* AmbiguousSituation: It's not entirely career who [[spoiler:the Jury]] actually are. [[spoiler:They assume the identity of Foundation researchers]] but it's not entirely clear if they're [[spoiler:Demons, or even [[AngelsUnaware Angels taking the guise of said researchers]]]] or if [[spoiler:they're really the other research staff who perished during the 682 breach]]. Either explanation would make sense.
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler: The Jury are denizens of {{Hell}} who preside over the trials of sinners, which at least in Kristiansen's case, involves a TimeLoopTrap where the subject has no memories of the previous trials or their deaths, reliving a facsimile of the events that lead to their being sent to hell. However, they don't seem to be acting out of malice. The true purpose of the trials is NOT torture but rather to see if the condemned can behave differently this time around, and implicitly be freed from hell if they do. Silva actually seems to WANT this for Kristiansen and is genuinely disappointed when he fails to [[NeverMyFault accept responsibility for the breach]].]]
* DeadAllAlong: [[spoiler:Kristiansen didn't actually survive the 682 containment breach.]]
* DirtyCoward: [[spoiler: Kristiansen pushes Silva toward 5683 to cover his own escape. He may have also done so in the original 682 breach]].
* DraggedOffToHell: [[spoiler:Kristiansen is pulled back into Hell by a dark iron chain around his neck after failing the trial once more.]]
* EvilLaugh: The logs mention laughter in the background several times. [[spoiler:It's not clear ''who'' exactly it's coming from, but presumably it's from the denizens of {{Hell}} watching Kristiansen's trial.]]
* EvilSmellsBad: Kristiansen complains of a burning smell twice during the testing logs. [[spoiler: It's because the whole scenario takes place in Hell]].

* {{Hypocrite}}: Kristiansen ignores preliminary testing on tissue samples for the final test out of impatience, claiming he'll accept full responsibility if something goes wrong. However, when something does, he pins the blame on Silva instead ([[HypocriteHasAPoint who was also at fault]]) and after constantly calling him out for it, tells him to shut up about whose fault it is when he suggests he take ''some'' personal responsibility.
* IgnoredEpiphany: Even after [[spoiler: being explicitly told he's being condemned for refusing to take responsibility]], Kristiansen ''still'' won't admit his fault in [[spoiler:the 683 containment breach]].
* InvincibleVillain: Even when one test actually manages to destroy 5683, it reappears after a quick blackout in its chamber. Kristiansen even calls it "magic bullshit". Given [[spoiler: he's reliving the events that led up to the 682 containment breach he died in, it's possible the same thing happened to it]].

* JerkassHasAPoint: Kristiansen is absolutely correct that Silva's lack of interference in the tests ultimately led to 5683 escaping containment, as Silva himself admits. The main issue is that [[{{Hypocrite}} Kristiansen himself]] ordered the final termination attempt without preliminary tests [[TooDumbToLive in a clear breach of safety protocol,]] [[NeverMyFault which he refuses to take responsibility for]].
* NeverMyFault: [[{{Hypocrite}} Despite promising otherwise]], Kristiansen refuses to accept his part in the 5683 containment breach when it inevitably happens. [[spoiler: He did the same thing when 682 escaped, which is the reason he's in {{Hell}}. He could leave if he actually accepted responsibility, but he has yet to do so despite the trial repeating 22,122,593 times. He tries to say it's his fault when he learns he's been condemned to {{Hell}} again, but the Jurors point out he has to ''mean'' it. Sure enough, when he's DraggedOffToHell, he shouts once again that he didn't do anything wrong.]]

* SpidersAreScary: It's a very large spider-like organism that is hostile to all organic life. [[spoiler:It's not actually real, and is merely a construct of Doctor Kristiansen's IronicHell.]]
