* BrokenAesop: While the aesop of "Click" is not to abuse power for one's own ends, the company that devised the universal remote is clearly setting up Seth to fail. First, giving so much power to a teen is just [[KidWithTheLeash begging for it to be misused]]. They also warn him not to try to repair the remote by himself when he makes the perfectly valid point that he did try to go through the proper channels: they don't answer any phone calls and the address of the "showroom" they gave him was just [[TheLittleShopThatWasntThereYesterday some abandoned building]]. They also appear to be aware what Seth is doing at all times, so they could have intervened at any point.

* AndIMustScream: When Kevin tries to take the remote from Seth by force, Seth tries to use the Power button on him in frustration. The world disappears and Seth is left trapped in a featureless void with no way out.

* UniversalRemoteControl: The whole premise is that Seth is given the Veronica XG-20 Universal Remote Control, which gives him the powers of a RealityWarper. While he initially only uses it for mild pranks, he gradually becomes DrunkWithPower when he realizes the full potential of the device.

* OhCrap: Seth freezes his family when they annoy him. Unfortunately, the remote stops working right at that moment and Seth realizes the implications of what he did.

However, they seem to know what Seth is doing at any point and repeatedly warn him not to abuse the remote.

* CanonForeigner: Product spokesman and Tony Valter and Seth's friend Kevin, neither of whom were in the short story.
