** Like most meta-humans, Thawne's powers are dampened in a carbine cell which allowed the Flash to imprison him for 3 months during the Flashpoint timeline.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Initially. Thawne is given a great deal more redeeming qualities, in stark contrast with his comic incarnation who is incapable of feeling ''any'' kind of affection towards anybody but himself. Here, he genuinely grows fond of Team Flash (especially Cisco) and even comes to enjoy helping them to fight rogues, despite still having no qualms about killing them if he needs to.

Here, he genuinely grows fond of Team Flash (especially Cisco) and even comes to enjoy helping them to fight rogues, despite still having no qualms about killing them if he needs to. This is justified with the revelation that the device he used to transform himself into "Harrison Wells" subjected him to TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody, so Wells' goodness was seeping into his personality.

** Post-Season One, Thawne is depicted a lot more closer to the comics, being an incredibly petty, selfish, AxCrazy SerialKiller who will not hesitate to murder anyone in his way, caring about no one but himself, and boasting a long string of KickTheDog moments.

** Post-Season One, This gets subverted post-Crisis, where Thawne is gets depicted a lot more closer to the comics, being an incredibly petty, selfish, AxCrazy SerialKiller who will not hesitate to murder anyone in his way, caring about no one but himself, and boasting a long string of KickTheDog moments.

* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: Initially the KillAndReplace device he used to absorb the genetic essence of Harrison Wells took a little more than he bargained for, parts of Wells' good personality, leading Thawne to develop affection towards Barry and Team Flash with a few PetTheDog moments. However later on, Thawne found a way to maintain the transformation without overriding his true personality.

* SheepInSheepsClothing: After losing his memories and SuperSpeed and being left to live a normal life in 21st Century Central City, ''everyone,'' including his own AlternateSelf, assume he's plotting something. In reality, there's no jig at all, and Thawne's pulled a genuine HeelFaceTurn.

* EvilCounterpart: To Barry Allen. Having identical powers of SuperSpeed. But while Barry uses his power to help others and save lives, the Reverse-Flash uses his powers to terrorize people and kill them. They've both willingly changed the timeline on many occasions, but Barry usually does so to avert a crisis, while Thawne does so for his own selfish ends. Even in their civilian identities: Barry is a ScienceHero who uses his forensic knowledge to help people, while Thawne is a MadScientist who has killed or rubbed the lives of many through his Particle Accelerator explosion. Also, both [[CreateYourOwnHero created]] [[CreateYourOwnVillain each other]] in a sense, given how heavily their histories are entwined with one another.
