Ahri used to be a much cuter and Music/GirlsGeneration-inspired variety in her teenage years, now having evolved into her [[DarkerAndEdgier more mature and dark-lit]] design with K/DA. K/DA.
** Seraphine is this ''outright'', both her real world persona and her in-game persona being the classic bubblegum pop idol and a RoseHairedSweetie, but on "MORE", to match with the members of K/DA, she takes on a persona more akin to a siren.

** Seraphine is this in the comic tie-in. All the readers know about her backstory via her [[CharacterBlog Twitter account]] is that she was a barista who aspired to be a singer-producer and releases covers of songs on Soundcloud. She's otherwise an average girl thats a fan of K/DA, as many who follow the lore are, who becomes an AscendedFanboy when she's offered the opportunity to collab on a song with them after being invited by Ahri. She's just unremarkable enough in the comics for the players to imagine themselves in her shoes as a newcomer that gets to work with their favorite girl-group.

* AnimalMotif: Evelynn's All Out costume has her two long trails covered in purple scales, invoking the image of coiling [[SnakesAreSinister snakes]]. Her "VILLAIN" music video also heavily features snakes, playing her up as alluring and deadly.
* ApologeticAttacker: No matter which variant she uses, Seraphine loves the members of K/DA, so either as a fan or as [[AscendedFanboy a peer]], she sounds pretty distraught from "killing" them in-game.
-->''(as a Superstar)'' "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! [[DeathIsCheap Are we still on]] [[BlackComedy for practice tomorrow?]]"
* AscendedFanboy: Around two whole months after she started her CharacterBlog, Seraphine established that she was a fan of K/DA by uploading a CoverVersion [[https://soundcloud.com/seradotwav/popstars of "POP/STARS"]]. This caught Ahri's attention, who decided to lend an invitation for the project. Her K/DA ALL OUT skin is [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration an in-game translation]] [[CharacterDevelopment of this entire process.]]
-->''(encountering a K/DA member as a Rising Star)'' "I love, love your latest track! Do you think we should sing together one day?"

* BattleRapping: Akali was originally a street-level battle rapper who gained notoriety from a viral battle rap from when she was 15 ([[NoodleIncident it apparently involved a few flips]]), and after she was picked up by Ahri, she now lends her hard-hitting lyrics and flow to K/DA. For bonus points, she's also a literal mixed martial-artist who knows how to wield kama, earning her title of "Hip Hop Ninja".
* BareYourMidriff: Akali's K/DA outfit has her toned stomach showing.
* BikerBabe: During the 2020 phase, Akali was established as being a motorcyclist, and she rides it with style and class. In the "MORE" video, she's riding [[ProductPlacement a custom Ducati Panigale V4]] which was actually made [[https://twitter.com/DucatiMotor/status/1321459602760892418 in collaboration with Riot specifically for her.]]

* BreakoutCharacter: While K/DA as a whole was a smash hit, Akali ended up becoming the group's most popular character, so much so that she (and by extension, Soyeon of {{Music/GIDLE}} fame) was brought back as part of True Damage. In 2020, of all the characters in the line up, Evelynn seems to have made the biggest impact, especially with her ImageSong "VILLAIN".
* ButNowIMustGo: Following the release of the K/DA EP in November 2020, Seraphine announced her hiatus from her character blog to focus on life.

* CharacterBlog: Seraphine was very quietly established through her K/DA persona through [[https://twitter.com/seradotwav a Twitter]], [[https://www.instagram.com/p/CCwD2ENBzfA/ Instagram]] and [[https://soundcloud.com/seradotwav Soundcloud]] around June 2020, sharing tons of music, artwork, and other personal interests long before she was even confirmed to be tied with K/DA (or ''League of Legends'' at all, for that matter).
* CharacterDevelopment: Seraphine's ultimate-tier K/DA skins and voice lines reflect her evolution from a small indie singer to a superstar.

* CoolCar: Evelynn is frequently seen resting on or driving an impressive lavender Lamborghini, apparently one of several fast cars in her collection. In "VILLAIN", she shown piloting a Dodge Charger with what appears to be ''living snakeskin''.
* CoolShades: Evelynn is almost never seen without some fancy pair of shades on her. ''Harmonies'' establishes through a fangirl trying to imitate her look that [[IconicItem they're integral to her style]], and when she meets Eve face to face and clumsily drops her own pair on the ground, Eve surreptitiously trades with her by dropping her own and "mistakenly" taking the girl's pair.

* CreativeDifferences: Invoked by Evelynn as being the reason she left her previously-involved groups, though she insists that otherwise, she nothing but good things to say about them.
* TheCutie: Seraphine is a young girl with ambitions of becoming a popstar, and her equally personable, shy, and excitable personality makes her quite endearing to follow along with [[AscendedFanboy as her dreams become more of a reality.]]
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: Kai'Sa, being the group's lead dancer and choreographer, comes with this attitude. ''Harmonies'' reveals that she made dance her life since youth as a way to cope with her constant moving around the world, observing it as "a universal language" with various dialects across the world that she could continuously add to her repertoire and share with others.
-->'''[=@KDAKaisa=]''': When the music begins, a symphony of movement stirs in my being. It begins as a rumble, [[MythologyGag like a calling from the void, hungry and demanding release]]. My body reacts to the call, jumping to weave a story. A story to leave the void behind, and fall into the steps of life.

* TheDiva: Much of the roster is inspired by this, though Evelynn has the reputation of "No. 1 Diva". In her own words, she's "an artist, not a socialite" with incredibly high standards, having once walked out on a live performance for a backing track she felt was too subpar for her vocals. Despite her turbulent presence, she has a massive diehard fanbase calling themselves "Deeva", and prior to joining K/DA, she had two solo hits in "Agony's Embrace" and "Ecstasy" and had known Ahri for years. It's telling that ''she's'' recognized as being "the foundation of the group's sound." ''Harmonies'' shows that she's also really nice to her fans, even to one she knows [[ItMakesSenseInContext was spying on her in a dumpster.]]

* ElementalMotifs: The K/DA-verse version of Seraphine is associated with the ocean. Her social media username is seradotwav, she has a wave emoji in her Twitter username, her sections in the "MORE" music video have an underwater look to them, her lyrics in the song include the line "Feeling like an ocean on the wave now", she has [[ElementalHairColors blue hair]] around that era, and [[https://twitter.com/seradotwav/status/1287879437686636544 one of her journals]] describes her lifelong fascination with the sea. She also has some association with stars, wearing star decals on her cheeks and using a star emoji in her Twitter username.
* ExecutiveMeddling[[invoked]]: It's revealed that Ahri used to be in this problem with her previous"Popstar" image. Her manager was very controlling about her appearance, diet, the songs she had to sing, etc. She left her contract to create K/DA, and is very adamant on avoiding this trope again.
* ExpressiveMask: During Akali's portions in the black-lit subway train of the "POP/STARS" video, the stylized mouth patterns on her face mask animates to her rapping.
* TheFace: Zig-zagged with Ahri. She's considered the leader of K/DA, but when it comes down to actual material for the group, she doesn't have that big of a role as one would expect the leader to. For some examples;
** [[VocalTagTeam She officially shares the role of lead vocalist with Evelynn]].
** When it comes to music videos for the group, she gets no more focus than anyone else. In fact, in POP/STARS she only had a slightly bigger role than Kai'sa as the groups main dancer.
** In "The Baddest", she was only given a pre-chorus verse, while Evelynn handled the songs chorus, and Kai'sa and Akali dominated the rest of the song.
** She has a somewhat bigger role in the music video for "MORE", though the video attempts to shift the focus equally across all the members of the group, as well as leaving in some time to show the guest singer Seraphine.
* TheFashionista: Part of Ahri's post-reinvention image is being a fashion icon, with her sleek design attracting fashion designers all across the world. She's also in the face of FOXY cosmetics and launched her own fragrance, Charmed.
* ForeignFanservice: Kai'Sa's international origins are played up in her profiles and [[https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/popstar-interview/ interview]], with her taste of international styles contributing a layer of exoticism to K/DA as a whole.

* IAmSong: Evelynn gets one in the form of "VILLAIN", released for K/DA's 2020 comeback EP. Also doubles as a VillainSong, as it details her misdeeds as a sociopathic dominatrix that treats her partners terribly.

* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: In K/DA Ahri's skin bio, it stated she took a five-year break following her success as Popstar Ahri before re-emerging with K/DA, referencing how the original Popstar skin was released 5 years prior.

* {{Mukokuseki}}: In the K/DA verse, Seraphine is supposed to be Chinese as represented by the language she texts her father in, her monolid and one of her voice lines. However, given that she has blue eyes and her unnatural pink hair, it's easy to mistake her for being non-Asian compared to Ahri and Akali, who both are drawn more consistently with distinctly Asian features.
* MultipleTailedBeast: Ahri, natch, whose tails in this line look both holographic and crystal-like, and even briefly change colors depending on what ability she's using. Funnily enough, K/DA's fans only ''suspect'' that they're real. [[spoiler: Official art implied that at ONE of the tails is real, as a younger, pre-Popstar Ahri photo of her shows her with a black tail.]]
* NoFourthWall: Seraphine's entire Twitter account runs on this, as it consists of her posting selfies of herself with real people in them (and she's clearly painted over whoever was originally doing the pose in the picture), interacting with fans that comment on her posts, and overall behaving like a normal person with a Twitter account. Her followers tend to play along, following the storyline and giving her advice as if she were real.
* NiceHat: Akali wears a stylish cap with the group's K/DA logo on it.
* ObliviousToLove: Seraphine, at least in the comics. It's obvious that her coworker has a crush on her from the readers perspective, but she is shown to be none the wiser.
* ReallyGetsAround: Eve is implied to be this, listed as having been romantically involved with several ([[NoodleIncident now-missing]]) male celebrities, though she's never confirmed a relationship.
* SameCharacterButDifferent: Seraphine is this, though without the PutOnABus aspect. While the K/DA ALL OUT Seraphine skin and Character blog Seraphine are supposed to represent the same character, they are very different in terms of personality, with ALL OUT Seraphine being more sassy and playful and character blog Seraphine more of a shy, anxious NiceGirl.

* SpecialGuest: Seraphine is treated as this when she's brought on the collab with K/DA. She's even credited by her name on "MORE" despite the other characters being credited as the real life singers that are voicing them.
* TeamChef: Kai'Sa is said to be found in the K/DA house cooking large meals. Her favorite food is Sichuan dry hot pot.

* VocalTagTeam: Both Ahri and Evelynn are the main singers of K/DA, though Ahri is considered the leader of the group overall.
* WaxingLyrical: Seraphine nods to plenty of K/DA lyrics in her various skins, as well as lyrics of other groups she encounters like Pentakill or True Damage. Of particular note are the taunts in her Superstar variant towards her now-bandmates, [[IronicEcho which are based on lines from the song "MORE" that each of them respectively sing.]]

* BilingualDialogue: Their songs frequently switch between English and Korean, and most of the group is multilingual -- Akali fluently speaks English, Korean, and Japanese, Kai'Sa speaks Chinese, Afrikaans, Korean, and English, Eve knows at least enough Korean and English, translating for the monolingual Ahri (who speaks in Korean during [[https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/popstar-interview/ their group interview]]), and Seraphine speaks in English and Chinese.
* BoastfulRap: Pretty much the entirety of "POP/STARS" is the group boasting about how unstoppable they are, but special mention goes to the bilingual rap verses by Akali/Jeon So-yeon, which ''starts'' with "[[BadassBoast I'm a goddess with a blade, 소리쳐봐 내 이름 잊지 못하게]][[note]]Shout my name so that you can't forget it[[/note]]". [[https://twitter.com/KDA_MUSIC/status/1325830511923761154 This tweet alludes to Pentakill on the cover of one of Evelynn's magazines]], further confirming that Pentakill exists.
* ContinuityNod: In 2019, Akali dyed her hair platinum blonde for True Damage, and with her 2020 K/DA ALL OUT skin, she appears to still be growing it out alongside her natural black hair. ''Harmonies'' also shows Prestige Edition True Damage Yasuo serving as their sound engineer.
* CostumePorn: [[https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2018/11/ask-riot-clash-prejudice-and-complex-skins/ Several Rioters are in agreement]] that the K/DA line were the most challenging skins they've ''ever'' designed (on par with Elementalist Lux, whose difficulty stemmed mostly from alternate forms and volume than sheer quality), [[https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2018/11/ask-riot-clash-prejudice-and-complex-skins/ with over 70 iterations in development]] ([[https://twitter.com/liyart_/status/1058844505275658240 Kai'Sa alone had around 40!]]). This totally paid off, as the final products are simply ''gorgeous''.
* DarkerAndEdgier: When compared to [[IdolSinger Popstar Ahri's]] much cheerier and colorful theming. Her starting K/DA was her breaking off from her cutesy teenage look to establish her as a stylish, more mature icon, with the group itself having a sleek, glamorous, and at times aggressive aesthetic to it. During one of her segments in the "[=POP/STARS=]" video, which are mainly set in a laundromat, there's a lingering shot on a laundry basket which has her old Popstar and [[MagicalGirlWarrior Star Guardian]] outfits in it, showing how she's moved past that image.
* DoingItForTheArt[[invoked]]:
** Eve's ongoing involvement with K/DA is attributed to this. Her issue of ''Harmonies'' reveals that she's been pressured by an agent to ditch the "experiment," seeing it as stifling her already standalone success, and especially since it was on a brief hiatus anyway. She refuses to sign off since at long last, [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall K/DA was finally coming out with new material again.]]
** Ahri created K/DA for this specific reason due to her stress from her evoked "Popstar" persona, and wanting the group to create what they love and feel passionate about, but not tied down and allowed to pursue their own interests.
* TheFace: Zig-zagged with Ahri. She's considered the leader of K/DA, but when it comes down to actual material for the group, she doesn't have that big of a role as one would expect the leader to. For some examples;
* FourTemperamentEnsemble:
** Sanguine: Ahri, the passionate and highly proactive de facto face and lead vocalist of the group.
** Choleric: Akali, the hot-blooded and aggressively energetic rapper from the streets.
** Phlegmatic: Evelynn, the haughty, domineering born-superstar of the group, the foundation of their overall aesthetic.
** Melancholic: Kai'Sa, the highly methodical, yet passionate lead dancer and choreographer of the group.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: K/DA ALL OUT Seraphine's skin variants are largely representative of her rise from an online indie star to a full-blown member of K/DA, but while the "Indie Star" and "Superstar" forms get solid coverage, the actual lore makes no mention of the middle "Rising Star" phase. The variant's description and some of its dialogue suggests that it represents a period where she first joined K/DA and is building up traction leading up to the release of their ''ALL OUT'' EP, but this isn't shown in either her CharacterBlog or in ''Harmonies''.
* GirlGroup: Of an especially edgy, KoreanPopMusic variety, inspired by real-life groups such as Music/TwoNEOne and Music/BlackPink.
* GoldenSuperMode: During the Afterparty event of Worlds 2018, K/DA Kai'Sa had a "Prestige Edition" (the first of its kind) that decks her out in flashy white and gold colors. Over the course of the next several months, very likely due to popularity and fan demand, the rest of her group received the same treatment.
* IAmSong: Evelynn gets one in the form of "VILLAIN", released for K/DA's 2020 comeback EP. Also doubles as a VillainSong, as it details her misdeeds as a sociopathic dominatrix that treats her partners terribly.
* IdolSinger: Ahri used to be a much cuter and Music/GirlsGeneration-inspired variety in her teenage years, now having evolved into her [[DarkerAndEdgier more mature and dark-lit]] design with K/DA.
* ImageSong: Each member of K/DA save for Akali has received one with a concept video to go with it. Evelynn's image song is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoWxv2yZXLQ "VILLAIN"]], Kai'sa's is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_PbH5y70Tc "Drum Go Dum"]], and Ahri's is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW1BpABbzHs "I'll Show You"]].
* KaleidoscopeHair: All the members of K/DA have gone through multiple hair color changes over the course of their appearances. Seraphine has also had multiple hair colors, as she starts out with pink and purple hair as an Indie singer. As the a rising star, her hair is half and half blue and pink. As a superstar, her hair is blue with a purple gradient.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: In K/DA Ahri's skin bio, it stated she took a five-year break following her success as Popstar Ahri before re-emerging with K/DA, referencing how the original Popstar skin was released 5 years prior.
* LowerDeckEpisode: Issue 3 of ''Harmonies'' differs from other issues as its protagonist is not a member of the band, aspiring or otherwise, but a random, previously-unseen fan. Through her perspective, we're given a distant observation of the group's mystique (especially of [[TheDiva Evelynn]]), as well as the varying levels of adoration they receive among audiences.
* MsFanservice: Ahri, Akali, Kai'sa and Evelynn in 2018. Kai'sa and Evelynn have this turned up in 2020, with a lot of Kai'Sa poses focusing on her attractive... assets.
%%* ShipTease: There is some between the characters, with notable pairs being Akali/Evelynn, Ahri/Evelynn and eventually Seraphine/Akali. Kai'sa is the only one that doesn't get any shippy interactions with any of the other characters.
* SingingVoiceDissonance: Invoked with the entirety of the K/DA EP as almost every song on the EP has a different singer take on the role of the respective K/DA member. Even Seraphine doesn't escape this, as her singer on the EP is different from the one that does her character blog song covers.
* TrueCompanions: All the members of K/DA are depicted as this, especially in the comic. Seraphine eventually becomes a dear friend to them as well.
* TheVamp: Continuing the trend for her original champ, Evelynn is this. Her ImageSong "VILLAIN" has her unabashedly boasting about her using and abusing her partners and only caring about money.
* VirtualCelebrity:
** Unlike Pentakill --who was originally just a theme of cosmetic skins that were {{Defictionalized}} much later-- K/DA was made specifically to coincide with a real collaborative release following Worlds 2018's "Afterparty" event, with the girls appearing front and center in their music video ([[MediumBlending and among the real artists behind them during their live performance]]).
** Seraphine was added to the lineup in a very different rollout that took advantage of her "virtual"-ness. She was first publicly established through {{Character Blog}}s grassroots-style and with nary a confirmed connection to ''League of Legends'', and through word-of-mouth, she started to gain a legitimate following of her own original music and posts before the tie-in was officially announced.
