* PoorCommunicationKills: Almost in this case. If he had just explained his intentions and who he was to Goliath, Goliath ''may'' have just given the Eye to him. Odin even admits at the end of his starring episode that he is out of practice dealing with mortals.

* BatmanGambit: Angela snaps Goliath out of it by staying in the collapsing fissure and "pleading" for the help of her father. Elisa admits that was a risky move she wishes she thought of.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Odin and Goliath both admit in the end that they could have avoided all this drama if they handled things better.

* {{Catchphrase}}: Odin's seems to be "''We Shall See''" which is appropriate for a norse god with ''one eye'' and great wisdom, many of his plans and attacks are not straight-forward, prompting his opponents to underestimate him, leading to his catchphrase.

* LetsGetDangerous: Once the Eye-enhanced Goliath has gotten his charges to safety (by imprisoning them), he challenges Odin to come out and stop fighting. He appears in a bolt of lightning, wearing full battle armor (before and after the fight, it was a simple cloak) and ready to throw down.
--> '''Odin''': "Very well, gargoyle!"

* MorphicResonance: A plot point, as the polar bear who attacks them to gain the Eye of Odin equally is missing one of his own, just like the old man who tried to barter with them earlier in the episode. Goliath quickly puts together they are one and the same because of this, and reasons they are capable of sorcery.

Goliath and the others arrive in Scandinavia where Elisa and Angela's lives are put into peril by Odin who seeks to claim his eye. Goliath dons the talisman in order to prevent it, but becomes more of a danger to his friends than his enemies by its sheer power.

Odin returns in "[[Recap/GargoylesS2TheGathering The Gathering Part 1]]".

This Episode contains the following Tropes:

* ManipulativeBastard: A rare case when Goliath becomes this. Goliath orders Angela, Elisa, Bronx, and the Sturlusons to relocate due to a blizzard being done by Odin. However, Angela learns that Goliath is the one making the storm and doing so in order to have them locked away so that they are not around to be endangered during his duel with Odin. Everyone else was not pleased with Goliath's deception and imprisonment.
* MythologyGag: In this case in reference to the series' toyline. Kenner's Gargoyles line gained a notoriety among fans of the series for doing too many "alternate" takes on the gargoyles in a super-powered mode and not enough characters from the television series. The creators were willing to indulge in this by having Goliath take on a super enhanced state via the Eye of Odin. Ironically this one time that the series offered them an actual enhanced version of one of the main gargoyles for inspiration, the makers of the toyline rejected it!
* OffModel: Shortly after it becomes night and Angela and Bronx are awakened, however a few seconds later when Angela and Elisa speak to each other [[LazyArtist it has the orangey tint of the setting sun in the background.
