones to explain the truth and hoping they can move forward despite being distraught from her actions.
* {{Moe}}: Hakaze in the latter half of the series.
* {{Narm}}: When Hakaze reveals the date, [[spoiler: and proves that she's stuck two years in the past]], she doesn't specify the date, but does the common "XX AD," thing. Many fans wound up backtracking back through a particularly dramatic and suspenseful sequence.
** In the anime, when Samon is thinking to himself, the background becomes a conspicuous purple, cheap "wee-oo, wee-oo" sound effects are played in the background, and Samon himself appears to be floating through space. It's difficult to take seriously. There's also the orgasmic gasping noises he makes when it seems like he's been out played. And his frequent {{Sword Plant}}ing quickly turns into an OverlyLongGag. Whether all this is ''supposed'' to be funny is hard to determine; it's very silly, but everything going on around him is dead serious.
*** Not to mention, his blatant and repeated [[VerbalTic overuse of the word]] '''[[LargeHam SHOUNEN!]]''' (young men!) was hilarious.
* RomanticPlotTumor: The "who was Aika's boyfriend" question sometimes overtakes the whole saving the world issue, and even after TheReveal, LoveTriangle elements take its place [[spoiler:despite the hypoteneuse being ''dead'' for more than a year]].
* StrangledByTheRedString: The finale of the manga has ''three'':
** [[spoiler:Hanemura gets back together with his [[SatelliteLoveInterest ex-girlfriend]]. The extra chapters at least show why they did so--by way of a ContrivedCoincidence.]]
** [[spoiler:Mahiro introduces his new girlfriend [[SatelliteLoveInterest Mimori]] who he's apparently been dating the whole series without anyone knowing. The extra chapters at least show how they met, but not how they decided to start dating.]]
** [[spoiler:Samon and Fraulein start dating and wind up married by the end, even though there was no real indication either had feelings for each other, and they only seem paired off because they're close in age.]]
* TakeThatScrappy: Anyone who didn't like Hakaze from the beginning, or no longer liked her after she developed feelings for Yoshino, get a cathartic moment when [[spoiler: Aika gives her a MegatonPunch for making Yoshino cry]].
