YMMV pothole.

* MickeyMousing: According to [[WordOfGod James Gunn]], composer Tyler Bates wrote some of the score before the film entered production so that Gunn could film to the music. Notably in the climax the score goes up in key each time [[spoiler:one of the guardians adds themselves to the chain to help control the Infinity Stone.]]

* MookMobile: The Necrocraft fighters used by Ronan's forces. Equipped with powerful weapons, but quite fragile -- easily torn apart by two mining pods ramming into them, while one on the ground is easily taken down by Yondu with his arrow. The Ravager ships and Nova Corps fighters easily plow down through them, and it's only through sheer number they have any advantage.

* MookMobile: The Necrocraft fighters used by Ronan's forces. Equipped with powerful weapons, but a single weak plasma gun and nothing else, to the point that Ronan sees it as completely viable to have them kamikaze themselves into the ground to get more use out of them (note that, even when they launch their entire mass at the ground and explode, the effects are anemic -- civilians a few meters from the impact site are unaffected, when even a bog standard 155mm artillery shell would kill everyone in that distance). They're also quite fragile -- fragile, with no shields and paper armor, easily pierced by small arms and torn apart by two mining pods ramming into them, while one on the ground is easily taken down by Yondu with his arrow.them. The Ravager ships and Nova Corps fighters easily plow down through them, and it's only through sheer number they have any advantage. One of them also [[MadeOfExplodium explodes]] from falling [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=47&v=d5Gz7MeSbF4&feature=emb_title two meters]]. The Nova Corps and Ravager crafts themselves are also rather bad, being no faster than the Necrocraft and nearly as fragile, but at least the latter have ''some'' armor and carry a few [[KineticWeaponsAreJustBetter autocannons]].

* RecycledInSpace: The Avengers -- in Space! [[http://www.ew.com/article/2014/08/04/guardians-galaxy-marvel-avengers A comparison]].[[note]]In the comics, Drax is green. However, for the film his color was changed to a muddier grey, partly because the movie already had a bright-green character (Gamora), but mostly to distinguish his appearance from the Hulk.[[/note]]
