* The Nazis did this quite deliberately. Their troops, especially the SS, were intended not only to represent the physical strength of the Reich but also its ''moral'' strength, which included beauty. As a result, their uniforms were immaculate and stark, and here note that "stark" in German means "strong". The Nazis intended to rule and ''to be the ruling class''. Their uniform styles have been emulated due to their striking appearance.

The tangent about General Rommel and General Patton seems extremely unnecessary, comparing Patton to "a working class schlub who just ate a greasy egg sandwich at some shitty diner" doesn't compliment the rest of the paragraph. It is also innaccurate due to the fact that Rommel never surrendered to Patton and that Patton himself always wore elaborate uniforms, in contrast to most other army personnel. While I didn't delete the whole paragraph, I think it fits better in Putting on The Reich than this trope, as this trope applies to specific characters. Analyzing Hitler's uniforms would be far more appropriate.

As a result, their uniforms were immaculate and stark, and here note that "stark" in German means "strong". When you see the photographs of Rommel surrendering to Patton you could be forgiven for thinking the surrender was going in the other direction. Rommel is clean, his lines perfect, his dress uniform and decorations undisturbed, while Patton looks like a working class schlub who just ate a greasy egg sandwich at some shitty diner. The Nazis intended to rule and ''to be the ruling class''. Their aesthetic has been copid because it's distinctive and because they knew what they were doing.

The Colonel's outfits were varied throughout his long period as Libya's Brother Leader. During his early reign he typically wore garish, medal-covered military uniforms and flashy suits. By the 90s and 2000s, Gaddafi settled on wearing elaborate bedouin robes, he was also partial to sporting sunglasses.
