* ArbitrarySkepticism: Dawitsu doesn't believe in Rangoli patterns giving good luck, yet he clearly ''practices various forms of magic.''
* ArsonMurderAndJayWalking: Reimu describes Marisa as a 'thief, liar, braggart, and magician.'.
* TheAtoner: Dawitsu, of course. It's the whole theme of the book, after all...
* AttentionWhore: Hatate doesn't care ''who'' reads her newspaper -- she'll deliver to anyone ([[spoiler:and given Alice's deal with her, that means potentially attracting dangerous people to date the puppeteer]]) as long as someone's reading it. Even [[CreepyChild Medicine]] [[PoisonousPerson Melancholy]].

* BatmanGambit: A brief one from Yutaka and Ran. Yutaka gets Alice to admit [[spoiler:to knocking Dawitsu out]] by saying that [[spoiler:Dawitsu could easily best any resident of the Forest of Magic in battle]]. Naturally, pride gets the better of Alice, and she blurts out [[spoiler:that she didn't even need to fire a bullet to knock him out.]]
* BeamMeUpScotty: Sex Drive quotes Lord Nelson's "last words" by declaring "Kiss me, Hardy!" before Dawitsu {{lampshade|Hanging}}s the fact that those weren't actually his last words.
* BearHug: Suika, according to the narration, hugs Reimu the same way a ''vice'' does... [[spoiler:Flandre hugs the same way.]]
* BeautifulDreamer: In a [[SubvertedTrope subversion]], the reader sees Dawitsu's dreams, and as the narrative switches to Dawitsu waking up, he's found out [[spoiler:Flandre]] has been watching him sleep, making it the same trope, but from the other perspective.
* BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy: According to Yukari, the Jianwen Emperor of China and Michael Jackson were both Youkai who were well integrated into human society the same way Dawitsu was.

* {{Bishounen}}: Rinnosuke
* BlatantLies: [[spoiler:Dawitsu has a fair few, some of which are only believed because the target is too naive to put two and two together.]] Also, anything [[spoiler:said by Ninja!Reimu...]]
* BloodFromTheMouth: [[spoiler:Dawitsu gets seriously injured, and even in his subconscious he has blood coming from the mouth.]]
* BluntMetaphorsTrauma: [[spoiler:Jean, not surprising considering English isn't his first language.]]
* UsefulNotes/BritishEnglish: Dawitsu using 'Rubbish' instead of 'Garbage' of all things almost stops him from [[spoiler:successfully re-entering the Scarlet Devil Mansion (which he should have been in anyway) under the guise of a fairy.]]
* CanonSue: In-universe. Dawitsu out-and-out names Reimu as one, after Yutaka mistakes the PlotArmor-clad Protagonist (from that description alone) for Dawitsu, not Reimu.
* CantLiveWithoutYou: Once again, Dawitsu to Yutaka.
* CaptainOblivious: Suika. She doesn't notice [[spoiler:Jean]] is in her futon even ''after'' she instinctively throws herself on it, remarking that the futon's "lumpy". Also, when [[spoiler:Jean]] tries to confront her about [[ContinuityPorn the restaurant she blew up]], she doesn't understand what he's talking about.
* CaptainObvious: Dawitsu thinks Rationality is rational. Rationality {{lampshade|Hanging}}s this, saying, "Thanks for the [[spoiler:[[SelfDemonstratingArticle spoiler]]]], Captain Obvious."
* CasualKink
** Taken to the point of {{Flanderization}} with Dawitsu. His Sex Drive's embodiment is Nue Houjuu, notably because of her [[ZettaiRyouiki thigh-high socks...]]
** Also, when [[spoiler:Hatate sets up a dating service for Alice,]] Tenshi asks [[spoiler:Alice]], "You like hurting me, right? You'll be perfect..."
* CatapultNightmare: Dawitsu wakes up screaming "It's not right!" after one of his dreams...
* CelibateHero: Dawitsu believes being this would be the better option for life, [[spoiler:but Love and Sex Drive somewhat change his mind.]]
* ChangeTheUncomfortableSubject: Dawitsu does this a couple of times to try and shift attention away from his more embarrassing secrets. Unfortunately for him (and to the amusement of everyone else) he isn't very good at it.
* CharacterDevelopment: Dawitsu, Alice, Yutaka, Sakuya, Flandre, Ran... they all seem to emotionally grow in this book. Even the now OutOfFocus Reimu gets some...
* CharacterizationTags: May as well be present while [[spoiler:Yutaka has her flashbacks, with the Narration referring to the various incarnations of Yutaka as "The Overseeing Yutaka", "The Younger Yutaka", and the "Gothic Yutaka".]]
* CheshireCatGrin: Who else but Fantasy to have one, what, with his/her [[{{Shapeshifting}} true form]] being a Cheshire Cat lookalike.
* TheChessmaster: Yutaka again, this time a literal example, and is stated to be good at both Shogi and Chess.
* ChildProdigy: Bizarre [[SubvertedTrope subversion]]. Flandre is actually older than Dawitsu by about a hundred and fifty years, but is most certainly considered a child by him due to her naivete. [[spoiler:And when he begins to teach her, she picks up on lessons incredibly quickly, causing Dawitsu to label her as a Prodigy (although not a ''child'' prodigy)]]
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: Apparently how you get a broom to fly, if Marisa's to be believed.
* CPRCleanPrettyReliable: While mostly {{averted|Trope}}, it's played straight [[PlayedForLaughs for laughs]] when [[spoiler:Hatate's dating service [[GoneHorriblyRight goes horribly right]] and many people overwhelm Alice with dating requests, causing her to faint.]] Eirin, one of the many clients, offers to give her mouth-to-mouth (with the excuse that she's a doctor), however, it's {{lampshade|Hanging}}d that this is ''not'' [[spoiler:Alice's]] idea of romantic.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: [[spoiler:Surprisingly, right before a scene where Dawitsu almost dies. His heart has been impaled, but he still feels fine for a while, totally oblivious to the fact even though Alice is staring at the blood seeping into his shirt in horror. He manages to reference [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog the Sonic OVA]], say he's had worse injuries, ask about the wet feeling on his chest, accept Rinnosuke's thanks for [[TakingTheBullet taking the hit]], and remark [[DramaticIrony that Alice is acting like he's dying]] before ''finally'' noticing he's bleeding profusely from his chest.]]
* ContinuityPorn: The Grimoire of Dawitsu is brought up a couple of times, but notably [[spoiler:Jean Franc mentions reading in a newspaper that a waiter from a restaurant in Bayeux got sent to a mental institution for blaming the destruction of the restaurant he worked at on 'a girl with horns'. Yes, it is the random restaurant that Suika blew up in Holiday Edition. This is what causes Jean to have a distaste for Suika and her drinking habits.]] Also, remember the office that Dawitsu has that [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment was never mentioned again]] since Dawitsu's Folly? It's mentioned here.
* CrackPairing: In-universe. [[spoiler:Yutaka mentions to Dawitsu that [[ThisIsWrongOnSoManyLevels Flandre]] is "more his style" than herself due to her being a youkai ''and'' seeming to like boys, even if only in an innocent way.]]
* CrossDresser: Both Dawitsu and Sakuya are implied to have been a cross dresser at some point in their lives.
* CruelToBeKind: Rationality's purpose. Also, Dawitsu has a moment in which he ''actually punishes'' Ran for overplaying video games in order to stop her becoming a hopeless addict. However, the punishment is quite tame, only being "don't go on the Nintendo 64 for bit and take up other hobbies", so it's possibly a [[SubvertedTrope subversion.]] [[spoiler:Also, Dawitsu tells Flandre about death and its consequences.]]
* CrusadingWidower: A {{Downplayed|Trope}} example. [[spoiler:Jean Franc Levoisier lost his wife to (as revealed in the next book) Motoneurone Disease, and, according to himself, his friends abandoned him during his grieving, although it could be said his insistent hanging around at the coffee shop would suggest he unwittingly drove them away. Regardless, he considers himself with very little to live for, and hence goes to Gensokyo with Reimu with little care for what he leaves behind.]]
* CuddleBug: {{Inverted|Trope}}. Everyone seems to view Dawitsu as a hugging object, Dawitsu mentally [[LampshadeHanging lampshading]] that, in his opinion, he's the guy girls love to hug, but never kiss.
* TheCynic: Dawitsu's embodiment of Rationality may as well be called 'Cynicism'.
* DeliveryStork: Flandre, being [[TheIngenue innocent as all hell]], asks where human babies come from. Sakuya's answer?
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Notably part of Flandre's StylisticSuck-filled story.
* DirtyCoward: Reimu, [[CanonSue surprisingly.]] [[spoiler:She attempts to abandon Jean and run for it when Sakuya sees her talking with Rinnosuke (an event that understandably gets her riled up, what, with Reimu attempting to break her and Rinnosuke up but a day ago), not at all considering the fact she'd be dumping him in the middle of a death trap with no means of defense.]]
* DisneyAcidSequence: Overlapping with EroticDream during [[spoiler:Dawitsu's mental reaction to seeing Yutaka in a [[ElegantGothicLolita Gothic Lolita]] outfit. It's based off of the MushroomSamba of ''[[WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtheadDoAmerica Beavis and Butt-Head Do America]]''.]]
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: [[PlayingWithTropes Played With]] to ''death'' with Flandre. [[spoiler:Dawitsu helps her overcome this and become a better person during the book...]]
* DoesThisMakeMeLookFat: Yutaka trying on [[spoiler:her [[ElegantGothicLolita EGL]] outfit from eight years ago. She finds it tighter around the torso than she used to, apparently.]]
* DoomyDoomsOfDoom: One of Dawitsu's attacks is [[VideoGame/SuperPaperMario Bonechill's]] [[AnIcePerson minty fresh breath]]... OF DOOM!
* DopeSlap: Reimu gives one to Dawitsu for his continued mockery of her {{Tsundere}} characteristics.
* DoubleStandard: {{Invoked|Trope}} by Sakuya to stave off Flandre's decision to ask Dawitsu to marry her, saying that only men can propose marriage... Also invoked by Yutaka, [[spoiler:saying that she's exempt from her and Dawitsu's deal not to talk about Dawitsu's crush on her on the grounds that she's a Lady.]]
* DraggedIntoDrag: Dawitsu gets dragged into a maid outfit when making brownies for Yutaka.
* DrowningMySorrows: [[spoiler:Jean Franc seems to be trying to do this with [[DrunkOnMilk coffee]] in his first appearence.]]
* DrunkOnMilk: Yutaka, although not actually ''drunk'' off lemonade, is said to be 'drinking from a can of lemonade as if it were beer'. Also, [[spoiler:when Jean Franc is first seen, he seems to be trying to [[DrowningMySorrows drown his sorrows]] with coffee.]]
* DudeShesLikeInAComa: [[spoiler:Flandre mentions to Remilia that she's kissed Dawitsu while he's been asleep, presumably deep enough that he hasn't noticed.]]
* DumpThemAll: An odd [[SubvertedTrope Subversion,]] as [[spoiler:Dawitsu has the hots for Alice, Sakuya and Yutaka, not vice versa, and briefly considers 'erasing the Eros file' for all of them.]]
* {{Egopolis}}: Pride attempts to build one in one of Dawitsu's dreams, but fails miserably.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Yutaka has an outfit of this sort (presumably [[AllMenArePerverts bought by Dawitsu]]). [[spoiler:She uses it in an attempt to make Dawitsu feel better, but instead it sends him into a lust-fueled DisneyAcidSequence.]]
* EmpathicEnvironment: Played straight this time around... the snow is rather heavy when [[spoiler:Dawitsu goes out only to get dumped by Sakuya.]]
* EroticDream: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Yutaka asks Dawitsu how his dreams are going after she finds out he's been taking pills to allow Lucid Dreams to take place, and the moment he begins being secretive she assumes he's had one of Nue Houjuu (the image for his Embodiment of [[AllMenArePerverts Sex Drive]]). In actuality [[spoiler:he was having a more innocuous, yet still romantic dream of ''Yutaka herself''. That's the actual reason he was secretive, but Dawitsu lets Yutaka assume the former.]] It's later played straight during the above DisneyAcidSequence.
* EurekaMoment: [[spoiler:Yutaka is wondering what in particular is off about Dawitsu's heartbeat, and it is by remembering one of his overly self-glorifying speeches that she remembers that AV Node co-ordinates the delay between Atrial Systole and Ventricular Systole.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Sex Drive -- kinky to the point of fetishizing anything and everything, always acting as slutty as a mental embodiment possibly can... but much prefers sexual desire stemmed from Love rather than raw Lust alone due to dissatisfaction...
* [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Even The Guys Want Her]]: Named as such because Yutaka's a Lesbian, but, according to ''herself'', she's had [[{{Lolicon}} many a guy]] come after her.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Sakuya assumes this is the reason [[spoiler:Dawitsu asks Sakuya how Rinnosuke is in bed. Dawitsu denies his man-crush on Rinnosuke, claiming that spot has already been taken by [[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya Itsuki Koizumi]]]].
* EveryoneHatesMimes: {{Averted|Trope}} with [[spoiler:Jean's]] attitude to mimes. In fact, [[spoiler:he]] claims he wouldn't mind becoming [[spoiler:a magical one once he learns magic.]]
* FacePalm: Done by a few people, not all of them {{Deadpan Snarker}}s either.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: Dawitsu's opinion on starting a battle with Reimu due to her CanonSue nature.
* FamousLastWords: Yukari attempts to {{invoke|dTrope}} this by telling Dawitsu (while threatening to kill him) that if he has anything poetic to say, he should just say it so she could emblazon it [[RealityWarper on his television.]] Later, [[spoiler:Dawitsu {{avert|edTrope}}s this by his words before going under when having his heart operated on being "Chloroform, please."]]

* FantasticRacism: Reimu is slightly intolerant of Dawitsu being on her property, although that might be to keep up her [[{{Tsundere}} harsh exterior.]] However, she's even ''more'' intolerant [[spoiler:when she's dealing with Aya, blanketing all Youkai as man-eating.]]
* FantasyKitchenSink: A federal agent who's job it is to relocate Dawitsu and family in one of his Flashbacks refers to Gensokyo as 'a place where all the weird types went to live' and that Youkai are an endangered species in the Outside World.
* FelonyMisdemeanor: Aya's press breaking is a serious incident... BECAUSE HATATE COULD BE MAKING MORE SALES THAN HER! Naturally, Reimu doesn't care.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: {{Averted|Trope}}. CampStraight Dawitsu is forced to [[CrossDresser cross-dress]] as a [[{{Meido}} maid]] by Yutaka, and make brownies. The brownies taste terrible, but Yutaka appreciates the thought.
* FingerGun: Dawitsu holds one up to [[spoiler:Ninja!Reimu's head when assisting Yutaka's 'peacemaking' between the Shrine Maiden and Sakuya.]] It's actually functional, however, as he's mimicking Reisen Udongein Inaba.
* FirstGirlWins: [[spoiler:Dawitsu, under self-examination, realizes he still very much has a crush on [[TheNotLoveInterest Yutaka.]] In the end, he decides he's probably going to have a hard time falling in love with anyone else.]]
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler:Alice forces her first kiss upon Dawitsu, who is initially shocked before kissing back.]]
* FirstLove: Yutaka is implied to be this to Dawitsu.
* FixFic: In-universe allusion to it in the third chapter's name. Some might say that seen as Dawitsu is addressing all the formerly unaddressed wrongs he's done, that this doubles as a {{Meta|fiction}} example also.
* {{Flashback}}: Naturally Dawitsu's embodiment of Memory allows this to happen. [[spoiler:Yutaka's embodiment of Memory doesn't have this power, instead gives access to Yutaka's 'memory lane', which has fruit trees that, when Yutaka takes a bite of its fruit, induces a flashback.]]
* {{Forgiveness}}: A major theme, at one point, Dawitsu unleashes a quiet, sincere, 'I'm so sorry' [[spoiler:to Sakuya, and... surprisingly, she accepts the apology, and even says she enjoyed being his [[FriendsWithBenefits friend with benefits]]. Dawitsu doesn't fully accept that, and claims that he still did wrong by Sakuya, and that it wasn't fair that he messed her around like that. Later, Dawitsu forgives Alice for almost killing him, giving her a hug similar to the trope image.]]
* ForScience: This trope appears as the name of Chapter 11, but isn't actually featured, and is more a reference to [[TropeNamers the Trope]] [[{{VideoGame/Portal2}} Namer.]]
* FreudianSlip: [[spoiler:Dawitsu calls Yutaka "my Love" during his BSOD. He doesn't even try to cover it up, he merely tells her that he doesn't tell her he loves her enough...]]
* FreudianTrio: Dawitsu is Id, Yutaka is Ego, Ran (when she isn't being a crazed retro gamer) is Superego. Also, in a more classically psychological sense, within Dawitsu's mind Guilt is Superego, Conscience is Ego, and Love/Sex Drive are collectively Id.
* TheGadfly: Dawitsu briefly teases Reimu by singing a little rhyme about her Tsundere characteristics, which is especially infuriating for Reimu because she doesn't know what a Tsundere is...
* GamerChick: Ran isn't as stereotypical a gamer chick as Sakuya was in Holiday Edition, and prefers classics such as ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]]'' and ''{{VideoGame/Mother 3}}''.
* GayParee: Once again, someone finds their way to Paris. [[spoiler:This time it's Reimu.]] Also, [[spoiler:Jean Franc comes from here, but it's implied by his "Provincial Accent" that he wasn't raised there.]]
* GenericCuteness: {{Discussed|Trope}} by Byakuren, who, upon Alice asking why she would have trouble finding love considering she's "Amazingly Beautiful", Byakuren replies 'But so is everyone in Gensokyo... I'm nothing special in terms of looks...'
* GeniusBruiser: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Hong Meiling seems to have a non-combatant method of guarding the Scarlet Devil Mansion- asking potential intruders to wait as she asks Remilia's permission to enter. If they refuse to wait, they're a threat, and she'll beat them up. If they agree to wait, they're most likely civil and not a threat, so Hong Meiling will tell them they've 'passed the test' and let them through.
* GirlOnGirlIsHot: Dawitsu certainly thinks so. He smirks with [[AllMenArePerverts no doubt perverse glee]] as Patchouli and Yutaka kiss, even getting a little {{Nosebleed}} in the process. Also, Byakuren [[BreakingTheFourthWall breaks the fourth wall]] and {{discusse|dTrope}}s this trope with Alice, saying in response to [[spoiler:Alice asking her to kiss her]], "No. There's probably several people out there, somehow observing our every action and piece of dialogue, getting cheap thrills off of a bit of girl-on-girl action..."
* GoKartingWithBowser: Dawitsu and Yukari [[spoiler:form a somewhat tenuous truce. During that time, they play Golden-Eye together.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: [[spoiler:Hatate's dating service for Alice.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: While mostly [[AvertedTrope averting]] this, Dawitsu plays this straight when [[spoiler:commanding Yutaka to assist in forming Reimu a new skull fragment, telling her that when there's a life on the line, it doesn't matter whether she can or can't, because she ''has'' to, being a grade-A {{Jerkass}} in the process.]]
* GossipyHens: Yutaka is a [[SubvertedTrope subversion]] in that she does not actively spread gossip, but is merely interested in the intimate details of others, sometimes merely so she can offer advice.
* GRatedDrug: Once again, Aya and her ink-sniffing...
* GreenEyedMonster: [[CaptainObvious You'll never guess who Dawitsu's jealousy is represented by...]]
* GreenThumb: Yutaka reveals her horticultural side in this book when [[spoiler:preparing for a surprise for [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep China.]]]]
* GuiltyPleasures: Dawitsu has a chicken suit which he ''does not'' want using as matter for [[spoiler:rebuilding Alice's house.]]
* HandsOnApproach: [[spoiler:In Yutaka's {{Flashback}} about Dawitsu, his father, and two friends going bowling with her, Jedi!Dawitsu gives EGL!Yutaka help with her bowling technique by supporting her arm and helping her hands-on. Naturally his father and friends {{lampshade|Hanging}} the obvious ship tease.]]
* HeartTrauma: {{Averted|Trope}} with [[spoiler:Dawitsu's heart injury. He's the same before as he is after, aside from acting like someone post-operation (tired and in pain)]].
* HerHeartWillGoOn: Yutaka's [[spoiler:best friend and, [[AllLoveIsUnrequited in her eyes]], love interest was a human, and long since dead, but manifests herself in the form of Yutaka's Memory.]] Also, [[spoiler:Jean's wife died, and he clearly still loves his dead wife despite this.]]
* HeroicBSOD: Dawitsu has a brief one when he's confronted by his more negative personality traits in his Dreamscape.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:The more intelligent of Dawitsu's Chibi Clones blows itself up to assist Marisa in battle.]]
* HeroicComedicSociopath: [[spoiler:Jean]] seems to think this of Marisa, as despite the fact she's keeping [[spoiler:him]] safe, she unleashes her [[FrickinLaserBeams Master Spark]] on Hong Meiling, and kills a fairy, with [[spoiler:Jean not knowing anything about Gensokyo, so assumes Hong Meiling's been killed, along with the fairy. Marisa explains they aren't, but that still doesn't help Jean's view of her.]]
* HiddenDepths: Compare Dawitsu's opinion of Alice Margatroid in ''Grimoire'' to his opinion of Alice by the end of the book. She's very different to him once he gets to know her.
* {{Hikikomori}}: Everyone seems to view Hatate as this, Yukari even asking her 'Since when did you go outside?' upon seeing her.
* HollywoodHealing: Once again {{averted|Trope}}, and [[spoiler:the surgery of Reimu is still somewhat realistic in terms of anatomy, however, with a [[RealityWarper Border Youkai]] and a [[PowerOfTheStorm matter manipulator]] in the surgeon's team, it's a lot easier this time compared to Holiday Edition.]] Also, when [[spoiler:Dawitsu gets his heart impaled, the problem with his heart, as well as the initial wound, is erroneous functioning of the Atrioventricular node, a real node in the heart that ''really does'' cause that small delay between the top and bottom of the heart's contractions.]]
* HonorBeforeReason: Dawitsu is in the middle of [[spoiler:sawing scaffolds to rebuild Alice's house, and Yutaka suggests she just form the larger scaffold into two smaller ones with her powers. Dawitsu refuses on the grounds that ''he'' has to make amends, seen as he was the one to cause the event that destroyed her house.]]
* HypocriticalHumor: Flandre declares she's grown up. While throwing a tantrum.
* IAmNotPretty: Alice believes this, or at least seems to. [[spoiler:Dawitsu tells her she's beautiful, an event that seems to be rare, as she asks him if he would give her her FirstKiss. He kindly refuses (at first, at least)]].
* IDontWantToDie: [[spoiler:Dawitsu's Pride acts like this when Dawitsu is almost fatally wounded at is exploring his mind for what he thinks is his last time.]]
* IDontWantToRuinOurFriendship: [[spoiler:Dawitsu concerning acting on his feelings with Yutaka. Not that he'd have an opportunity, his love is [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited.]]]]
* IfYouEverDoAnythingToHurtHer: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. [[spoiler:Dawitsu asks Rinnosuke not to take Sakuya for granted, possibly because, as he mentioned in Holiday Edition, that's what he himself was guilty of.]]
* IHatePastMe: Dawitsu seems to think his former self is more inept than his current self.
* ILetYouWin: A far more non-violent version, Yutaka is said to be coming up with a 'suitably strategic, yet highly flawed move' when playing against Chen in Chess so as to give an adequate challenge while still giving her a chance at victory.
* ImprobableChopsticksSkill: {{Inverted|Trope}} with Dawitsu. He sucks at using chopsticks, but still insists on using them just to be polite to Alice.
* IncompatibleOrientation: [[spoiler:Dawitsu, not only with Yutaka, but with ''Alice'' too. Dawitsu even {{lampshade|Hanging}}s how he always seems to like girls he can't have (Lesbians and [[MayflyDecemberRomance humans)]]]] Also, [[spoiler:Alice and Marisa, and upon Dawitsu and Alice [[DiscussedTrope discussing]] this with each other, they find something they have in common.]]
* InformedFlaw: [[spoiler:Jean]] is supposedly cowardly. However, as one reader of the series noted, [[spoiler:he's a normal human in Gensokyo... being overly cautious and mistrusting of anyone and everyone in Gensokyo is ''smart'', not cowardly.]]
* TheIngenue: Flandre
* InsaneTrollLogic: This exchange between Dawitsu and Sakuya:
-->''Sakuya folded her arms, "Tell me."\\
"Why should I?"\\
[[spoiler:"Because I'm your ex."]]\\
"That makes no sense..."\\
"Just tell me!" Sakuya demanded.
* InsistentTerminology: {{Parodied|Trope}} briefly by the narrator, stating a Todd Mcfarlane ''{{VideoGame/Halo 3}}'' action figure to be a doll.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddNinja: [[spoiler:Reimu Hakurei. Dressed as a frackin' ninja.]]
* ItsALongStory: Dawitsu asks Sakuya how she came to be in the service of Remilia, and so she avoids telling him by saying it's a long story, and that they'd be talking all night by the time she was done.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[PlayingWithTropes Played With.]] [[spoiler:After finding out Sakuya is now with Rinnosuke, Dawitsu berates himself mentally, thinking that he ''should'' be happy for them. However, he has a realistically hard time doing so, but eventually gets over it, preferring to stay a good friend of Sakuya's.]]
* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: The whole basis of the book is mental exploration.
* KnightOfCerebus: [[spoiler:Alice accidentally impales Dawitsu when he stops her doing the same to Rinnosuke, causing him to ALMOST DIE.]]
* LarynxDissonance: Dawitsu may be a mimicker and a ManOfAThousandVoices, but Remilia can do a better impression of [[Literature/OfMiceAndMen Curley's Wife]] than Dawitsu because, well, he's male and she's female.
* LaserGuidedKarma: {{Invoked|Trope}}. Dawitsu, upon introspection, realizes he's wronged a great many people, and takes it upon himself to right these wrongs.
* LastSecondWordSwap: Dawitsu mentions about knowing that Sakuya has a mole right under her... Sakuya interjects with 'navel'.
* LethalChef: Flandre. Her attempt at making a cake apparently looks closer to 'Five Kilograms of Flour poured into one tiny bowl with a broken egg and it's shell on top' than cake mixture.
* LiteralChangeOfHeart: [[spoiler:Dawitsu gets healed from his heart rupture by the tissue being fixed and an artificial AV Node created by Yutaka being inserted, that is, the node which regulates the delay between Atrial and Ventricular systole (why a heartbeat is DUBDUB, not one big DUB), and so [[SubvertedTrope to some extent]] this has occurred.]]
* LogicBomb: The main method of exiting from anywhere on the 'Portal Floor' of the Dawitsu Mansion is to tell the pre-recorded 'AI' that 'this sentence is false'. Due to this merely being a password that sets up a scripted event (as Dawitsu states that each phrase uttered by the Portal Floor's equivilent of GLaDOS is already recorded) and not the result of an actual AI analyzing the logic of the situation, this is a [[SubvertedTrope subversion.]]
** Fantasy has an odd example: "Fantasy began to unwind its paw with the same paw that was being unwound." [[AWizardDidIt Don't ask how that works.]]
* LonersAreFreaks: Violently {{Deconstructed|Trope}} with Alice; she turns out to be an extremely kind-hearted individual once Dawitsu and co get to know her.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Dawitsu hates himself for how [[IHatePastMe in the past,]] he'd simply fall in love with women almost instantaneously.
* LoveHurts: Played Straight. [[spoiler:Once Dawitsu accepts Yutaka as being the only woman for him, he's got to spend his life accepting he'll [[IncompatibleOrientation never be with her.]]]]
* ManOfAThousandVoices: Dawitsu is this while voicing the characters from ''Of Mice and Men'' while Flandre narrates.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: Yutaka. Hoo boy, Yutaka. Alice has a moment of this too.
* MediumAwareness: Dawitsu's Pride considers Dawitsu 'the greatest original character ever made.' Also, Dawitsu mentions that he isn't part of ''official'' works at one point. Byakuren also seems to know that people are reading her every action- to quote, '[[TakeThatAudience There's probably several people out there, somehow observing our every action and piece of dialogue, getting cheap thrills off of a bit of girl-on-girl action...]]'
* {{Meido}}: ''Not'' for {{Fanservice}}, unless you [[CrossDresser like that kind of thing.]] Dawitsu wears one.
* MenDontCry: Dawitsu attempts to play this straight, but {{subverte|dTrope}}s this [[spoiler:when ''trying'' to cover up the fact he's crying to Yutaka when confessing his love for her, but ultimately crying anyway.]]
* {{Miko}}: According to Yutaka, the Japanese ''really'' like shrine maidens. Also, Marisa mentions the stereotype that Miko are pure upon the discovery of [[spoiler:Jean living in Reimu's house.]]
* MirrorSelf: Pride is this to Dawitsu, even referring to Dawitsu as himself.
* MotivationalKiss: Yutaka offers one to Dawitsu [[spoiler:to get him to reveal what he was dreaming about that he considers worthy of hiding, not actually knowing that's only sending Dawitsu further over the edge because [[DramaticIrony it's a romantic dream about Yutaka that Dawitsu is hiding.]]]] After he declines, she proceeds to {{invert|edTrope}} the trope by threatening to kiss him if he ''doesn't'' [[spoiler:reveal his dream.]]
* MurderTheHypotenuse: [[spoiler:Reimu {{downplay|edTrope}}s this by threatening Sakuya in response to her being with Rinnosuke and acting as competition. Also, when Alice finds out Marisa has a crush, ''also on Rinnosuke'', she plays this trope painfully straight, attempting to kill Rinnosuke before Dawitsu [[TakingTheBullet takes the attack]] for him.]]
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: When Dawitsu says 'Good job, everyone!' [[spoiler:after successfully repairing Reimu's skull,]] Aya, Chen, and Ran feel bad because they know, not being useful, that they don't count as 'everyone'. Also PlayedForLaughs in the more traditional sense with Patchouli, who acknowledges Yutaka as a visitor while saying, 'Oh, and Dawitsu as well.'. Dawitsu {{lampshade|Hanging}}s this and even out-and-out objects to being the 'Zoidberg' of the group.
* MyLifeFlashedBeforeMyEyes: [[spoiler:Dawitsu's Memory and Fantasy explain it as a last-resort defense mechanism that attempts to find a way to fix the person who's dying's condition.]]
* {{Namedar}}: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Hatate ''thinks'' she has Namedar, but fails to deduce Dawitsu's name using her "journalistic skills".
* NiceGuy: [[spoiler:Jean... oh boy, Jean. He helps Reimu through Paris, walks her to his apartment, where (as one reviewer noted) he could have taken advantage of her at any point, and gives her a place to stay overnight, as well as offering to help hook her up with a man from the outside world, all for free!]]
* NoFourthWall: The whole pre-battle exchange between [[GenreSavvy Marisa and Dawitsu]].
* NoMrBondIExpectYouToDine: [[spoiler:Remilia ''thinks'' she's keeping Dawitsu a prisoner. And what better thing to do with a prisoner than let them eat your food and sit at your dining table?]]
* NoSuchThingAsWizardJesus: {{Averted|Trope}}. After Yutaka imitates Jesus by feeding the residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion Fish and Loaves, Sakuya asks whether Jesus was a Youkai or gifted human. Dawitsu assumes he's the Son of a [[RealityWarper reality warping God.]]
* {{Nosebleed}}: [[spoiler:When Yutaka decides to wear her [[ElegantGothicLolita EGL]] costume from years ago, Dawitsu has a large-scale one... if [[http://duwee-davisii.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4snbvt this piece of artwork]] courtesy of the author is anything to go by...]]
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Yutaka {{invoke|dTrope}}s this and deliberately invades Reimu's personal space so as to make her feel uncomfortable enough to leave the Scarlet Devil Mansion, as she's [[ItMakesSenseInContext temporarily on guard duty there.]]
* NotADate: [[spoiler:Jean mentions when Reimu makes Miso Soup for two that it's often considered romantic, but Reimu [[{{Tsundere}} insists it isn't]].]]
* NotSoDifferent: Hatate copies Aya's delivery techniques so her paper will be more popular. Yukari notices this and says to Dawitsu 'Hey, she's being a copycat so she can be successful... remind you of anyone, [[MegaManning Dawitsu]]?'
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: Rumia, although an utter failure at hunting regular Gensokyo-dwelling humans, genuinely puts [[spoiler:Jean Franc]] in danger, almost managing to eat [[spoiler:him.]]
* NotWhatItLooksLike: A [[SubvertedTrope subversion]]. [[spoiler:In many ways, it's exactly what it looks like, in that Yutaka, in an attempt to give Dawitsu a "friendly kiss", ends up falling on top of him due to being on her tip-toes, and Sakuya walks in on this situation, somewhat confused.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: A client indirectly mentioned by Tomasu over the phone is stated to 'look like a Bond Villain' and wonders if he'll buy some Carnivorous Sharks from his Aquarium, and upon [[GenreSavvy Dawitsu]] asking how large his moustache is, Tomasu replies 'very large', causing Dawitsu to conclude that he ''is'' a Bond Villain
* OneHeadTaller: {{Parodied|Trope}} when [[spoiler:Yutaka attempts to give Dawitsu a kiss, but due to how much shorter she is, she falls on top of him when getting on her tip toes...]]
* OnlySaneMan: [[spoiler:Dawitsu's Love seems to be the only personality embodiment ''not'' running around in hysterics while Dawitsu seems to be dying.]]
* OperationJealousy: [[spoiler:Reimu attempts this with Rinnosuke, trying to convince him to want her by pretending Jean is her boyfriend. Naturally, Rinnosuke is happy with Sakuya, so the plot [[EpicFail fails miserably.]]]]
* OrAreYouJustHappyToSeeMe: Sex Drive out-and-out says the line "Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" in one of her (many) slutty moments.
* OutOfCharacterMoment
** [[spoiler:Yutaka ''whips'' Dawitsu as small-scale revenge for being lazy the majority of the time. Dawitsu responds with, "I didn't realise that was your style, but sure, whatever, we can do that stuff, if you want. [[CasualKink Whatever floats your boat]], I guess. But not now, I'm working."]]
** Also, whenever Sakuya references ''Film/TheRoom'' it's somewhat jarring. A particularly [[CrowningMomentOfFunny funny]] instance consists of Yukari quoting [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants a certain Chocolate-Crazed fish...]]
* PandaingToTheAudience: One of [[spoiler:Dawitsu's old friends in Yutaka's flashback]] is wearing a Giant Panda outfit.
* TheParalyzer: Dawitsu can use a "Vulcan Sleeper Hold" thanks to his mimicry.
* PeerPressureMakesYouEvil: {{Averted|Trope}}. Patchouli considers leaving to read in Dawitsu's library [[spoiler:while he's recovering from a potentially fatal impaling of the heart]], but Yutaka, Ran, and Chen all choose to stay [[spoiler:with Dawitsu]], and Peer Pressure forces her to stay also.
* PoirotSpeak: {{Averted|Trope}} with [[spoiler:Jean. He]] only speaks in French when he either wants to blurt something out that no-one wants to hear, or is a particularly difficult English word, but says simple words like "he", "she", "the", "and" and "but" fine.
* PrecociousCrush: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Flandre's [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation childish]] [[{{Kawaiiko}} attitude]], one can also say her insistence of making Dawitsu (who acts like a functioning adult) marry her could count ([[FridgeLogic despite her actually being older than Dawitsu]])).
* {{Pride}}: The embodiment of Dawitsu's Pride is a mirror image of himself, which would also make it Vanity as well...
* TheProblemWithPenIsland: A [[ParodiedTrope deliberately terrible]] instance of this is used while Dawitsu's playing [[ImpossibleTask '"Find a sentence that Sex Drive can't find an innuendo out of"]], relating to Pen Island...
* PunchAWall: {{Subverted|Trope}}. [[spoiler:Upon being dumped by Sakuya, Dawitsu goes on a {{Wangst}}y self-blame trip,]] and punches the trunk of a spruce tree in frustration at himself. The snow-covered tree proceeds to dump a load of snow onto Dawitsu... ''not'' PlayedForLaughs.
* RashomonStyle: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Yutaka and Dawitsu have a flashback of the same event, and Yutaka's Point-of-view completes the full story rather than contradicts anything that happens in Dawitsu's version of the event.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: According to the Author's Notes, the method in which Dawitsu [[spoiler:wakes up the almost comatose Reimu Hakurei (that is, tickling her feet to cause a strong reflexial stimulus)]] is based off of how his family [[spoiler:woke up his Great-Grandfather who was in Intensive Care at the time.]]
* RefugeInAudacity: Played [[DownplayedTrope rather subtly]] with Dawitsu. Sometimes he attempts to sound happy-go-lucky when actually rather hurt and fails, other times he succeeds. [[spoiler:His flirtation with Yutaka towards the end of the book certainly serves as less subtle playing of the trope, as he certainly knows [[IncompatibleOrientation there's no point trying to be with her.]]]]
* TheReveal: A really early one in Chapter One: [[spoiler:Sakuya got tired of being FriendsWithBenefits with Dawitsu and decided to get with a man who takes her seriously -- Rinnosuke.]] Also, when Chapter 5 ends keeping which [[spoiler:'love file' Dawitsu kept unknown, Chapter 6's ending reveals it's... [[TheNotLoveInterest Yutaka.]]]]
* RhetoricalQuestionBlunder: Sex Drive gets one when Dawitsu answers the question, 'How would you like it if you could never appreciate the fine, ''fine'' looks of these girls?' with 'I'd be a better person because of it!'.
* RomanticTwoGirlFriendship: [[spoiler:Yutaka and her deceased childhood friend known only as "Kushi-chan" by Yutaka are implied to have been this.]]
* RougeAnglesOfSatin: "Fazed" is often spelled as "phased" throughout the book.
* RunningGag: {{Defied|Trope}} as Dawitsu assists Reimu in fortifying her walls to be fully Aya-proof, thus rendering her Running Gag of bursting in through the wall impossible.
* SacredHospitality: Yutaka tells Alice to not refuse Dawitsu's offer for her to stay at his mansion because apparently he considers it an insult whenever someone refuses his generosity.
* SandInMyEyes: Reimu tears up while reading the [[ContinuityPorn Grimoire of Dawitsu]] article on Yutaka, and when [[spoiler:Jean]] asks her what's wrong, she claims it's dust in her eyes. [[spoiler:Jean]] knows that it's a {{Blatant Lie|s}}.
* SantasExistenceClause: Chen seems to have grown up between Holiday Edition and this, as she managed to come to the logical conclusion that even at the speed of a Tengu, there is no way Father Christmas could deliver all the world's presents.
* {{Scrub}}: In-universe. Both Yukari and Dawitsu can be considered this when playing Golden-eye.
* [[SealedEvilInACan Sealed Evil in a Vacuum Cleaner]]
* SecretKeeper: Dawitsu has [[spoiler:a quite romance-heavy dream about Yutaka, and Yutaka, being the {{Gossipy Hen|s}} she is, knows he's hiding something. Naturally, she probably wouldn't want to know if she knew that it involved her...]]
* SecurityCling: Dawitsu does this to Yukata during a brief HeroicBSOD moment.
* SexIsEvil: {{Discussed|Trope}} and {{Deconstructed|Trope}} with Dawitsu and the other Embodiments' reactions to Sex Drive. While Guilt certainly considers Sex Drive to be evil, Love considers her necessary, and Dawitsu believes he would be a better person without Sex Drive, but never goes as far as to think she's evil.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: Hate and Fantasy have this ability in Dawitsu's subconscious.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: [[spoiler:{{Justified|Trope}} with Jean and Reimu. Reimu really ''isn't'' romantically involved with Jean, she just pretended to be as part of her OperationJealousy.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: [[spoiler:Jean]] is briefly this to [[spoiler:Dawitsu and Yutaka]] before Reimu [[DeconstructedTrope takes apart]] his idea that [[spoiler:Dawitsu and Yutaka should have got married years ago by informing him of Yutaka's IncompatibleOrientation.]]
* ShipTease: Boy, is there a lot of this...
* ShoutOut: ''Every'' dream sequence of Dawitsu's is shouting out to some other series, partially {{justified|Trope}} in that he's a mimicker... his mind works on referencing things. Yutaka even makes a {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d reference to ''[[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya]]''.
* ShutUpKiss: [[spoiler:Once again, Dawitsu's at the receiving end of one, this time by Alice.]]
* SlapSlapKiss: [[spoiler:Yutaka [[WhatTheHellHero calls out]] Dawitsu on his various perverted moments in which he'd make Yutaka wear outfits seemingly for his weird kicks, and how he shouldn't lust over her and Patchouli kissing, going as far as to call him 'sick'. She then tells him to close his eyes and ''attempts'' to kiss him, but their [[OneHeadTaller height difference]] causes [[HilarityEnsues hilarity to ensue.]]]]
* SleepCute: [[spoiler:Lucky Dawitsu gets two different people to do this trope with. Flandre, many times, in a more innocuous manner than usual, and Yutaka, albeit across the table from one another, but this time in a more ShipTease-filled context.]]
* SmittenTeenageGirl: [[spoiler:Reimu, for Jean. He's one of the few people she's almost always in [[{{Tsundere}} Dere-dere mode]] for.]]
* SpeakOfTheDevil: [[WhatAnIdiot Wrongly]] {{lampshade|Hanging}}d as a DeusExMachina, Alice asks Dawitsu where his Shikigami is right before Yutaka knocks on her door. Correctly {{lampshade|Hanging}}d later when Sakuya and Dawitsu appear upon being mentioned.
* {{Squee}}: In-Universe. [[spoiler:Dawitsu and Flandre are asleep together ([[SleepCute in clothes]]), with Flandre hugging Dawitsu from behind. Yutaka and Sakuya stumble upon this, and find it impossible not to Squee.]] {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Dawitsu.
* StockholmSyndrome: {{Discussed|Trope}} by the narrator. To quote, "Now, normally when one gets attacked, kidnapped, and asked a favour, they adamantly refuse to help and run as far away as possible. But, for reasons other than Stockholm's Syndrome, Dawitsu agreed, and decided to take Alice with him to his house, so they could get some supplies."
* StylisticSuck: Flandre's [[SarcasmMode amazing]] story.
* SuperDeformed: Dawitsu's Chibi Clones make a reappearence.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Why would Aya sniff ink when she works all the time? This trope is also {{deconstructed|Trope}} by Yutaka -- to quote; "But next time, don't add specificity to the lie, that way I have less to affirm as wrong." Aya has a second lampshaded and {{subverted|Trope}} instance in which she's denying (truthfully) the validity of Hatate's article that claims Aya has a thing for the [[AmbiguouslyHuman Ambiguously Tengu]] Dawitsu.
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:Dawitsu does this for Rinnosuke, and almost dies due to his heart being impaled.]]
* TallDarkAndHandsome: A variation on this trope. Alice is disappointed in Dawitsu's scrawny chest, as she's under the impression all men should be "Tall, Handsome, and Muscular". She claims he fits one of the catagories. When Dawitsu asks which one, she gives the disappointing answer -- "tall".
* TechnoBabble: A large amount of Yutaka's dialogue consists partly of this, sometimes acting as a GeniusBonus.
* TemptingFate: Yutaka didn't think anyone would try to get to the Scarlet Devil Mansion during her short period on guard duty...
* TheFourLoves: Dawitsu's "Love" section of his subconscious is split into four "server rooms" -- Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape. Reportedly Alice's is the same, except her section of Love is a book with four applicable chapters.
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: {{Inverted|Trope}} with [[spoiler:Yutaka's Memory's philosophy -- she claims the subconscious is capable of noticing things the conscious self is not aware of.]]
* TheTease: Yutaka
* TitleDrop: Dawitsu mentions that he's recompensed for his actions. He even "winks" to lampshade the "terrible title drop".
* TrainingMontage: Once again, {{Averted|Trope}}, this time with [[spoiler:Dawitsu teaching Flandre how to read.]]
* TranslationConvention: Once again averted with [[spoiler:Jean speaking with a french coffee shop owner, although Jean speaks English for Reimu (and even then considers that somewhat a special skill)]].
* ToneShift: ''And HOW!'' From the wacky hijinks of the first and second non-spinoff books to a very introspective, characterization-heavy story with serious examination of the personalities of the two original characters ''and'' canon characters. The focus on the mundane and personal in this book is something that neither the preceding nor the succeeding books really pulled off. Hell, the author even lampshades the Tone Shift by asking readers if they are okay with it in the Author's Notes.
* TooKinkyToTorture: Dawitsu's embodiment of Sex Drive gets turned on by ''everything''. Even false accusations. Except [[FelonyMisdemeanor being a pushover.]]
* TryingNotToCry: Many characters.
* {{Tsundere}}: Not only Reimu this time, but Remilia has shades of it too...
* TVTropesWillRuinYourLife: The Author mentions in the Author's Notes of Chapter 9 that he is going to "waste three hours on TV Tropes".
* UncannyValley: In-universe. Alice creates an effigy of Yutaka, which is realistic enough to slightly disturb Yutaka herself -- to quote "It had an uncanny, slightly creepy resemblance to one half of Yutaka's face and upper body."
* UnreliableNarrator: Reimu remarks about the [[ContinuityPorn Grimoire of Dawitsu]] article about her, saying it's untrue and that 'The writer's a moron.'
* UnstoppableRage: [[spoiler:Aya goes berserk after Reimu destroys her press and insults the Youkai race, and punches her clean out (at the speed of wind, thus almost killing her) before coming to her senses and regretting her actions.]]
* ValleyGirl: Hatate is depicted as speaking like this, and to an extent, acting like one too.
* VisualPun: Or ''Olfactory'' Pun, even. Koishi Komeiji's image is Dawitsu's representative for his Conscience... how does she show that he has an Unclean Conscience? Well, by having hair that's a mess, and reportedly stinking.
* WaxingLyrical Dawitsu's Pride (unsurprisingly) sings, 'What have you done today, to make you feeeel proud?'. Dawitsu himself also sings "[[Film/MaryPoppins Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious]]" and "The Elements Song".
* WasItAllALie: [[spoiler:Yutaka asks this of Dawitsu when he reveals he still has feelings for her, asking if all the times they'd been cosplaying together was just for ogling purposes, and whether his attitude really has been "just friends" this whole time.]]
* WeaknessTurnsHerOn: Despite Reimu talking about how WomenPreferStrongMen, Yutaka believes Reimu really thinks like this, after [[spoiler:meeting the utterly powerless Jean Franc for the first time.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: Both Dawitsu and Reimu get one. [[spoiler:Dawitsu gets one from Yutaka, asking him if his 'just friends' attitude [[WasItAllALie was all a lie]] and whether when they cosplayed together was simply an opportunity to ogle her, and Jean does this to Reimu when he uses him to try and break up Sakuya and Rinnosuke.]]
* WitchHunt: In his BelatedBackstory, it's revealed that prior to secret organizations being formed to relocate and [[JuliusBeethovenDaVinci rename]] Youkai, that Dawitsu and his family suffered from one of these.
* WomenPreferStrongMen: Upon reading the Grimoire of Dawitsu entry on Yutaka, Reimu remarks that Yutaka would probably never like Dawitsu because women don't like men who are 'all crazy and stuff' over them- in other words, ''emotional'' weakness is bad to her.
* {{Yandere}}: Alice has her moments, especially when [[spoiler:she tries to murder Rinnosuke due to Marisa having a crush on him.]]
* YaoiFangirl: Sex Drive, despite being an mental embodiment belonging to a straight man, seems to find shipping ''Lord Nelson'' and ''Hardy'' 'romantic', despite "it being two guys".
* YouAreWhatYouHate: Alice fears that Yutaka might mock her [[spoiler:homosexual desires,]] causing Yutaka to {{deconstruct|edTrope}} this trope, and tell her there's no way she'd bash a member of her [[spoiler:own sexuality.]]
* YouCanSayThatAgain / RepeatAfterMe: In the former's trope article, the "comedic" version of the trope, as Dawitsu says "Things have a funny way of turning out for the best", and after Sakuya says "You can say that again", Dawitsu repeats "[[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment Things have a funny way of turning out for the best]]".
* YouMeddlingKids: Reimu references this trope upon [[spoiler:being uncovered as the Ninja that invades the Scarlet Devil Mansion,]] saying, "I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling Youkai!"
* ZettaiRyouiki: Dawitsu's embodiment for Sex Drive is Nue Houjuu. Make of that [[CasualKink what you will.]]
