** For ''Strictly'' itself, there were no themed weeks for the first few series, and the use of props was not allowed until 2010. Also, when the show first started, it was planned to have two series per year (one starting in Spring and one starting in Autumn), but this was dropped after the first year and the show would go on to only have one series per year starting in Autumn.

* FunnyBackgroundEvent: One dance in the 2015 season saw a bucket of confetti being thrown over the judges. Shortly after this, Darcey could be seen trying to pick bits of confetti out from her cleavage. Likewise when she was giving her opinion, Craig was picking the confetti out of her hair.

* FunnyBackgroundEvent: These can be found all over the place, usually when the judges are giving their scores and the people behind the couple that just danced can be seen reacting to it, especially if it's a really high or really low score.

* JokeCharacter: There will inevitably be a few celebrities each series who actively can't dance. At least one of them will probably turn into a LethalJokeCharacter if they get the public vote on side, surviving over several better dancers before going out once there's nobody left they can credibly stay in ahead of.

Some of them might also turn out to be better at dancing than anticipated.

Added DiffLines:

* TheBenchwarmer: Since there are often more professional dancers than celebrity contestants, that means not all the pros will get a partner each series. Out of the current lineup, Neil Jones and Luba Mushtuk have been benched the most, while the other pros either always get a partner, didn't get a partner in their first series but then did every series since then, or occasionally had to spend a series without a partner. Chloe Hewitt and Cameron Lombard were only on the show for two years each and were never partnered.

Added DiffLines:

* NoDamageRun: There are often contestants who make it to the final without ever being in the dance off; this is usually a sure sign that they'll be the winner, unless another finalist has also never been in the dance off, or manages to surpass them in the public vote. For example, in 2023, Ellie Leach was the only finalist who had never been in the dance off, while Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier had been there once and twice respectively. Guess who won.
