--> "Go on now, Jojo.[=JoJo=]. I promise to take good care of Danny here, and do not let sorrow consume your heart, for one day... we will meet again."

--> George looked at him, brows furrowed, "Jonathan? Why are you standing there with your mouth open? Come, sit."

--> He closed his mouth with just a bit too much force, but his legs carried him forward, however he didn't sit down, he collapsed in front of George. "J-Jojo?!"

--> His shoulders shook.

--> "I... I am so tired... I can't tell if this is my imagination again, if I am still on the verge of dying, or if I had already died." He looked up at George, his eyes full of unshed tears. "Please... please tell me this is real..."

--> "Jojo..." George frowned, taking a hand and placing it atop Jonathan's head, "I do not know what's going on, but I assure you, this is real. Are you alright? What happened?"

--> Jonathan breathed deeply, letting the tears fall, "It is a very long story..." He reached up and grabbed one of his father's hands, gripping it slightly as a smile formed on his lips, "I... I missed you so much!"

--> Sometimes he'd see Kakyoin with a hole in his stomach, sometimes he'd see Avdol and Iggy's corpses, he'd see Joseph dying before his eyes.

--> Sometimes, he'd see Jonathan getting decapitated, he'd see Dio killing his mom, sometimes it'd be him killing Jolyne, his friends, his family and his allies, those were the worst.

--> How was he supposed to explain that to Jonathan?

--> "...Jotaro?" Jonathan furrowed a brow before he reached over, planting a hand on the teenager's shoulder, startling him out of his thoughts "Are you alright?"

--> 'No, I'm literally fucked up and can't stop having nightmares and I keep seeing my dead friends everywhere and I keep seeing you without your head-'

--> "Yeah." He answered instead. "Yeah, sorry, got lost in thought."

--> Jonathan sat back, still concerned, "Are you sure? Your hands are shaking..."

--> Jotaro looked at him in surprise, looking down at his hands a second later, surprised to see he was right, the hands around the can and bag were trembling slightly.

--> Damn it.

--> "It's... It's hard, gramps..." He suddenly deflated a bit, letting go of the bag. "I know I seem like an uncaring, emotionless bastard, but all of this has affected me so badly. I don't even know where to begin. The nightmares are the worst, cause I can pretend nothing happened during the day, I can pretend everything's normal and everything's fine, but I can't do that when I sleep, and I can't tell anyone about the new ones because nobody fucking remembers."

--> He paused, breath slightly altered, "I know for sure it's like their deaths never happened, like they lived all along and we all defeated Dio together, but that's not what happened, but why the hell am I the only one who remembers?! Why am I the only one who has to endure all this-"

--> He would've kept ranting, if it hadn't been for the sudden sound of metal being crushed, and it was only when he felt the liquid spilling over his hand did Jotaro realize he had, quite literally, crushed the can in his grip, making him sigh and Jonathan yelp in surprise, "Fuck's sakes..."

--> His face was buried in Jonathan's chest, arms locked around his torso, knees digging into the cushions as he bent over.

--> Jonathan blinked, confusion rolling off him in waves as he was hugged. "Oh dear... young man, are you alright? I don't seem to understand what's happening." He chuckled nervously, considering briefly if he should push the stranger away, although he was mildly surprised to hear the teen's British accent.

--> However, when he felt cold droplets collecting on his shirt, he frowned. He thought it was his fault he made the stranger before him upset. Clearly, he had confused him for someone else, and his words could hurt him deeply. A gentleman's job is to always care for those in need, not upset them!

--> He didn't even know who this person was, but still, Jonathan took one hand and placed it softly on the teenager's brown locks, the other hand coming to pat him on the back. A way to show the teen a bit of comfort.

--> "Forgive my intrusion, I did not mean to upset you." He said gently, "I am only confused, and wish to know where I am." He explained, laying soft pats on the teenager's head and back.

--> Joseph pulled back abruptly, making Jonathan flinch slightly in surprise. His emerald eyes were just a bit red and his cheeks were tear-stained. "You didn't upset me! I just got emotional is all, sorry for jumping on you like that..." He muttered, now embarrassed by his outburst. He quickly rubbed his eyes and cheeks. "I'm just... so glad you're here, grandpa!"

--> "Dio?" Giorno asked silently, as if the name was foreign to his tongue, but his heart was starting to beat incredibly fast.

--> "Dio is my adopted brother, we are not connected by blood. My father took him in as his own, but... he has made my life Understatement rather difficult, and... well, you saw my outburst earlier, correct?"

--> At Giorno's nod, he continued.

--> "Joseph revealed to me earlier that he managed to kill me and steal my body as his own, and he's used it to cause so much harm to my family, and to people around the world. I just got so upset, and I snapped."

--> Silence lingered in the air as Giorno absorbed the words. He highly doubted Jonathan was lying, he may seem intimidating, but from what Giorno has seen, he's just an overgrown gentleman with a true spirit for kindness and justice. With a temper, but a gentleman nonetheless. He felt highly inclined to believe him, and it really would explain the warm feeling in his chest he got whenever he looked at the Hamon user. Jotaro already did tell him about his body, but hearing it from Jonathan himself was surreal, and it hit closer to home. He didn't feel like asking Jonathan about what other things Dio has done to him, just hearing the fact he was the cause of his father's death made Giorno sick to his stomach, and a bit of hate to develop for him.

--> "It's alright, I understand how you feel." Gingerly, the Stand user placed a hand on Jonathan's bicep.

--> Jonathan smiled gently, eyes raking over Giorno's features. "Now that I can properly look at you, you remind me of him. Dio, I mean. But I'm sure you are a kind person, otherwise you would not be here helping us, after all."

--> Joseph bit his lip, feeling the boy's shoulders stiff immensely under his grasp. "I'm sorry... this must be very sudden to you-"

--> "Shut up." Josuke muttered quietly, lowering his face. A dark shadow overtook his eyes, but it was obvious anger was quickly starting to take over, if the way his fists clenched were anything to go by.

--> "Josuke-"

--> "SHUT UP!" Josuke all but screamed, ripping himself away from Joseph's hands. This gathered the attention of everyone nearby, including Jonathan, who had been caught up in a conversation with Giorno, but was now staring worriedly at the forming scene.

--> Joseph's lips sealed shut, sweat starting to collect near his brow. The teen's shoulders were slowly rising up and down, and his chest heaved, as if controling his impending fury was one of the biggest's struggles he's ever faced.

--> Josuke then raised his gaze, pure anger and fire swirling in his eyes. If this were his other dad, the elderly man who often gets lost and wastes all of Josuke's money, then maybe he wouldn't be so angry, but this, this is another version of him, a younger version, and probably, the version that decided to leave his mother heartbroken and desperate to see just a glimpse of him for sixteen years, the version that decided to never call her and check how she was doing, the version that never bothered to, even if secretly, try and help her raise the Goddamn child he concieved with her.

--> No. He wouldn't vocalize any of these things to his elderly dad, for fears of screwing up things even more with his family, or just fears of causing the man a damn heart attack.

--> If he was honest with himself, the anger he had felt back then, along with a whole different array of emotions, had subsided when he saw how selfless Joseph was, so much that he risked his own life to save a baby that wasn't even his, but right now? Oh boy, the emotions were back and in full swing.

--> The Joestar took a breath, "I-I'm sorry-"

* Jotaro delivers a short but brutal TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to Jonathan, mistakenly believing him to be the reason why Dio survived.
--> "You let Dio live." Jotaro said, calmly, but his words dug deep into Jonathan. "On that ship, you hugged his head as the flames burned around you, you embraced him instead of crushing his skull or burning him alive."

--> Joseph was getting close now, yelling, and Josuke instinctively took a hold of his arms, keeping him back. Jolyne was pulling Jotaro's arm, asking what he was doing, and old Joseph was telling Jotaro to, basically, shut up. Giorno was gripping Jonathan's wrist, saying over and over that they should move, all the while Speedwagon, alternate universe Josuke, Joshu and Johnny just watched on, confusion rolling off them in waves.

--> But Jonathan just stared at Jotaro, hurt deep in his oceanic eyes as Jotaro's stayed icy cold.

--> "It's your fault we're in this mess."

--> His breath hitched.

--> "It's your fault for not finishing Dio off all those years ago. He killed most of my friends, slaughtered them. He nearly drained your grandson of all his blood, killed hundreds of innocent people, almost killed my mother. Almost killed me."

--> His heart ached.

It wasn't my fault Dio made your life a living hell and turned into a vampire using your mom's mask."

--> The giggling ceased. Jonathan looked at Giorno with wide eyes full of innocence.

--> "Danny is my only friend, mister. He is my first friend, actually."

--> That struck a cord.

--> "You... don't have any other friends, Jojo?" Josuke asked, frowning.

--> Jonathan looked at the sky again, leaning back into Josuke's chest. "No, I have always played on my own... but that's okay, because I have Danny now." He grinned, looking down at his lap so the hat would slip over his eyes, covering the tiny tears that were starting to appear.

* After the run-in with Heaven Ascension Dio, Jonathan begins to doubt his abilities and blames himself for Dio's survival in 1889, and his subsequent reign of terror 100 years later, culminating in this:

--> He didn't want to admit it, he wanted to be as brave as he possibly could, but seeing Dio with his body actually sent him into a spiral of mixed emotions.

--> Anger, sadness, fury, disgust, sickness, sorrow, wrath- So on and so on.

--> The more he thought about it, the more he felt bile rising in his throat and dropping back down to his stomach like a ton of bricks.

--> It felt so surreal, so unreal, to see his own body right there in front of him, being used for such atrocious things!

--> How many people had Dio slain? How many people had fallen for his manipulative tactics and devoted themselves to him, only to perish sooner or later? How many people had suffered because he wasn't strong enough-!

--> And God, all of those things he said to Gio!

--> Giorno hasn't told him what kind of relationship he had with his mother, but he knew for a fact Dio never once cared for the child, and from what the boy had told him, that Jonathan was more of a father to him than his actual parents ever were, well... it didn't take a genius to figure out he had a horrible childhood.

--> And he was worried, oh so worried. He knew what Dio was capable of, and if he got the chance, he would destroy anyone that got in his path. He deflected those attacks so easily, and if it weren't for the fact that he likes to take a moment to gloat about his superiority in the situation, Jonathan would've never managed to get the drop on him.

--> He's confident in his abilities, in the ways of Hamon, but what good was it in a world of Stands and powers he just didn't understand...?

--> He put his face in his hands, struggling against the wave of sorrow that threatened to spill over him. Once again, he started to blame himself for all this.

--> Jotaro had apologized, and Jonathan knew what he said was only out of anger, but a small part of him knew he was right.

--> If he had defeated Dio on that ship, that would've been the end of everything. Jotaro would've never been thrown into this mess, his friends would've been alright, so many innocent lives would've been spared, and-

--> He suddenly stopped, realizing something.

--> Giorno wouldn't exist.

--> ...Did he just unintentionally regret the birth of his own son?

--> He rubbed his hands up and down his face, "I am a horrible being..."

* Lisa Lisa finally being able to thank Jonathan for saving her life all those years ago:

--> "Thank you." She blurted out, her grip on the cup tightening slightly.

--> Jonathan looked taken aback. "I hope you do not mind me asking, but is there a reason you are thanking me?"

--> The Hamon mentor sighed and put her cup down. "Joseph told you, correct? About the accident on the ship?"

--> She felt Jonathan tense and almost regretted mentioning it. "Yes, he did."

--> "He also told you that you sacrificed yourself to save Erina and a stranger's infant." She put the cup back on the tray.

--> The Joestar nodded. "He did... but how do you know of Erina? Has Joseph spoken to you of her?"

--> "I know her, and I know about you, because..." Lisa Lisa took a deep breath, closed her fists and turned to face Jonathan with a deep determination alit in her eyes, "Because the child you saved in that ship, was me."

--> Jonathan's reaction was immediate. He choked out a gasp, his eyes widened and he jumped back in total shock. "R-Really?!"

--> Lisa Lisa nodded. "And there's more. But what I'm about to tell you, you cannot tell Joseph, not yet."

--> Jonathan nodded with brows furrowed. "I will not utter a word."

--> She had only seen this man a few hours ago, properly met him even less than that, and knew of him her entire life, and she already trusted him with one of her biggest secrets.

--> "Erina was pregnant with your son at the time of the incident. She couldn't take care of two children so a good friend of hers adopted me and taught me Hamon. In my later years, I met your son, George Joestar the second, and together we had Joseph." She looked at him directly in the eyes again, "I'm Joseph's mother."

--> "I... see." Jonathan mumbled dazedly, "I apologize for my lack of response, this has just... been a lot of information for me to take in."

--> "It's alright." Lisa Lisa crossed her arms, "I lost George and became entangled in a world I did not want Joseph to be a part of, so I had to leave him behind to prevent any harm coming to him. Joseph does not know, and I'm not prepared to tell him just yet."

--> Jonathan opened his mouth to speak, but he refrained from doing so when he sensed she had more to say.

--> Lisa Lisa continued, "The reason why I thanked you, was because of what you did for me on that ship, even if I wasn't aware of it when it happened, and what you tried to do for humanity. Had it not been for you, I would have perished in that ship along with my real parents. I truly owe my life to you and Erina. She always spoke of you very highly, and now I have zero doubts that her every word was true. I knew it was impossible, but I always wanted to be able to thank you somehow."

--> "Grandpa's father died. When he was twenty, the same age he's supposed to be now."

--> ...Shit.

--> "Fuck- I mean... I'm sorry, gramps." She placed her head on his arm, suddenly feeling sad herself, "It must've been hard."

--> The latter shook his head, "Ah, I'm sorry. I got a bit quiet there. And yes, it was... but father will always be with me in my heart, and though he was strict on me, I know he loved me very much."

--> A pang of jealousy coursed through her heart, just like it always did whenever she heard stories of dads loving their kids and being there for them.

--> She knew why Jotaro hadn't been there, but it still hurt.

--> Jolyne didn't know why, she barely knew Jonathan, but she already trusted him just like she trusted her friends. And so, head still laying on his bicep, with her eyes strained at the sky, she spoke the following words carefully. "My dad... was never really there for me when I was growing up."

--> She felt Jonathan tense, and she could practically feel worry starting to radiate from him. "What... do you mean, Jolyne?"

--> "He wasn't there." Her tone, unlike other times when she spoke of this to her mom, was soft, "He was always working, always on his business trips. One time I got really sick when I was a kid and he never showed up, it was that way until I got sent to prison."

--> Jonathan's eyebrows scrunched together, anger starting to tug inside his stomach at the thought of a young Jolyne, bed ridden, crying, sick, waiting for Jotaro, for her father, but he never showed up.

--> She continued, "I wanted to hate him, I really did, but deep down I just wanted his love, his approval. It wasn't until I got a Stand, and he was attacked by one, that I understood everything."

--> Interlocking her fingers, Jolyne sucked in a breath, "The reason he kept away from us wasn't because he didn't love me or my mother, it was because he was trying to keep us safe. It's true that Stand users attract Stand users, so dad did what he naturally thought was right, he stayed away from us to keep us out of danger. My mom doesn't have a Stand, I didn't have one until recently, how was he supposed to explain the situation to us?"

--> Jonathan nodded, anger subsiding, "I understand, it may not have been the best method but he only meant to ensure you and your mother's safety."

--> "Exactly!" She jumped suddenly, (totally not scaring Jonathan at all) with her shoulders hunched, "I get it, really, I do, it's not easy explaining that some people have a ghost thing that's basically their soul and that they can kill you with it, but c'mon, it was worth a shot!"

--> She let out a frustrated sigh, "What kind of dad calls his own kid a thief because they borrowed his car?"

--> The giant could only sigh as she ranted, he really didn't like what he was hearing. Why did it seem like all his descendants had family problems?

--> Giorno grew up basically abandoned, Joseph didn't have his mother or his father growing up, Josuke didn't have a father figure as a child, and now Jolyne grew up without her father too.

--> So far, it seemed like only Jotaro has an actual working family, but Jonathan wouldn't even be surprised at this point if it turned out someone in his family was also absent.

--> And heck, look at Jonathan, he grew up without his beloved mother, his half brother had made his life incredibly difficult, and now, he had lost father.

--> "I even joined a motherfucking gang and he didn't give two shits!"

--> Now that got Jonathan's attention, and not in the best way, since he almost choked on his spit. "C-Come again?"

--> Jolyne sighed, leaning back against the statue, "Look, gramps, I've done some bad things, okay? I don't need your judgement on it, I've already had plenty of that." She hadn't intended for the last part to sound harsh, but the coldness in her voice was evident.

--> The 'gramps' in question frowned deeply.

--> While it was true that he most certainly didn't like the idea of any of his family joining gangs, commiting crimes, or anything that tempted against the law, he knew Jolyne wasn't a bad kid, she was just a bit misguided and lacked fatherly love, and she only made bad choices, which everyone does.

--> "Jolyne," He called out carefully, and when Jolyne's green hues turned to him, he smiled gently, "I won't ever judge you, you must understand that. Telling me you joined a gang won't make me think less of you, even though it does worry me greatly." He mumbled the last part, before shaking his head and smiling again, "I can tell you have a good heart, and that you're a wonderful person, do not let past choices influence who you are today."

--> Jolyne stared at him, half in amazement, half in shock, and she couldn't help planting her head on his arm again, "Thanks, gramps... I really appreciate it, and don't worry, I'm not in the gang anymore." She said the first part so quietly Jonathan had trouble hearing her, but he did, so he grinned in return.

* Before that, we get this conversation:

--> Even before prison, her relationship with those close to her was strained, with the exclusion of Romeo and her mom, but even her mom had been on edge with her "delinquent" behavior. And nevermind Jotaro, who didn't even blink twice in her direction.

--> The rare, happy memories she ever had with him near her were when she went to Morioh, and it wasn't even cause Jotaro had wanted to take her with him, but because the times it happened, she had been staying with grandma Suzie and grandpa Joseph, and Joseph insisted on taking her with them. And that carried on for about four times before Jotaro refused to take her again, going as far as to threaten to leave Joseph behind too.

--> Apparently, she had spaced out again, because Jonathan's deep British accent cut through her reminiscing again, "-something wrong?"

--> Jolyne looked at him, grinning slightly, and curled shut the hand he had poked a few times, "Sorry, got lost in thought again. But thanks, for the gesture. I..." She cut herself off and sighed deeply, not wanting to unload all of her troubles on Jonathan, or for him to hear her ugly truths.

--> The Joestar seemed to sense her hesitation and frowned, "Jolyne, I know we just met earlier today, but you are my granddaughter, my family, you helped me immensely when I turned into a child, allow me to help you in return. You may tell me anything you wish, I promise not to judge you, I will only lend my ears." He reached up and pulled at his ears. "And believe me, they are large enough to listen to you for however long you like."

--> Jolyne snorted out a laugh, "For a guy from the Victorian era, you sure have a sense of humor." She then sighed again and gripped the material covering her thighs. "I just... I haven't even had time to really think about it, y'know? They just... died, both of them, right in front of me. And I couldn't do anything, I had to keep moving to fight the priest- Pucci, he's a priest for some fucking reason... and I couldn't do anything. I couldn't even cry!"

--> Before he could say anything, she bent over and dug her fingers into her hair, face buried in her palms. "They sacrificed everything for me, and I couldn't even keep them safe. If it hadn't been for me, F.F. and Weather would still be alive."

--> Jonathan thought about interrupting her, but he held back. If it was true that she hadn't had enough time to process what had happened, this might be her only chance to let it all out.

--> "Seeing Weather alive again, that gave me a little hope... I know we can get him back." She looked up, hands sliding down to cup her cheeks, and Jonathan could see silent tears riding down her skin, "But what about F.F.? She hasn't appeared, popped outta nowhere like Weather did, I just know she's dead. They both died because of me, because I wasn't strong enough. If this Holy Corpse shit hadn't happened, then I..."

--> Her shoulders started shaking, and Jonathan instinctively put an arm around her shoulder. He let her bury her face in his chest and wrap her arms loosely around his torso, all the while all he could do was pat her back gently.

--> "I know I didn't force them to go help me, I didn't force them to fight that son of a bitch, but I still feel responsible," Jolyne mumbled into his chest, "I know I'm supposed to be strong, I'm not supposed to break down, I'm supposed to be like my dad, but it's too much, I haven't been able to mourn or cope or do anything other than fight and bury my feelings and I just can't anymore. Ever since I was sent to that fucking prison, I haven't been able to talk to my mom, the only person who's been there for me, and it's killing me not being able to just fucking hug her and cry my eyes out..."

--> Jonathan swore he heard something along the lines of "You remind me of my mom..." before she hugged him tighter, and he frowned again.

--> "Your mother sounds wonderful, Jolyne." He said in an attempt to calm her.

--> He felt her nod, "She is, she's the one who gave me this hairstyle, she's the only one who calls me Jojo, and I miss her-" She couldn't keep talking, so she just hugged him tighter.

--> He felt sadness tug at his heartstrings.

--> She most definitely said prison, why on Earth would she be sent to a prison? Of course, in his time, a lady dressed with her clothing and that swore like a sailor could attract police attention, but Jonathan knew that in Jolyne's time, clothing and vocabulary weren't considered crimes. And he knew that there was no way she was a criminal or anything of the sort.

--> But overall, he understood her perfectly. He knew the feeling of those close to him dying, he knew the feeling of having to hold everything in for the sake of his duty, he knew what it felt like to watch someone you love sacrifice themselves for your safety.

--> And he knew the feeling of helplessness.

--> He patted her head softly, "It is alright, Jolyne. Just breathe, let it all out. I am here, everything is alright..."

to:

\n--> "Grandpa's father died. When he was twenty, the same age he's supposed to be now."\n\n--> ...Shit.\n\n--> "Fuck- I mean... I'm sorry, gramps." She placed her head on his arm, suddenly feeling sad herself, "It must've been hard."\n\n--> The latter shook his head, "Ah, I'm sorry. I got a bit quiet there. And yes, it was... but father will always be with me in my heart, and though he was strict on me, I know he loved me very much."\n\n--> A pang of jealousy coursed through her heart, just like it always did whenever she heard stories of dads loving their kids and being there for them.\n\n--> She knew why Jotaro hadn't been there, but it still hurt.\n\n--> Jolyne didn't know why, she barely knew Jonathan, but she already trusted him just like she trusted her friends. And so, head still laying on his bicep, with her eyes strained at the sky, she spoke the following words carefully. "My dad... was never really there for me when I was growing up."\n\n--> She felt Jonathan tense, and she could practically feel worry starting to radiate from him. "What... do you mean, Jolyne?"\n\n--> "He wasn't there." Her tone, unlike other times when she spoke of this to her mom, was soft, soft. "He was always working, always on his business trips. One time I got really sick when I was a kid and he never showed up, it was that way until I got sent to prison."

--> Jonathan's eyebrows scrunched together, anger starting to tug inside his stomach at the thought of a young Jolyne, bed ridden, bedridden, crying, sick, waiting for Jotaro, for her father, but he never showed up.

--> She continued, continued. "I wanted wanted to hate him, I really did, but deep down I just wanted his love, love, his approval. approval.

--> Jonathan grinned back and opened the door carefully, but he wasn't prepared for the wave of memories to flood into his mind when his eyes landed inside. He suddenly remembered how he would scurry inside as a child during particularly strong storms and rainy weather, how he would hide under the giant bed when playing hide and seek with the servants, how he would wake up extra early to drag his father out of sleep to celebrate holidays and special occasions, how-

--> "He was sick?" Giorno asked carefully.

--> "Dio poisoned him." Jonathan said, voice on edge as he walked forward, "He was meant to bring father his medicine, but it was not until much later I found out he was giving him poison..." His eyes were glued on the side of the bed where the elder Joestar had been a few days ago.

--> Well, as if Giorno needed any more reasons to hate the bastard, there it was.

--> What kind of asshole would do such a thing? Mr. Joestar had adopted Dio as his own son, cared for him, fed him, and he repaid the favor by killing him? Just thinking about the fact he was related to him made him want to shave off his hair and run for the hills.

--> "You mean what I said of you being my family, correct? I meant that very much, yes."

--> Another smile was directed at him, and it only made Gappy more confused, "But why? How can you say that so easily?" His voice began to raise despite his best efforts, "You don't know who I am, I don't know who you are, this star birthmark is practically the only thing tying us together! You can't just decide for someone to be your descendant!"

--> Jonathan almost flinched at the tone, but his heart clenched when he saw the tears forming in the corners of his eyes. He didn't understand why the young man was so distraught over what he said, but he immediately felt a wave of guilt wash over him, had he overstepped with his comment? Everyone so far had been very happy to be related to him, but he was stupid to think that would apply to every other person.

How does it not bother you welcoming a total stranger into your life?!"

If you want a family, I will be your family, Josuke!"

--> Fuck.

--> He really meant it, didn't he?

--> It wasn't a bluff, a joke, a mistake, a slip of the tongue, he was dead serious. Someone, that just happened to be a version of an ancestor of Kira's, wanted to make Gappy his family, and despite how odd this whole situation was, how he shouldn't have any reason to believe him, how bloodlines probably didn't work like that, Jonathan was willing to consider, no, he already did consider him as important as his other descendants, he was willing to accept him, willing to welcome him to a real family.

--> And honestly... Gappy was damn happy about it.

--> "Okay... be careful, gramps!" Josuke said as they slowly began to leave, with Gappy nodding at him one last time, before they went back inside.

--> Once they were gone, his shoulders dropped, his smile faded almost instantly and was replaced with a saddened frown as his feet started to move by themselves, guiding him in a direction he's taken a dozen times already.

--> He then smiled, "They are wonderful people, you would have loved them. There is even a dog in our group, his name is Iggy, I bet you would have played with him all day."

--> He inhaled, "I learned of this ability called a Stand, I fought dinosaurs, I even turned into a child. I have been learning so much about the future, it is all truly incredible."

--> Despite his best effort, a single tear slid down his cheek, and his voice cracked, "I hope we can meet again someday, Danny. take care of father for me..."

--> With a final pat to the mound, Jonathan stood, hands reaching up to clutch his satchel straps tightly. With one last look to the grave, he turned, walking away quickly as more tears fell.

--> Jonathan couldn't say anything, he couldn't form a coherent thought, couldn't force the words out of his throat, couldn't do anything except let tears spill out of his eyes as he collapsed in front of him, hand shooting out to grasp George's, an anchor between the two, giving him just a slight sliver of hope that this might be another anomaly, that his dead father really was in front of him.

--> "Jojo..." The elder Joestar frowned in concern and kneeled in front of Jonathan, never breaking the hold on his hand, "Why do you weep?"

--> "Father..." His grip tightened, his head dropped, unable to look into the eyes of the man he knew he failed, "I-I... I am so sorry..."

--> "Sorry?" The elder Joestar ran a hand through Jonathan's hair, "For what could you be sorry for, my son?"

--> A choked sob, and then, "I could not save you..."

--> "Oh, Jojo." George leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Jonathan as best as he could, "What occurred was not your fault, surely you know this. I chose to protect you, so you did not fail me in any way possible. Am I making myself clear?"
--> [...]
--> George turned around. "Ah, I was wondering where you had run off to."

--> Jonathan looked at him, confused, and George only grinned at him and nudged his head, signaling him to look the same way. Looking at the photo one last time, he set it down and turned, nearly falling over when he saw what stood before them.

--> Or, more precisely... who.

--> And that 'who' just threw a bark in his direction.

--> He knows the name fell from his lips, but he didn't really hear it over the sound of his footsteps running forward, and that sound became lost as well when he threw himself down and enveloped Danny in a nearly bone-crushing hug.

--> The great Dane just barked away happily as Jonathan began to, again, cry, for what felt like the millionth time, but he couldn't bring himself to care, not when it felt so real, like it wasn't all just all his imagination because he was currently stuck between life and death back in the real world.
** His response to being seperated from them as the dream ends:
--> "Please... father, Danny..." Jonathan started to drift away, he was even further away from them, a few feet outside the door to be exact. He struggled to stand, but he managed, and tried to run back into the room, but he only seemed to put more distance between them, "Don't go!"

--> George only smiled, kneeling next to Danny and patting his head, small droplets of tears collecting near the edges of his eyes, "Go on now, Jojo. I promise to take good care of Danny here, and do not let sorrow consume your heart, for one day..."

--> Everything started to break.

--> A gust of wind blew around him, the darkness started to crack, even more white light started to pour in around him, he kept being dragged backwards no matter how fast he ran, but all Jonathan could do was focus on his father, on his equally purple hair, on his pristine suit, the gentle smile on his face, Danny wagging his tail happily at him, his tongue sticking out, looking at him calmly-

--> "...we will meet again."

--> And George closed his eyes, giving him a gentle grin, one that looked awfully similar to the same expression he bore in Jonathan's arms, and Jonathan practically screamed when the scene before him, the room, father, Danny-

--> It all got smaller and smaller, and the wind rushing through his ears got louder and louder, he couldn't even hear himself screaming for them, but he could feel his throat going raw, could feel the veins popping around his neck, could feel his heart pounding.

--> "Jotaro! Snap out of it!" Jonathan began to dodge both the combination of Jotaro's fists and Star Platinum's attacks, "Do not give in to Dio's tricks, you're stronger than he is!"

--> What was he supposed to say, exactly? How strong and intellectual Jotaro was? How much he meant to him and his other descendants? That he was very much needed by everyone? Jotaro didn't exactly respond to praise or affection very well, if he did at all, what would get through to him?

--> They really should have thought this through more carefully, but Jonathan shook his head and started saying the first things that came to his mind, while simultaneously avoiding Jotaro's attacks, "Jotaro, wake up! You're much stronger than Dio is, than he ever will be, don't let him invade your mind like this!"

--> Star Platinum's fist grazed his cheek, drawing a nick of blood, but he ignored the slight sting, "You have to return to normal, for Joseph, for Holly, for Jolyne! For all of them, we have to save them!"

--> Jotaro's punch aimed at his stomach, but he swiftly caught it, his muscle bulging at how tight his grip on Jotaro's fist was, "Your friends need you, your family needs you, our bloodline needs us, they need us to put an end to Dio's reign!"

--> Jotaro's other fist went straight towards his head, and Jonathan caught it just in time, teeth grit at his impressive strength. Jotaro's glazed over eyes were staring at him, the once bright green now a near black hue, almost soulless.

--> Jonathan wracked his brain, trying to figure out what else he should say, when he remembered what they had done to bring him back before.

--> Mustering up even more strength, Jonathan, with his grip on the Stand user's hands, pulled him forwards, making him crash against his chest. Immediately, he wrapped his arms around his back in an almost bone crushing grip, if the sound of Jotaro's back popping was anything to go by.

--> "I'm incredibly proud of you, Jotaro!" He began in a booming voice, trying his best to keep Jotaro's arms pinned under his, "Somehow I know you haven't heard this much, or have believed it, but it couldn't be anything else than true! I am so happy and honored to be your ancestor, I feel truly blessed to have you and the others as my family!"

--> Jonathan felt a strong grip on his shoulders, and realizing it was Star Platinum, spoke even louder. "Despite the language, I think you are a wonderful young man with incredible wits and strength, who would protect those he cares about at any costs, I'm proud to say I am related to you, you are my descendant and nothing will ever change the fact that you are my family!"
* After Dio is defeated, everyone is sent back to their original time. But in an aversion of RippleEffectProofMemory, Jonathan doesn't remember anything that had happened over the course of the story. However, once he gets a look at the photos that were taken over the course of the adventure, he breaks down.
--> It all came back to him in a sudden flash that made Jonathan's skull pound harshly.

--> He encountered the Holy Corpse, the mansion returned to its' normal state, he fought countless zombies, Jotaro appeared, he went with him, he met Joseph and older Joseph and Josuke and Johnny and Jolyne and Gappy and the slow process of finding out the truth of his future and their lives and how they were all related, the anomalies, Dio from another world, it all swirled into a confusing haze in his mind and made him fall to his knees.

--> Joseph pulled back abruptly, making Jonathan flinch slightly in surprise. His emerald eyes were just a bit red and his cheeks were tear stained. "You didn't upset me! I just got emotional is all, sorry for jumping on you like that..." He muttered, now embarrassed by his outburst. He quickly rubbed his eyes and cheeks. "I'm just... so glad you're here, grandpa!"
