* MirrorCharacter: Poppy is similar to Branch's brothers in personality:
** She and John Dory at first fail to listen to those around them, which causes them to make hasty actions and decisions without considering how others would feel. However, they have well-meaning intentions to help those they care about. Fortunately, they both learn their lesson and strive to be better listeners to those around them, especially to their friends and family.
** She and Spruce/Bruce are similar when it comes to caring for those who are younger than them, as she cares for the younger Trolls, especially Tiny Diamond, while he is a father with thirteen kids.
** She and Clay are both fun, but the difference is that Poppy embraces her fun side while Clay doesn't want to be considered fun.
** She and Floyd are the heart that keeps those around them from falling into deep despair, especially their friends and families.

* MirrorCharacter: ''Band Together'' reveals where Branch gets some of his personality traits from:
** He and John Dory start out as JerkWithAHeartOfGold, but shake off the jerk part as they develop into more happy and caring Trolls. They both lived in isolation away from other Trolls, as Branch hid away in his bunker while John Dory lived his life as a hermit with no contact, but his trusty companion Rhonda. However, they both realize that they were wrong to isolate themselves, as it prevented them from living and moving forward with their lives. Branch and John Dory have also been influenced by Poppy, as she not only became their FirstFriend, but brought out a side they have either forgotten or never knew they had.
** He and Spruce/Bruce have both been considered attractive.
** He and Clay are loyal to those they care about and will always put them first before themselves, even if they disagree with their friends and family. Also, they are both paranoid and overly prepared for everything. Although they won't stop being overly prepared, they do both learn to dial themselves back.
** He and Floyd are the voice of reason to those around them, especially to their friends and family.

* BigBrotherBully: John Dory seems to act like a bully to his younger brothers by forcing them to maintain their boyband images and perfection.

Added DiffLines:

* LonerTurnedFriend: Similar to Branch in the first film, John Dory definitely wasn't social with others, even to his own brothers. However, by the end of the film, he is becoming more friendly and social to others, as his friendship with Poppy and adventure with his brothers changed him for the better.

Added DiffLines:

* TookALevelInKindness: Although he wasn't heartless, John Dory's arrogance, obsession with perfection and preferring to be alone made him a jerk. CharacterDevelopment has him becoming more caring to others, especially to his brothers.
