* BondVillainStupidity: After beating Link down in their first fight, Ganondorf leaves on horseback, not bothering to finish him off. He all but kicks himself when Link appears seven years later as the Hero of Time.

But while Mido had a microscopic heart of gold that allowed him some care for his peers and a potential to improve himself, Ganondorf is power-hungry to the very end.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Ganondorf is a near-PerpetualSmiler who puts on a show of deferentiality towards Princess Zelda when he first appears, but the young princess sees right through it.
* ForTheEvulz: Even beyond his lust for power, Ganondorf never gets tired of finding ways of getting under peoples' skin and hurting them on a physical, emotional, and mental level. This is probably best shown by him intentionally turning Link's old pet dragon into a rampaging monster and forcing the hero to put him down.
* NotWorthKilling: After blasting Link with his magic and taking what he assumes is the Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf leaves without sparing the boy a second glance. Kotake and Koume point out that he could have avoided all his troubles with the future Hero of Time by killing Link when he had the chance.
* ThePowerOfHate: After finally facing defeat at Link's hands, Ganondorf channels his hatred through the Triforce of Power to become the demon Ganon.
* SuperStrength: Even without the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf is strong enough to crack open a stone floor with his fist.
* UnknownRival: At first. Ganondorf barely acknowledges Link outside of the DeathGlare he shoots him inside of Hyrule Castle for not showing fear of him. This changes after he finds out that the "Ocarina of Time" he stole was actually the Fairy Ocarina, and the boy he beat down [[NotWorthKilling and dismissively abandoned]] is none other than the Hero of Time.
* TheUsurper: By his own admission, he explicitly killed the King of Hyrule to take his throne.
* WorthyOpponent: Subverted. He acknowledges that Link has "guts" to take him on in their initial CurbStompBattle and notes that he's improved when they meet again. When he actually loses against Link, he's so enraged that a "boy" bested him that he transforms into Ganon.
* WouldHurtAChild: During his encounter with Link outside Hyrule Castle, he whacks him across the face with the pommel of his sword and sends him flying with a magic blast.

* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In the game, they only appear in the Gerudo Desert quest. The manga changes this by having them appear as early as Link awakening as the Hero of Time, showing up repeatedly to further Ganondorf's plans.

They are shown using [[HypnoTrinket magic jewels]] to conduct brainwashing instead of directly using magic as they implied in the game, and demonstrate the ability to summon monsters from sand.
* CoDragons: As Ganondorf's surrogate mothers, court hypnotists, and go-to sorceresses, they carry out his commands unfailingly.
* CruelMercy: They talk Ganondorf of having Ingo's head cut off for costing him Epona...but only so they can brainwash him into holding Malon hostage and trying to kill Link.
* DirtyCoward: Kotake and Koume only ever attack when they believe their targets can't fight back, even turning invisible and literally hiding behind Sheik when Link breaks out of the Gerudo Fortress.
* EnemySummoner: They create a swarm of monsters from the desert sand in a bid to stop Link from getting to the Spirit Temple.
* HonestAdvisor: For all their evil, they are committed counselors to Ganondorf. They openly criticize him for letting Link escape with his life in the past, and later talk him out of executing Ingo when they have an opportunity to use him as a brainwashed pawn against Link.
* HypnoTrinket: Their ability to brainwash people is elaborated as the use of small magic jewels they use to force people to do their bidding, as shown with the gem they put in Ingo's ear and the crest they put on Nabooru's head.
* MoralMyopia: When Sheik [[spoiler:attacks them and reveals that he is in fact TheMole, they are outraged at the actions of the "traitor" even though they endorsed Ganondorf's usurpation of Hyrule's royal family]].
* ProperlyParanoid: They suspect, [[spoiler:correctly]], that Sheik is not really on Ganondorf's side, and so send Nabooru to supervise him later on in a addition to spying on him themselves.

* ClippedWingAngel: After Link initially cuts him in half, Dark Link reforms itself with a shadow horse to ride on. But if anything, Dark Link actually becomes easier to beat this time; even though Link has little experience riding Epona into battle, he still manages to outmaneuver and take him down.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Dark Link confidently counters every single move Link makes, but gets caught off guard when Link copies a technique of Imp's that he had never done himself, a backflip that lets him hit Dark Link from behind.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: While Bongo Bongo has a cursory history as a demon sealed in Kakariko Well, Dark Link pops out of said well out of nowhere to attack Link.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Link's first successful strike on Dark Link cleaves the monster in two at the waist, although he manages to regenerate as a kind of centaur. He does not survive his second bisection.
* HealingFactor: As a being made of shadow, Dark Link can regenerate wounds given to him. However, Link eventually overtaxes his HealingFactor with the Master Sword.
* LivingShadow: While initially appearing as a blob of shadow similar to Bongo Bongo's first form, the monster reforms itself as a shadowy clone of Link.
* MirrorMatch: As in the game, Dark Link matches each of Link's blows, forcing the hero to act creatively to land a strike on him.
* NoNameGiven: He's a composite of Dark Link and Bongo Bongo, but is never actually referred to as either of them in the script.
