* ButtMonkey: Ritsu ends up attracting the attention of the Body Improvement Club who insist that he join them for an unprecedented sleepover where they'll all endure intense training. He's unable to reject their offer and Reigen, whom he coldly refused to stay at his place, wishes him and his new friends the best with their upcoming training.

* EarlyBirdCameo: Takenaka Momozo makes a silent cameo among the crowd spectating the giant broccoli.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Teruki turns down Reigen's offer of staying at his place for the night. He regrets it when he returns to his crater of an apartment.

* HeroicSecondWind: Mob almost gives up as Suzuki reaches 100%. But the memories of his master, friends and loved ones encourages him to keep on fighting to protect them.

* MeaningfulEcho: Suzuki remembers Mob's words to him--and his hand, extended in friendship--as he extends his own past his shackles.

* MeaningfulEcho: MeaningfulEcho:
** Using his master's wisdom from Season 1, Mob confirms to Suzuki that "he's the protagonist of his own life".
**
Suzuki remembers Mob's words to him--and his hand, extended in friendship--as he extends his own past his shackles.

Added DiffLines:

* MoodWhiplash: The battle of good versus evil has ended and the heroes head home to get some much needed rest. But as Reigen and Ritsu stop by the school, they're confronted by the boisterous Body Improvement Club where Musashi proposes a surprise training session.
* NotSoAboveItAll: During 100% Kindness, Suzuki reveals that he actually loved his wife and was upset that he drove her away when he began his conqueror's path. This demonstrates that he too longed for human connections despite boasting that he didn't have to rely on anyone.

Added DiffLines:

* VillainousBreakdown: After Mob loses the will to fight after experiencing Shame and Compassion, Suzuki turns incredibly violent and orders him to keep fighting while using his energy attacks to lash out at him. It gets worse when he achieves 100% and becomes a flaming, uncontrollable monster.

He's absolutely enjoying this. At least until Suzuki slaps him back down to earth and he catches a glimpse of his brother, looking on in uneasy awe. Remembering Ritsu's justified fear of him fills him with shame. The energy demon jacks up his power output, continuing to mock him. Mob isn't done trying to reach this man, and wants to know what made him this way. In his compassion and sorrow, he attempts to relieve this city's suffering by crushing him in a massive ball of fallen buildings; it only stokes the man's fury.

The next day, the citizens marvel at the giant plant--a massive head of broccoli--growing in the heart of Seasoning City. Suzuki, alive and contrite, turns himself in to the government after apologizing to his son and Serizawa. Reigen was able to collect on his insurance after all. Mob puts two and two together; so that's what happened to the seeds in his gakuran's breast pocket. And it looks like he has a new kouhai (subordinate coworker) to train...

Concerned voices and a sharp beam of light pierce the darkness. The child is awake and embedded in something soft. Ritsu, Mob, Teru and Reigen dig Mob out. All their physical injuries are healed; but Mob collapses shortly after, apparently in mental exhaustion. Teru floats him down out of this place before heading home, while Reigen and Ritsu, carrying Mob, sneak into Salt Middle School for some spare clothes.

Musashi catches them contemplating tracksuits in the Body Improvement Club room and gives them a scare. They fill him in on the situation. He summons the rest of the club and offers his grandma's home as lodgings while Shou's lackeys rebuild the Kageyamas' house. The catch? They'll have to harvest their own food and cook their own meals from the Gouda family farm -- and it's a 90 minute jog away. Reigen wishes them luck.

* SuperpowerMeltdown: Suzuki. As he overclocks his psychic powers, energy intermittently spills from his eyes and mouth. His 100% power output, however, is too unstable for his body to contain, and it warps him into the human equivalent of a red giant going supernova. His skin turns the color of ash; his muscles bloat, swell and split; his head and limbs catch fire; and he begins to glow like an ember, smacking his head and roaring in superheated agony.

Added DiffLines:

Mob flicks Suzuki through several concrete walls; Suzuki literally claps back, surrounding Mob in a ball of debris. The child easily pushes it apart. A strange light dances in his eyes as the man sends a flood of energy beams and hunks of rubble after him like heat-seeking missiles; one of the beams collides with him as he soaks it up, ecstatic.

At this point Mob loses all interest in dealing with his bullshit. Mistaking the teenager's resignation for inability to continue, Suzuki erupts in an extinction burst of sadistic joy, slapping him round to coerce more fight out of him. Yet another smackdown to earth is swiftly met with Mob's attempt at giving the man a cruel twist ending.

Suzuki's resulting agony taps the limits of his power output. Man... shifts into missile... morphs into demon... and quickly threatens to go supernova. Even Mob's courage isn't enough to extinguish these flames. The teenager warns Reigen, Teru, and the others to run... then returns to sit with the man. Out of kindness, he holds emotional space for Shou's father, containing the explosion of overflowing psychic energy as best as he can, and painfully absorbs it into his own body.

Concerned voices and a sharp beam of light pierce the darkness. The child is awake and embedded in something soft. Ritsu, Mob, Teru and Reigen dig Mob out. All their physical injuries are healed; but Mob collapses shortly after, apparently in mental exhaustion. !!Tropes appearing in this episode include:
* BeamSpam: The torrent of energy and rubble Suzuki sends after Mob in the beginning of the episode that sets off his ecstasy. Mob's sheer joy at being able to fully let loose against an equal in psychic power is palpable; he actually laughs for the first time in the series. It's a pretty unsettling laugh.
*BerserkerTears: Mob weeps at having to hurt Suzuki, who has no such qualms about ending him.
*BodyHorror: Mob gives up on his own terms for fighting Claw's power-drunken leader and wields his resignation as literal EmotionalTorque, contorting the man's body to an absolutely gruesome degree.
** Suzuki's power overload is also more than disturbing enough to count.
*ChekhovsGun / ChekhovsSkill: Mob's payment in broccoli seeds and the chlorokinesis he learns from the Wiggly Figure in this season's first episode. He accidentally redirects some of Suzuki's overflow into the seeds, still in the breast pocket of his gakuran. The rest gets channeled into physically healing everyone's injuries and restoring most of the massive property damage caused by Claw.
*CruelAndUnusualDeath: Averted; Mob's attempted Pun twist ending of Suzuki triggers his SuperpowerMeltdown instead. It's easy to forget that this gentle, kind, soft-spoken teenager is capable of the full spectrum of human emotion...including cruelty and murderous intent.
*DeathEqualsRedemption: Subverted. Suzuki asks Mob to MercyKill him to halt the explosion; Mob refuses. There are people in his life who still need him, as the child reminds him, and he can redeem himself by paying for his crimes and being present for them.
*HeelFaceTurn: Serizawa, who comes to work at Spirits and Such after Claw's downfall. Mob gets to show him the ropes.
*HeroicSacrifice: Subverted. Mob refuses to end Suzuki pères life per his request, and sits there with him, holding space for Suzuki while painfully absorbing the man's excess energy into his own body. While he doesn't die, he is willing to put his life on the line to ensure the man doesn't suffer alone.
*ImportantHaircut: At the end of the episode, Reigen shaves Serizawa's messy curly hair short and cleans up his stubble before his next client arrives.
*MeaningfulEcho: Suzuki remembers Mob's words to him -- and his hand, extended in friendship -- as he extends his own past his shackles.
--> Suzuki: 'People need other people', huh?
*MoodSwinger: Justified. Mob cycles through a number of different emotional states at full intensity in his battle with Suzuki, including shame, compassion, sorrow and resignation; none of them arise without good reason.
--> Suzuki: (punching him out of a shame spiral) You're so emotionally unstable. At this rate, you'll never catch up to me, no matter how far you go.

(later in the episode)\\
Suzuki: It appears that we're both influencing each other quite a bit... \\
Mob: Mmm. But I couldn't be a good influence.
*PowerStrainBlackout: Mob's redirecting Suzuki's energy through himself cost him enough mental energy to collapse upon walking out of the Divine Broccoli.
*SuperpowerMeltdown: Suzuki. As he overclocks his psychic powers, energy intermittently spills from his eyes and mouth. His 100% power output, however, is too unstable for his body to contain, and it warps him into the human equivalent of a red giant going supernova.
