* ButtMonkey: More like "Buttercup Monkey". It's subtle, but if you pay close attention, Buttercup gets less respect and often gets the biggest amount of injuries, embarrassment or just something bad happening to her in general of the trio.

* AchievementsInIgnorance:
** Every time he makes something useful, it was on accident. Dynamo doesn't count as an exception, because even though he made it on purpose, it caused disaster.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a nice, laid back guy, but if you know what's good for you, [[PapaWolf DON'T harm his girls]]. And in "Roughing It Up", he beat the snot out of Fuzzy Lumpkins when he cut down the tree that the Professor had planted when he was younger.
* BigGood: As the mentor, father, gadget supplier figure.

* {{Deuteragonist}}: He is the second most important character in the series, after his daughters, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup (The Powerpuff Girls' protagonists), and so much is the fact that it was he who created the girls who are the heroines of the city of Townsville.

* FormerTeenRebel: Well, preteen. When he was around the girl's (physical) age, he was a prank-pulling brat with no scholarly interests. It isn't until the girls save him from a time-traveling Mojo did his interest in science start.

* {{Good Parent|s}}: He's a loving, doting father for the girls.
* LikeParentLikeChild: The Professor shares some distinct similarities with all of the girls. Like Blossom he has a logical mindset and a passion for academics. Like Bubbles he's optimistic and cheerful by default and occasionally naïve. And he even has similarities with Buttercup! Like Buttercup he's quick to get angry and defensive with other people, has a natural aptitude for fighting ([[NoHoldsBarredBeatDown as Mojo and Fuzzy can attest)]], and in one issue of the comics they were shown bonding over blowing things up. However their similarities are really shown in the episode 'Get Back Jojo' where a trip to the past showed that as a kid, Professor was almost ''exactly'' like Buttercup (a little less outwardly aggressive but still just as violent and temperamental).

* OutOfCharacterMoment: While it's normal for the Professor to get angry with the girls when they disobey him, he goes overboard when he got angry with the girls in "Daylight Savings" when they wanted to go against their curfew to save Townsville. This is also combined with treating the curfew like it's SeriousBusiness while having SkewedPriorities regarding it as well.
* PapaWolf:
** Even though his daughters are super-powered [[FlyingBrick Flying Bricks]] and capable of handling themselves, he still worries about their safety as any parent would, especially on the occasions when they ''do'' run into real danger. In "Knock It Off", when Dick Hardley nearly kills the girls by draining the Chemical X from their bodies, the Professor begs for their lives, even offering to make all the Chemical X that Dick wants if he'll spare them.

* TheProfessor: It's his first name and he works as a scientist.

* SingleSexOffspring: He is he father of three artificially created, superpowered triplet daughters.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: While usually helpful to the girls, he does have his moments of this. Perhaps most noteworthy was in "Uh Oh Dynamo", where his overprotectiveness prompts him to build a massive robot for the girls to use to avoid getting hurt in battle. After forcing them to use it by threatening to ground them otherwise, they defeat the attacking monster.....''And completely demolish ALL of Townsville in the process''. Suffice to say, the townspeople are NOT happy when they learn what he did. Made even more egregious when Dynamo wreaks havoc again in "Live and Let Dynamo", where we learn the Professor failed to destroy it after it was banned from further use.

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: In "Knock It Off", he thinks of [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk Dick Hardly]] as a good friend of his despite the fact that Dick was obviously using him even back in their college days. Could also apply to [[LoveMakesYouDumb Sedusa]] in the episode "Mommy Fearest", though her act was more convincing.

* LoveMakesYouDumb: In "Mommy Dearest", he gained a crush on Sedusa (who was disguised as Ima Goodlady), and ends up agreeing to everything she says.

* CompanionCube: She can often get very attached to her stuffed animals, Octi in particular. This bites her in "Octi-Evil" when it gets possessed by HIM and starts actually giving her advice.

* MakeMeWannaShout: The Super-sonic Scream.

* GRatedDrug: The episode "Candy Is Dandy" tackles about the girls' addiction towards the candy that the Mayor rewards them for fighting crimes.

* ThatOneGuy: He's the only male character who officially lives in the Utonium residence.

** The girls are only able to defeat the Rowdyruff Boys in nonviolent ways (kissing them and emasculating them). They never defeat the boys with physical combat.
** In the two instances in which Princess obtains superpowers ("Mo-Job and "Twas the Fight Before Christmas"), the girls end up defeating her nonviolently.
** In "Bought and Scold," the girls are able to defeat Princess by simply exploiting a loophole in her decree (when she becomes Mayor of Townsville).
