* ''VideoGame/OctopathTraveler'': In Marsalim, you can meet a prisoner on death row named Kevin. His side quest is to learn what became of his old love Lara after he got locked up. Turns out Lara has moved on and started a family elsewhere, with Kevin simply happy to know she's happy and acknowledging it was his own fault for putting himself in his situation. The reward for the quest is a meager 300g and a Revitalizing Jam.
* ''VideoGame/DragonQuestIV'': Before dying, Rose requests Psaro to not hurt humans in retaliation by her murder. Tragically, her request goes ignored.
* ''VideoGame/{{Yakuza 2}}'': after getting shot by Takashima and losing the FinalBattle to Kiryu, [[BigBad Ryuji Goda]] asks his half-sister Kaoru to smile for him, since she reminds him a lot of their late mother and she had a wonderful smile. Kaoru complies, and Ryuji dies at peace.

* Belphegor offers this to Rudolf in ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry''. He asks for a [[TenPacesAndTurn duel]]. [[spoiler:He wins]].
* Gren from ''Anime/CowboyBebop''. He knows he'll be dead by before the end of the episode, so he asks Spike to fulfill his dying wish by towing his ship into orbit and letting him float off in the direction of Titan, the moon he wished to see one last time.

* In one timeline in ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'', [[spoiler:Madoka's soul gem is depleted to the point of where she will inevitably will become a witch. Her last request is for Homura to mercy kill her before that happens.]]
** In the ending, [[spoiler:Sayaka, before ascending with Madoka, asks to hear Kyosuke's last concert.]]
* Done cruelly in ''Anime/TenchiMuyo''. [[spoiler:Tenchi's mom, a horrible prankster, demanded Katsuhito and Noboyuki, when Tenchi asked for why his mom died, to read off a script of how she died before saying the real thing.]] Tenchi didn't take it too well.
* In ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', there are a few.
** Zabuza's last request is for Kakashi to bring him over to Haku's body.
** Chiyo's last request, while sacrificing her life to resurrect Gaara, is for Naruto, the only one who truly understands Gaara as a fellow Jinchuuriki, to stay close to him.
** Asuma asked Shikamaru to relay a message to Kurenai, entrusted their unborn child to him. With his last words he also asked for OneLastSmoke.
* At the beginning of ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'', when Germany captures Italy and Italy thinks he's going to be executed, he begins to cry and begs to be allowed to eat pasta before dying. (Keep in mind that Germany never showed any serious inclination to execute him)
* On ''Anime/SailorMoon'', the dying Zoicite tells Kunzite that he wants to "die beautifully". Kunzite conjures up a garden of flowers for him.
* In ''Manga/{{xxxHOLiC}}'', Watanuki pleads to a vanishing [[spoiler: Yuuko]] that she can't go because he hasn't fulfilled his promise to grant her a wish yet. [[spoiler: Yuuko]] replies that the only thing she wants is for him to continue existing.

* In ''Manga/MyBrideIsAMermaid'', when Kai is MistakenForDying, he says as his last request to have a final duel with Nagasumi for Sun's hand in marriage. Kai says he knows it will be meaningless if he wins because he would die anyway, but that he needs to settle the score and go out fighting. Unfortunately, Kai humiliates himself because his depression and panic over "dying" causes him to swing his sword around like a child throwing a tantrum instead of like a trained swordsman, allowing Nagasumi to beat him down easily. He's humiliated again when everybody finds out he isn't dying.
* In ''LightNovel/AestheticaOfARogueHero'', when Akatsuki defeated the Demon King, with his last breaths, the King begged Akatsuki to take care of his daughter Myuu. Akatsuki found this odd, but honored his foe's request, taking Myuu under his protection.

* Mira in ''Anime/TheGodOfHighSchool'' became HeirToTheDojo after her father's untimely death when she was little and spent her formative years obsessing over his dying wish to not let their family's FantasticFightingStyle die out.
* In ''Anime/{{Noir}}'', the last wish of [[spoiler: Odette Bouquet]] was [[spoiler: for her killer, a ''very'' young Kirika Yuumura, to take care of her daughter Mireille.]] [[spoiler: Around ten years later, Kirika becomes Mireille's partner and ultimately honors it.]]

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'': In the conclusion, [[spoiler:Izaya wakes up in a vehicle with Kine and Manami after nearly being killed. Kine informs Izaya he only has a fifty-fifty chance of living and that they're taking him to see an underground doctor. Izaya tells him it's fine as long as he's not in the city as he doesn’t want Shizuo to be anywhere near his deathbed]]. However, [[spoiler:it's subverted in the light novels as he does survive and even gets his own series. For anime watchers, it's up to the viewer to decide if he's dead]].
* ''Manga/BlackClover'': Before Lumiere truly dies, he asks Secre to watch the current generation of Magic Knights' futures and ideals play out, hoping for her to achieve her true potential and live on. She fulfills this by joining the Black Bulls.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Birdman}}'' episode "Meet Birdgirl". After Birdgirl captures him and imprisons him in darkness (which drains his power), Birdman makes a last request - to see the sun again. She agrees and takes him into the sunlight, where he recharges his power and escapes. [[Franchise/StarWars She was far too trusting]]...

* ''Literature/TheBible'': As Jesus was hanging on the cross, he told his disciple John to take care of his mother. [[note]]Interestingly, he had several (half-)brothers, but apparently none of them showed up.[[/note]] This final request turned out to be not-so-final a few days later, but still he wasn't planning on physically sticking around for much longer. Also, one of the criminals who was being executed alongside him simply asked Jesus to remember him in Heaven; Jesus replied that he would certainly be there with him.

* In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII'', Nora Estheim makes one of Snow: "Get him home... please..." She's talking about her son Hope, but in a cruel twist, it takes Snow half the game to realise this, and by that point, Hope is homicidally angry at him for letting Nora die in the first place. He does calm down afterwards, but he also refuses to honour his mother's dying wish, instead staying with the party to help them on their mission.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII2'': An odd example, in that the character is already dead by this point; Serah reappears to Lightning, who has just discovered that she has died, and makes a final request of her - to promise she'll remember her - before her soul completely vanishes.
