* {{Bowdlerise}}: After Administrivia/TheSecondGoogleIncident, commands from the advertising that keeps the site afloat mandates that this wiki either eliminate trope pages for more sexually explicit works or find new (much less family friendly) sources of funding. A number of works the sexual explicitness of which is debatable (most prominently ''Literature/{{Lolita}}'', which has since been restored, and ''Literature/{{It}}'', which does feature underage copulation in one scene but otherwise contains little explicit sexual content) have been caught in the mass deletions. Many of the SexualHarassmentAndRapeTropes also presented problems, which resulted in less problematic trope names and a major cleanup effort.

* SitcomArchNemesis: This very wiki sometimes appears to view Wiki/TheOtherWiki this way, while believing that from the other side it's more like UnknownRival.

* GreatBigBookOfEverything: This wiki strives to be one. Compared to Wiki/TheOtherWiki, it is still in its infant stages, but, as Administrivia/ThereIsNoSuchThingAsNotability, it's definitely catching up.

** '''Creator/{{BRIAN BLESSED}}'''. Back in the days when the wiki still had formatting tools for increasing font size, the unspoken rule was that Mr. Blessed's name always be at least one size larger than the surrounding text. Nowadays, his name is still automatically spelled out in CAPS, and it's common practice to use '''[[BoldInflation BOLD TYPE]]''' for his name.

** '''Creator/{{BRIAN BLESSED}}'''. Back in the days when the wiki still had formatting tools for increasing font size, the unspoken rule was that Mr. Blessed's name always be at least one size larger than the surrounding text.

* GottaCatchThemAll: This wiki ''itself'' is a GottaCatchEmAll of tropes and archetypes from both fiction and nonfictional sources, whose success will have an [[WMG/TVTropes unknown significant meaning for the universe]]!

* StraightManAndWiseGuy: This is the Wise Guy compared to the Straight Man that is Wiki/ThatOtherWiki, being TheSnarkKnight in comparison to the more matter-of-fact Wikipedia.

* UnknownRival: This wiki versus Wiki/{{Wikipedia}} (Wiki/ThatOtherWiki if you're feeling bitter about it) with TV Tropes as the unknown one.

* MonkeysOnATypewriter: ''LetsPlay/TwitchPlaysPokemon'' is described in its page quote on this wiki as tens of thousands of monkeys fighting over ''one'' typewriter, [[{{Metaphorgotten}} half of them desperately trying to progress in the game and the other half throwing shit everywhere]].

** There's also [[TheScottishTrope one word]] ("[[spoiler:[=titular=]]]") that is currently completely filtered out because of [[YouKeepUsingThatWord perceived overuse]].

** Likewise, many of the external links on the [[invoked]]NightmareFuel and UncannyValley pages are invitations for a creep-out.

* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: All the examples on [[FanonDiscontinuity/{{Meta}} this page]], referencing this very wiki.

** Troper Tales existing in the first place. Troper Tales was only created to keep tropers from writing their own tales on the main wiki. Troper Tales ruined the reputation of TV Tropes and made the website a laughingstock of half the Internet. It was also known for attracting people who wrote stories that sounded creepy, filled with bile, psychotic, racist, sexist and ego-stroking. The admins could have either warned the tropers or banned them for writing personal tales instead of creating troper tales, since Troper Tales only reinforced the habit.
** The wiki used to have a "strike format", but it was eventually disabled as people were using it simply to sneak in {{Take That}}s and such. Texts that were previously striked are now hidden texts. The strike format however is still usable in the forums though.

* LetsSeeYouDoBetter: [[http://tropesmirrorwiki.org/index.php?title=Main_Page The Trope Wiki]] was founded as a StartMyOwn version of this very wiki because one of the Admins of TV Tropes challenged the founder of the Trope Wiki with the line, "If you think you can do better, then let's see you try." So he did. (As of the end of September, 2014, that domain is unclaimed; that mirror wiki has died or moved away to parts unknown. Possibly Cleveland.)

** DarthWiki/DarthWiki has a reputation of this due to DarthWiki/DethroningMomentOfSuck, Wall Banger,[[note]]before it was purged from the wiki[[/note]] and DarthWiki/SoBadItsHorrible. Not to mention, [[DarthWiki/TVTropesRuinedYourLife TV Tropes already ruined your life]].[[invoked]]

* AGoodNameForARockBand:
** RonTheDeathEater, according to SelfDemonstrating/RainbowDash.
** And the Wiki/PortlandPatternRepository. We're disappointed no one's used it.

* UpToEleven: One of the forums discusses this in terms of bodybuilding, noting how contestants went from being strongmen who happened to have highly defined muscles (and actually looked pretty good) to freakishly huge guys more obsessed with adding mass than being healthy.

** Similarly '''Your Mileage Will Vary''' is used as a way of referring to Your Mileage May Vary taken UpToEleven on especially controversial issues that reach a point where there is no middle ground. Your Mileage May Vary comes from car commercials that say consumers might get a different amount of mileage than is advertised, and on this wiki, means that viewers might not agree with the statement. Using "Your Mileage Will vary" implies unanimous disagreement rather than inevitable controversy.

* InsistentTerminology: The wiki has a few. For example, British television show ''Series/DoctorWho'''s main character (other than the companions, according to WordOfGod) is named "The Doctor" as is ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' 's holographic doctor who never settled on a proper name for himself. Any reference to "The Doctor" of Voyager will be followed by "no not [[Series/DoctorWho that Doctor]]."

** The Administrivia/PermanentRedLinkClub was called that because all links that were listed there were doomed to be permanently Administrivia/{{red|Link}}. Now that links show up as blue as long as an article of a given title exists in ''any Administrivia/{{namespace}}'', several PRLC members, most commonly subpages and former Main namespace redirects, are actually [[Administrivia/TVTropesGlossary blue]]. But with Night Vision mode, all the blue links are green instead.

* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: In the current version, the normal wiki has a gray header, YMMV and WMG have a yellow one, Sugar Wiki has green, and Darth Wiki has red.
