This is understandable given that Ichiko's parents were almost completely absent throughout most of her life because they were working overseas, which Ichiko sees as no excuse for ParentalNeglect. Her father's arc has Ichiko understanding that her father does care about her despite his faults and while she hasn't completely forgiven him, she's willing to accept his attempts of bonding with her.

* LonelyRichKid: Her parents are always too busy with work to spend time with her and the only girl who she thought was her friend pretended to like her to hurt her. After that, Ichiko chose to never open up to anyone other than her butler Suwano, but she still yearns for more company deep down. She grows out of it after she makes more friends thanks to Momiji.

* LoonyFriendsImproveYourPersonality: Ichiko is a very self-centered RichBitch until the eccentric Momiji comes into her life and pushes Ichiko into making friends with a bunch of crazy and quirky characters. Despite finding them annoying at first, Ichiko comes to love the new friends who made her life so much fun and she grows into a much better person as a result.
* LovableAlphaBitch: At school, she's the boys' object of worship and the girls' target of jealousy. At the beginning, Ichiko couldn't be happier with all the attention she gets and sees everyone as lowlifes. However, she acts like this because she's afraid to get hurt if others see her vulnerable. Those who get to know her can see she's not that bad and she becomes a better person thanks to CharacterDevelopment.

* UsedToBeASweetKid: In elementary school, she was isolated from her peers, but she was much nicer and more innocent back then. One serious betrayal later and she hides her loneliness behind a mean and selfish facade, but still wants someone to see past it.

* MayflyDecemberFriendship: Momiji is centuries old and as a deity, she ages at a much slower rate than humans like Ichiko. Momiji knows she should leave Ichiko before they get too attached to each other because she'll outlive Ichiko.

* BoobBasedGag: Her large bust is one of the more common sources of humor. She even thinks she somehow managed to gain weight despite her lucky nature. Nope, her breasts just grew again.

* DCupDistress: Even though Ichiko is usually happy about her impressive breast size, at one point in the manga they grow so big that the buttons of her shirt pop up and hit Keita right in the {{Pressure Point}}s of his face, instantly knocking him out. Ichiko gets so upset about this that she asks Momiji for a breast reduction surgery.

Ichiko pretends to fight her like usual... before crumbling into mess of tears and letting her real feelings out (which Momiji was waiting for). Ichiko started bawling into Momiji's arms and telling her how sorry she was for the way she acted when they first met and that she was so grateful Momiji had mended her broken heart even though she felt unworthy of her help. * AlwaysSaveTheGirl: When Kanna was alive, Kanna's safety was the only thing that mattered to Ikari. When he overheard a misfortune god was planning to use Kanna as bait for Hanabishi, Ikari only wanted to run away with Kanna regardless of what she wanted and didn't care what Hanabishi could do to the villagers as long as Kanna was saved.

* BornUnlucky: Opposite to Ichiko and Kanna, Ikari was born with excessive amount of misfortune energy. When he went on a walk, he got dirty with animal excrement, he got into accidents such as almost drowning or being attacked by wild animals and the food he picked up was always rotten. To make it worse, his misfortune affected anyone who got close to him, which got him chased off his village. The only way he was able to achieve some happiness in his life was being around Kanna, as her fortune energy canceled out his misfortune energy.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: When he was human, Ikari was very miserable because of his terrible luck. Meeting Kanna and being treated kindly by her was the only joy in his whole life.
* TheComicallySerious: He quite seriously believes in ''Shounen Jump'' philosophy.
* CradleOfLoneliness: He clung on to Kanna's rotting corpse for a while until he buried it.
* CreateYourOwnHero: He was the one who granted Ichiko her massive fortune energy so she could eventually become a god like him. Ichiko ends up using that fortune energy to save people and stop him. * KnightOfCerebus: Tanpopo was the first KnightOfCerebus with her brutal beatdowns of unrelated strangers and emotional sadism, but throughout the arc the humor did manage to keep up. However, with Ikari as the villain the story took an uncharacteristically grim turn [[spoiler:and gives Ichiko a brief but severe breakdown.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: As long as he can achieve his goal of reviving Kanna, Ikari has no qualms murdering gods and humans along the way, or even plunging "his woman", Ichiko, into despair.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: His face is rather feminine-looking and his hair reaches his feet.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: All his villainy is motivated by his love for Kanna and how much he misses her. The "garden" he seeks to make is in reality a heaven where gods nor humans can hurt them.
* TheMourningAfter: Kanna was the love of his life. He can't fall in love with any other woman, not even Kanna's reincarnation Ichiko.

* PetTheDog: Contrasting the KickTheDog, upon seeing Ichiko crying at [[spoiler:the shattered Botan]] he says that if she is worth crying over then Ichiko should take care of her [[spoiler:and restores the shattered soul gem]]. Combined, the two add up to someone with skewed but ambiguous values. He still keeps the ribbon that she needs to actually manifest in human form because he wants to keep as much of Kanna's stuff as possible.
* PopCulturedBadass: When his jewel necklace is removed, he directly compares it to [[Manga/DragonBall Son Goku removing the Kame Sen'nin's shell]] and uses PowerLevels speech when comparing himself to the heroes. Keita [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this by calling Ikari a ''Magazine/ShonenJump'' fan.
* PrematurelyGreyHaired: His black hair turned white as a result of the trauma of losing Kanna.
* SignificantWhiteHairDarkSkin: Ikari is the main villain in the later parts of the series. He originally had white skin and dark hair, but he turned dark-skinned and white-haired due to Hanabishi transferring some of her misfortune energy to him and Kana sacrificing herself to give him her fortune energy.
* TouchedByVorlons: He became a god after Kanna sacrificed herself by releasing all of her fortune energy to save him.
* TragicKeepsake: After disposing of Botan, he holds on to her ribbon form because it was a possession of Kanna. He also keeps Kanna's kimono.
* TragicVillain: He was a lonely and terribly unlucky man who only wanted to be by the side of the only woman who ever loved him. By sheer misfortune, that woman died to save his life and inadvertently made him an immortal god in the process. Not bearing to live out eternity without his love, Ikari wants to overwrite Kanna's reincarnation's mind with Kanna's and wipe out the entire population of Butsumetsu City to create a paradise for only him and Kanna.
* TraumaticHaircut: Kanna once tried to cut Ikari's BarbarianLonghair with a sword and some kids hugged her by surprise, resulting in his current AnimeHair.
* UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans: His ultimate plan is to create an ideal garden overflowing with fortune energy and throw it to an alternate dimension where he and a resurrected Kanna can live in everlasting happiness as a GodCouple. He intends to turn Butsumetsu City into the garden by using a process of divinification, which will consequently kill all the humans residing the city.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: He has silvery white hair and he's the BigBad of the story.

When she fires him and then learns just how much he does to protect her, she gets a LuminescentBlush and calls him an idiot before rehiring him as her butler. By the end of the series, she has begun to reciprocate his feelings, not that it stops her from hitting him when he's being a lolicon pervert.

* ChildhoodFriendRomance: He has been working for Nadeshiko since they were children and he's madly in love with her, although the feeling isn't mutual. By the final chapters of the manga, Nadeshiko accepts his love.

* OlderThanSheLooks: Gods don't seem to be quite immortal since they clearly age, but Momiji is still well over a century old while still the equivalent of about a fifteen or sixteen-year-old. According to the author, this makes it okay for her to drink!

* WeWantOurJerkBack: Played with. Being washed turns her super nice and rids her of her divine powers and Ichiko is initially uncomfortable with the new nice Momiji. Even after she realizes that it's not an act she still feels that something is missing. However, she does grow to like her [[spoiler:before it turns out that the Momiji she knows will actually die without her divine powers.]] Turns out she really does like her better when they're always fighting.
