* AdaptationalModesty: Although her outfit in the 1985 film is still quite sexy, it actually covers more skin than her more famous ChainmailBikini.

* ChainmailBikini: Usually attributed to artist Esteban Maroto. Red Sonja is the TropeCodifier, if not the UrExample.

* ChainmailBikini: Usually attributed to artist Esteban Maroto. Red Sonja is the TropeCodifier, if not the UrExample. How she got it or why she's wearing it can depend on the run.
** According to ''Legends of Red Sonja'' by Dynamite Comics, she initially wore full armour, but Gerd advised her that agility would be her best advantage as a woman fighting a man. And if an opponent was DistractedByTheSexy, that didn't hurt either.
** The ''Queen Sonja'' series says that she first wore it as part of a slave girl disguise, given to her by her lover Kain, when they infiltrated a temple to free their allies. He died in action, and she has worn it as a TragicKeepsake ever since.
** ''Red Sonja: Ballad of the Red Goddess'' has Scathach granting her full-clad armour, but Sonja rejects that and says she wants all her enemies to know she is a woman, so the goddess grants her the bikini. This story was written by her creator Roy Thomas, so one could take that as the closest canonical origin for the outfit.
