* FighterMageThief: Arkayna is the Mage, Emerald, as the Mysticon Knight, is the fighter, and Thief is divided between Piper and Zarya. Though in practice Malvaron fills the role of mage and Arkayna fights more like a MagicKnight .

* ILetGwenStacyDie: A non-lethal variant; she blames herself for her parents being turned to stone by Dreadbane, and is desperate to cure them.

* ParentalAbandonment: Her parents were [[TakenForGranite turned to stone]].

* EmbarrassingNickname: Is called Pootinkle by her parents. She is less embarrassed when her love interest Kasey uses it.

* ConflictingLoyalty: The main source of drama in "Scourge of the Seven Skies". Zarya starts hanging out with her old SkyPirate gang the Pink Skulls and the other Mysticons aren't happy about it, especially since they suspect the pirates of a recent string of robberies. When Piper steals a flash drive from the Skulls to get evidence, Zarya is outraged that her teammates would do something so underhanded and rejoins the pirates--only to realize they were not only EvilAllAlong, but are planning to steal the Mysticons' Dragon Disk. Much drama ensues before Zarya reunites with the Mysticons for good.

* BreakTheHaughty: When she was first introduced, she clearly had an InferioritySuperiorityComplex: however in episode 12, [[spoiler: after finding out that Zarya was a Mysticon then helping her retrieve her Codex from Dreadbane's lair she finds Dreadbane trying to murder the undercity kids then lets out a BigNo: then uses her whip to redirect the meters. This causes her to get taken to Dreadbane's Dungeon until Zarya comes to the rescue. She then returns the favor by recuing Zarya and the other Mysticons at the end of the episode and returns the original Dragon Disk.]]
