The Hate Sink entry doesn't actually explain why Mecha Sonic is a hateable character. Even then, he has too many traits that lean on Evil Is Cool to truly count for HS. I've spoken about this in the HS discussion thread, with permission to remove months ago.

* HateSink: The atrocities he commits throughout the course of the series in the name of acquiring the ultimate power for himself, everything else in the world be damned, strips him of any redeemable qualities.

Drop The Hammer is now a disambiguation page.

* DropTheHammer: His usual weapon of choice. With the Hammer Bros. suit, he dual-wields hammers and can throw dozens of them in rapid succession.

* DropTheHammer: Like Mario, he occasionally uses a similar-sized mallet to fight, though not as often.

* DropTheHammer: Axem Yellow can form his hands together to make a hammer. It can split mountains, too!

* BigBrotherInstinct: Mario cares a lot about his younger brother Luigi. In Episode 1, even though he was annoyed by how Luigi was too scared to fight Bowser with him, he gets angry after Bowser insulted him, and in the reboot, after Luigi gets knocked unconscious by a punch from Bowser, he protects him immediately when he breathes fire on him in an attempt to lure him into getting hit in his place. In Episode 8's original run, during the fight with Basilisx, this almost gets him killed, as while he was dominating the battle until Basilisx uses his own brother's petrified body against him both as a human shield and as a club, and after this, Mario can't concentrate on his enemy because he's too worried about his brother and an eventual accidental friendly fire, as messeing up the timing of his attacks might cause him to hurt or kill Luigi by accident.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Even though Metal Sonic is certainly evil in the games, this version of him takes it up to eleven. He savagely beats up and murders everyone in his way, destroys an entire planet (and slaughters its inhabitants) and then destroys an island. The original Metal Sonic from the games hasn't done any of those things.

* UnreliableNarrator: Basilisx claims that Mario kicked his friend into a lava pit... but in Super Mario World, there is no lava in the corresponding room. It's been confirmed by Word of God this was a miscalculation on their part.

* NiceGuy: Mario is still the same compassionate and kindhearted hero from the games and is always immediately willing to help those in need whether it’s saving the Yoshis from the Axem Rangers or helping Sonic and Shadow to stop Mecha Sonic/Metallix.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Played with. Sonic was always a hero, but some of his primary traits in the games and TV shows were recklessness, thrill-seeking, and a general lack of total responsibility. In here, Sonic is much more aware of the big picture and doesn't hesitate to put his problems on hold for others, like halting the Emerald Quest to help rescue Peach from Bowser. Nothing puts things in perspective like losing your planet and friends to a walking, talking doomsday weapon.
