* ''Swamp and Circumstance'', Season 1 Episode 6, is the first episode to put a more negative light over Bean's drinking problem. Although it is also played for laugh and in-universe Luci does it for the lulz because he is a literal demon, he put liqueur into Bean's soda to sabotage her speech, while she is trying to stay sober during the writing and her performance, because Luci is Bean's '''personal''' demon. Under pression and with only Elfo's help, Bean couldn’t have avoided drinking even though she was sincerely trying to avoid it.

* Some viewers complained that the cynical and depressed Elfo in the first episode became much more generically bland and content in the series proper. However given how [[TastesLikeDiabetes saccharine Elfwood is]], ''anything'' other than their mindless sort of jollity would seem depressing by comparison. Additionally, Elfo has stopped being cynical simply because ''he got what he wanted''; to live in a place where people ''can'' be miserable, and happiness isn't enforced by threat of hanging.

* The true purpose of Bean's existence. Imagine going through your entire life thinking someone you knew was dead and, after succeeding to bring back that person, finding out that you were created solely to fulfill a Satanic prophecy concocted by people who will go to any and all lengths necessary to accomplish that goal, with the end result having a crown literally screwed to your head. Bean herself admitted that she was better off without Dagmar.

* Why does no one object to 14-year-old Derek marrying [[spoiler:Sagitha, [[MayDecemberRomance the old hooker fairy]]]]? Well, Bean and Oona were so badly affected by Zog and Oona's [[MarriageOfConvenience arranged political marriage]] that they're probably just happy that Derek found someone he cares about, Odval [[spoiler:just narrowly avoided getting caught making Derek his PuppetKing so naturally he'd want to avoid drawing more attention to himself]], the Arch-druidess [[spoiler:is revealed to have her own plans luring Bean to Steamland for her boss]], and the royal subjects have no doubt seen weirder (given Zog's track record). The only person who most likely ''would'' object is Zog, and he's [[SanitySlippage too far gone to know what's going on]], let alone object.

* In Season 1 Episode 4, Bean and Elfo unwittingly release a wagon-full of demons into the world, all of whom have wings except Luci. When they visit Hell in Season 2, Luci reveals that demons earn their wings when promoted, and promotions are handed out based on being a jerk. So why does he still not have wings? Because [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold he's a better person than he lets on]].
* Late in Season 2, Zog has a surprisingly heartfelt conversation with Derek about how justice is more complicated than in story books, and how no matter how fair you try to be someone always feels screwed, so sometimes you just have to go with your gut. So, why is Zog so [[HangingJudge execution]] [[OffWithHisHead happy]] in the show? At some point in the past he probably StoppedCaring (especially since he was TheWrongfulHeirToTheThrone in a CrapsackWorld) when he realized that no matter what judgement he gave some people would always be unhappy, so now he makes whatever [[CuttingTheKnot snap decisions are quickest and easiest for himself]].

Fridge isn't What If. For the Hansel and Gretel part, that's not fridge anything, it's pretty obvious that they killed and cooked another kid or elf.

* The truth Tess sees about Bunty is that she's got a hidden rage inside of her; Bunty cheerfully replies that it's why she "can't keep a dog alive", and it's just treated as a BlackComedy joke. But think about it: Bunty's rage has killed living creatures. This woman has several small children... what happens if she ever gets ''really'' angry at one of them, or if they just happen to be in the way at the time?
** Considering it's a medieval society, but does have a full police force, she would presumably be arrested, tried for murder, and sentenced to death by beheading (tough break for her husband), unless Bean convinced Zog to give her a pardon.
** Despite the implied animal cruelty, maybe Bunty just has enough love and self-restraint to not kill her own children? At most, maybe she just gives them a beating if they anger her enough.
** Considering that her children are expected to work outside the home at ''very'' young ages, it is likely that the main reason that they do not set her off is because they are mature beyond their years -- and also not home much of the time.
* In "Faster, Princess! Kill! Kill!", Bean and Luci are lured into Literature/HanselAndGretel's gingerbread house, and are served what they mistake for a roasted Elfo when Bean finds a foot attached to her meat. Thankfully, Elfo is still alive when they find him; but considering how small the foot was, how it resembled that of a human (or elf) and how [[ImAHumanitarian Hansel and Gretel turned out]], they very well could have roasted another innocent elf (or even a human [[EatsBabies baby]] or [[ChildEater child]]) who unwittingly wandered into their own slaughterhouse...

* Emperor Cloyd and the Enchantress both speak with vaguely English-sounding upper-class accents. Who else does so? Dagmar! Zog states that she was the daughter of a noble from a faraway land, but doesn't specify where. Her accent, use of the petrification potion and escape by sea indicate a connection to Maru.
** When Bean tries to use the crystal ball, the sparks that jump from her fingertips are the same visual effect as when the Enchantress cast a spell on Luci through her own scrying device.

** Elfwood is so oppressive that it makes ''Literature/BraveNewWorld'' look libertarian in comparison! So naturally Elfo is cynical because he can see the lie for what it is. But the outside world is the exact opposite. Despite its name, Dreamland has no such pretense. Zog doesn't even really pretend to be a benevolent ruler and all the ugliness is out in the open. So Elfo can just take it as it really is and even finds it interesting.
