One of the best examples is when Gerard tries to level with her on their mutually monstrous forms, and she reacts as if she's being chewed out. Both of them verbally acknowledge that she ISN'T in trouble, and even if she were, a self professed coward like Gerard has no right to be the one to dress her down, but she can't quell the reflex and spends the entire conversation apologizing to him.
