* FauxAffablyEvil: He's often jovial or extravagantly courteous (especially with Wendy), but he keeps up the same attitude while making people walk the plank.
* {{Foil}}: To Wendy. Both have an obsession with Peter Pan and have a reason to want to stay on Neverland. After growing up hearing stories about him, Wendy develops a crush on Peter and initially wanted to go to Neverland so she can go on adventures with him and never grow up. However, Wendy eventually realizes the [[ButtMonkey physical abuse]], [[BreakTheCutie mental stress]], and [[DudeWheresMyRespect disrespect]] she endured on Neverland wasn't worth the effort of staying, so she [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere decided home was much better]] and that growing up was important. Hook, on the other hand (no pun intended), wants to kill Pan for the constant humiliation the latter has dealt him time and again, especially for the incident regarding the crocodile. It would greatly benefit his mental health and self-esteem to leave Neverland with his crew, but Hook utterly refuses to do so until he's had his revenge. While Wendy went on to lead a happy life growing up to adulthood, Captain Hook is forever doomed to a life of misery chasing a goal he'll never reach.

* HairTriggerTemper: He has a violent temper that can not only make him unpredictable, but also might lead to someone dying, usually on his side since his crew [[SurroundedByIdiots aren't the brightest]]. But Peter tends to get his blood boiling the most out of anyone.

* KarmicButtMonkey: Along with [[WesternAnimation/TheAristocats Edgar]], he's probably one of the Disney villains who get more slapstick and humiliations in the entire film. He deserves it for being an evil pirate who WouldHurtAChild.
* LaughablyEvil: He is a comedic villain, with extremely hammy mannerisms and getting comically chased around by the crocodile.

** One of the reasons why he's a danger to everyone is that he's quite an expert on exploiting others' emotions and problems if it brings him one step closer to killing Peter Pan. He manipulated Tinkerbell into telling him where Peter's hideout is with the promise of getting rid of Wendy, trapping Tink in a lantern once she does, does the same with Jane to get her to sell out Peter Pan and the Lost Boys with the promise of taking her back to London, leaving her stranded once she (unintentionally) does the deed.

* ViilainousBreakdown: Both times in the original film, he's faced Peter Pan and subsequently Tick-Tock, he's gone from proud and malicious to a completely NervousWreck who ends up fleeing into the distance with as little dignity as possible. The 2nd time is arguably worse as he's first reduced to admitting he's a codfish while blubbering before he's reduced to skipping across the ocean like a codfish.

* AdaptationPersonalityChange: The original Hook is obsessed with order, cleanliness and "good form," so much so that he disembowels his own man for wrinkling his collar. The Disney version has none of that, and says "Blast good form!" when Smee brings it up.

* AnimalMotif: Codfish. Peter Pan often refers to him as such, and when he's finally defeated for good in the finale of the first time, he's skipping across the ocean in a fish like manner.

* AxCrazy: ''Very'' murder happy, even more so then most Disney villains, his EstablishingCharacterMoment even has him [[OffingTheAnnoyance randomly killing one of his own men for accidentally interrupting his monologue]]

* ClothingDamage: Both times he's involved with Peter Pan and Tick Tock, his regal attire is ripped to shreds as he's left a humiliated wretch barely clothed.

* CruelMercy: Hook spares Jane by taunting her and exposing her secret about doing the deed which she didn't agree on only for him to keep Peter Pan.
* TheDandy: He's compared to Charles II.

* EvilGenius: You wouldn't see it easily because of his hammy personality and how incompetent he can get when Peter Pan's around, or just as terrified of the Crocodile, but when they're not around, he's a genuinely intelligent man that uses his charm and wit to get what he wants. He exploited Tinkerbell and Jane when they were at their lowest points, and through the deals he made with them, [[LoopholeAbuse he deliberately made loopholes in them so he can screw them over in some shape or form]]. He has knowledge on the Native's culture if his comment on Tiger Lily's soul not moving on if she drowned as a way to get her to sell out Peter Pan says anything. And finally, he goads Peter into a fair fight in the original so that he has a better advantage against him; and he nearly won that fight. But he didn't count on Peter [[IndyPloy thinking fast on his feet]].

* UnstoppableRage: He already had a trigger-happy temper to being with, but in the sequel, when Jane starts mucking up his plans in the ClimacticBattle, any self-control he had (which let's be honest, there's not a lot of that to begin with), is completely gone and he chases after Jane hell-bent on killing her. Counts as a VillainousBreakdown as well.
