It's heavily implied that Otis can see right through Olympia's lies, but the end of the episode reveals that he isn't aware of what she's actually doing, and is actually covering up his ''own'' odd problem that he's dealing with.

* CannotKeepASecret: Subverted for Otis, as he ends up cracking at the climax of the episode and tells Olympia the truth about how he's been fighting off a laser chicken every time she got up from the table.

In stark contrast to [[BadLiar Olympia,]] Otis is good at hiding the truth, and doesn't play any of the tropes Olympia does when lying straight (SuspiciouslySpecificDenial, ImplausibleDeniability, etc.). However, he still shows some physical signs that are easy tells, such as sweating despite the room being cold, and dirt covering his face and shirt, and by the climax of the episode, he shifts into being a BadLiar and eventually admits the truth.

* ImmediateSelfContradiction: Subverted. Olympia hands all of the gadgets she has on her to Sabatino, who takes them to the coat closet for her. Immediately after he leaves, Olympia gets up to go wash her hands, only for Otis to point out that she's going the wrong way to the restroom...unless she's going to check up on her gadgets. She begins ActingUnnatural and asks him why she would do that, then there's a transition to her leaving the restroom.

* Both Otis and Olympia do this to themselves. Otis is unaware that there have been odd problems occurring in the kitchen that Olympia is trying to fix, while Olympia is unaware that there's an angry laser chicken outside that Otis is attempting to beat. Eventually, the odd problem Olympia had been trying to fix grows large enough to invade the entirety of the restaurant, and she and Otis battle it together.
* MarriedToTheJob: Deconstructed. The entire plot of the episode revolves around [[{{Workaholic}} Olympia]] attempting to prove to her partner that she can eat lunch and relax, and not be obsessed with work. When the pair go to the Confalones' restaurant for lunch, however, Olympia ends up tangled in the middle of an odd problem the two brothers are having (spaghetti is flailing wildly in the kitchen), and she is forced to move back and forth between solving the odd problem and having a meal with Otis, with her attempting to lie to Otis about what she's doing every time she has to leave.

Much like her, he had been stepping away from lunch to battle a laser chicken, and while he admits that he could have called for backup, [[RuleOfCool he didn't because he thought the prospect of battling a giant chicken that shoots lasers was cool, and he wished to handle it on his own.]] Eventually, he and Olympia forgo lunch and team up to battle the spaghetti monster that has now spread into the dining area of the restaurant.
* MediumAwareness: Olympia sings along to the fast-paced background music as she works (albeit she is a bit off-sync).

* MotorMouth: Olympia is naturally one, but this episode turns it into a flaw for her as she racks up lie after lie and Otis grows suspicious.

* OnlyOneFindsItFun: Olympia attempts to invoke this as part of her BlatantLies, remarking how she's excited to not be working and how eating soup is fun.

* TheScapegoat: Olympia has Gino and Sabatino solve the issue of their kitchen being upside down by telling them to get the Un-Upside-Down-inator and use it. She does this so that it will look like the odd problem is solved without her actually "working" (AirQuotes intended) due to the fact that she didn't touch a gadget. Of course, this has ''disastrous'' consequences, and the problem continues to grow worse. In addition, she also asks the brothers to describe the feelings they have as they zap the kitchen with the gadget, wanting them to leave no details out (put simply, experiencing the feeling of solving an odd problem without actually solving the problem yourself).
* ShoutOut: The odd problem that Olympia and Otis fight at the end of the episode is pretty much a UsefulNotes/FlyingSpaghettiMonster, but without the {{Flight}} and without the meatballs.

* TakeAThirdOption: The Confalone brothers find two gadgets that are exactly 10 inches, the length of the Un-Upside-Down-inator. Instead of using one or the other (or even asking Olympia herself which one it is), they end up using both, which creates even more disaster in their restaurant's kitchen in the form of meatballs flying everywhere. When they attempt to find the Un-Meatball-inator and find not only that gadget, but another gadget that measures 10 inches vertically, they also end up using them both, which creates an even ''bigger'' disaster.

** Olympia absolutely ''cannot'' stop working. Even when she claims that she can stop whenever she wants, ceasing her typing and moving the keyboard on her desk away from her, [[HandyFeet her toes act as a separate set of fingers that type on another keyboard she keeps at her feet.]] [[AvertedTrope However, she doesn't want to admit]] [[AtLeastIAdmitIt that she is unable to stop working to Otis, and instead offers for the two of them to go to lunch at the Confalones' restaurant with no work involved.]] Naturally, it ends up being a disaster, and Olympia's mind is on work for the entirety of it, which culminates when she is dragged into solving an odd problem the brothers have with an upside-down kitchen, and later, wildly flailing spaghetti.
** Otis is very loyal to Odd Squad and has his mind on work often, but the trope is downplayed for him -- he is able to focus on other things instead of having a one-track mind on work like his partner. Nonetheless, this episode reveals that, like Olympia, he has been busy with work during their lunch break, fighting off a laser chicken. He admits that he could have called for backup but didn't, [[RuleOfCool because fighting off a laser chicken looked cool enough to do on his own.]]

* TheSmartGuy: Odd Todd has gone from an EvilGenius to this, as he manages to crack the two codes Olympia and Otis show him within seconds.

However, Todd did have a co-worker named Otis [[OneSteveLimit who was a dog,]] as shown in [[Recap/OddSquadS1E24TrainingDay "Training Day"]], meaning that him recognizing Otis may as nothing more than a ContinuityNod. Similarly, it may also serve as a Call-Forward to the events of ''[[MadeForTVMovie World Turned Odd,]]'' where he became the head of Precinct 13579 in an AlternateTimeline (in the past) and had Otis and Olympia work under him. [[invoked]] WordOfGod hasn't confirmed anything regarding this.

* AxCrazy: However redeemed Todd may be, he still has moments of psychosis that manifests in numerous different ways, particularly [[{{Irony}} when he's trying to keep himself sane, and not return to being a villain.]] It's a rather large step from his villain days, where he wasn't as psychotic, but had his moments from time to time.

* BigDamnHeroes: Olympia, Otis and Todd manage to catch up to Jamie just before she attacks. Olympia manages to stop the attack by using the Toast-inator, firing a piece of toast so the jam will hit it instead of the house.
* CallBack: Olympia recalls how [[Recap/OddSquadS1E24TrainingDay Todd turned evil and tried to destroy Odd Squad.]] Todd also remarks that he recognizes Otis from somewhere at the end of the episode, which is a nod to when he called on Otis the ''dog'' in order to stop the Shapeshifter, shortly after he became an agent (although it serves as an effective {{Foreshadowing}}/RedHerring combo).

Eventually, [[TheManInTheMirrorTalksBack Olympia relies on her own reflection (which is really her talking to herself) to get the client's reflection moving.]] Once she and Otis leave, another mirror shows the client's reflection being rebellious, with ''another'' reflection commenting "Yikes!" in an ''Film/Inception''-style manner.
