* AnachronismStew: When Fog and his companions miss the ship they are scheduled to take for the travel from New York to Liverpool they visit shipping offices of several nations to find another vessel. In the german office is a flag with the colors "black red gold" displayed, despite the fact that the official colors of "Imperial Germany" in this timeera (1872) were "black white red".

* BadassMustache: Captain Nemo has a large moustache.

* TriggerHappy: Most of the population of 1872 UsefulNotes/SanFrancisco is pictured this way. The first thing they do when they see the hot air balloon in which Fog and his party have travelled from Mexico is shoot it down. Fortunately, it has been losing altitude and is close enough to the ground to land safely. Shortly after, Fog and co witness a shooting at a saloon bar, where Transfer later lures Fog into a confrontation with a local outlaw.
