* A storyline of ''Manga/AyakashiTriangle'' has Suzu straying from the path to [[HiddenElfVillage Uraomiko's]] PocketDimension while wishing Matsuri had never been [[GenderBender turned into a girl]]. She ends up in the time and space Matsuri was in a few hours before the transformation, seemingly in response to her own emotions.

** It all started with 12th century French knight Godefroy intending to go back a few days in time and prevent the death of his would-be father-in-law. The old wizard's potion instead sends him and Jacquouille much further into the future (in TheNineties) due to the Wizard forgetting to add quail eggs.

** In the original ''Film/BackToTheFuture'', the [=DeLorean=] time machine starts out ''barely'' averting this: it runs on plutonium, which Doc Brown has a small stockpile of. However Marty accidentally travels back in time trying to escape some vengeful Libyans, not noticing that he turned on the time circuits before trying to outrun them at 90 miles per hour (time travel is capable at 88mph). It fully turns into this trope because he didn't travel with Doc's plutonium stockpile, leaving him stuck in 1955 and having to figure out an alternate power source.

They inadvertently fly around the earth faster than the speed of light and break the time barrier. They land, and find themselves stranded in OneMillionBC. After several months of attempts, they finally manage to fix the spacecraft and return to the future. Albeit with the cave-family who sheltered them along for the ride.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretWorldOfSantaClaus'': In "The Return of Santa Claus", Jordi builds a teleporter designed to move objects from one booth to the other. When Santa and the elves all cram themselves inside one booth while the machine activates, [[BigBad Gruzzlebeard]] sneaks in and cuts the cable connecting the booths, inadvertently hurling the protagonists into a BadFuture where Gruzzlebeard rules over the village as its tyrannical dictator and has almost completely erased the existence of Christmas. Fortunately, the gang manage to get back to the present by repeating the same actions and stop the events that cause this future to occur.

* ''WesternAnimation/TeamGalaxy'': The episode "Class of 2051" has the protagonists inadvertently time travelling one year into the future via a space vortex, only to discover that Galaxy High and Earth have been taken over by a swarm of evil alien bees. Fortunately, after saving everyone, they manage to return to their own time and stop the invasion before it can begin.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretWorldOfSantaClaus'': In "The Return of Santa Claus", Jordi builds a teleporter designed to move objects from one booth to the other. * In ''Literature/{{Animorphs}}'' a "sario rip" is a tear in space-time produced by a massive discharge of energy. The first time it appears in the series it's produced by the intersection of a pair of starship-grade dracon beams, the second by a nuclear submarine GoingCritical.

** ''Series/StargateUniverse'': In "Time" the ''Destiny'' crew find their own bones on an alien planet, along with a [[SurveillanceDrone Kino]] that has footage of what happened. Eventually they gather that their past selves ran into a solar flare when they tried to gate back to the ship, and figure out what they need from the planet. [[spoiler: Unfortunately by then all but Scott have died so he waits for the flare and tosses through a Kino with everything they've learned.]]
