* In ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyondReturnOfTheJoker'', Batman (Terry [=McGinnis=]) delivers an epic BoringInsult to the Joker. He successfully drives the clown [[VillainousBreakdown over the edge]] ''[[ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine by laughing at him]]'' and calling his attempts to make the original Batman laugh silly. After all, the only thing worse for a comedian than a ToughRoom is TheHeckler. For all his snark about others' failings, being trash-talked at is the one thing the Joker won't tolerate. It is a brilliant IronicEcho to Joker's own taunting of the original Batman after finding out his identity, mocking him for being "a little boy in a play suit crying for mommy and daddy," with the insult being thrown right back at his face. The SmugSnake MonsterClown façade crumbles and only the monster remains from that point on.

* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'': Outmatched by the Joker in a physical fight, [Characters/DCAUTerryMcGinnis Terry McGinnis]] instead plays mind games with the clown, taunting him about his obsession with Batman and his sloppiness as a comedian, insisting, like the Joker told Bruce decades ago, that he's "pathetic", imitating the Joker's laugh at the ridiculousness of the "Clown Prince of Crime", saying that isn't funny or frightening. The psychological attacks which Joker has never suffered from the previously silent Batman send him into a crazed rage.

** Extremely rare example from the original Batman himself: In "[[Recap/TheNewBatmanAdventuresE21MadLove Mad Love]]", he taunts the Joker by saying that Harley had come closer to killing him than he (the Joker) ever had. Then Batman grins and calls him "Puddin'", Harley's pet-name for the Joker. He also pulls this stunt on Harley Quinn. After she tells him her plan of killing him so the Joker will love her, he actually breaks into laughter (delivered in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1bmM7Ihv0Y the most haunting, chilling chuckle]] by Kevin Conroy), telling her the Joker only cares about himself and mockingly informing her that he's played the same mind games on her with countless other people -- she's just the only one to fall for it.

* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeedFreedom'': Kira uses this against the Big bad quite spectacularly: [[spoiler:Aura and Foundation had previously shot Kira down and detonated a nuke over the area just to be sure, and believes him to be dead. She's about to fire [[WaveMotionGun Requiem]] at Orb's capital city, so Kira opens a comm line to her and announces that not only is he alive, but he also has all the evidence he needs to expose Foundation's FalseFlagOperation to the world and derail their world domination scheme. Aura is so seized by anger and fear that she orders Requiem to target Kira's ship instead... which misses, since the ship can dodge the beam while a city cannot. And since Requiem takes hours to recharge, now the heroes have plenty of time to disable it before it can be used again. Her {{Dragon}} even recognizes what Kira's doing and tries to warn Aura not to fall for it, but to no avail.]]
** Athrun also does this in his battle against [[spoiler: the Black Knight Shura]] and for good reason. [[spoiler: Athrun has dealt with arrogant, immature hotheads before; First Yzak in the original ''Seed'' (who Shura resembles), and Shinn when he was in his bratty phase during ''Destiny''. While Shura demands that they have a "fair" fight (i.e a head-on fight where he has a clear advantage), Athrun refuses to play that game and basically uses every dirty trick at his disposal. He ambushes, uses decoys, mocks him, and (hilariously) blocks Shura's Mind Reading abilities by thinking of his LoveInterest ''naked''.]]
